Admit that it was a lucky guess

Dreamer128 03-16-2004 04:33 AM

The second you admit that the City Gates isn't a real district. ;)

As for my question; (For the Warcraft Die Hards) who was king of Azeroth during the first Orc invasion?

King Llane (sp?).

Bozos of Bones 03-16-2004 04:39 AM

Lothar? The one that led the humans exodus?

Dreamer128 03-16-2004 05:18 AM

Actually, it was Llane's father, Wyrm III (what's in a name?). But since Llane was king during the actual invasion.. Hierophant; you're on.

Loudhy 03-16-2004 06:49 AM

Off topic :

Wowww , Bozos of Bones. It's the first time I found out, that someone took my first name for a hero in a game . And as a leader for a human exodus I say :

Follow me !!!!

followed by and so on... :D

The Hierophant 03-16-2004 06:55 AM

Alrighty then, name the game that this quote is from, and the character that says it:

"I shall be your companion... your provider... and your master!"

The Hierophant 03-17-2004 05:12 AM

Ok, I'll give you a hint: It's from a role-playing game, made in the early nineties.

Xen 03-17-2004 09:20 AM

Erm... Soulbringer?

Bozos of Bones 03-17-2004 12:55 PM

Early... as in, before the year 2000. Before 1995.

Paladin2000 03-17-2004 01:16 PM

There are quite a lot of CRPGs in the 90s. Is it Ultima VI?

Loudhy 03-18-2004 12:10 AM

Ultima VII - Black Gate ?

Nightowl2 03-18-2004 12:17 AM

Ultima VI was the Black Gate; Ultima VII was Serpent Isle.

I don't recall that quote being in Ultima, but hey, that was awhile ago ;)

If it is U6, then that can only be the Guardian speaking.

Nightowl2

Loudhy 03-18-2004 12:25 AM

No Nightowl2. IIRC,there were 2 parts of Ultima VII . 1st was Black Gate, 2nd was Serpent Isle. Can't remember the name of Ultima VI ( Gargoyle story ).

The Hierophant 03-18-2004 02:29 AM

Right, well, the question has been answered.
BUT
We have a dilemma, in that the two halves of it were answered by two different people.

Loudhy got the game right: 'Ultima 7 (Part One), The Black Gate'.

(BTW, Ultima 6 was 'The False Prophet', and centred around the war with the Gargoyles. Serpent Isle was 'Ultima 7 Part 2'. I have no idea why they didn't just go ahead and call it Ultima 8...)

But Nightowl2 got the character right, being The Guardian (quite possibly the coolest villain of all time, except for in Ultima IX, where he sucked, big time ;) ).

However, I'm assuming that Loudhy didn't see the additional 'name the character' question, and since he was able to name the game it seems logical that he would've been able to name the character too (the Guardian is the only 'voiced' character in the whole game afterall).
Soooooo, sorry Nightowl2, it was a good effort, but I'm gonna award this one to Loudhy.

So.... batter UP!

ps: sorry for taking my sweet time in answering fellas.

Loudhy 03-18-2004 02:51 AM

Thanks. You're right. I didn't read your questions to the end. Sorry. But I know this game well, because standing before the Black Gate I found out, that I've lost the wand needed to destroy it ( somewhere, somehow ..... ). You can imagine my disappoitment after months of playing.

But fortunatly some days later a friend gave me a hint to unlock the film.

Because I'm in my office now I'll have to wait for the next question until tomorrow. Please be patient

Loudhy 03-18-2004 03:29 AM

I'd a sudden inspiration ! ( strange in an office, isn't it ? :D )

I hope it isn't too difficult.

What's the name of the game ? Who said it ?

" Another visitor ? ... Stay a while ... stay forever ! "

Betelgeuse 03-18-2004 07:55 AM

yay, i know this one. impossible mission on the commodore 64. a c64 game with speech
aw, crud. i don't remember the name of the bad guy. i could google it but that would be wrong.
so close yet so far from getting the right answer.

Loudhy 03-18-2004 08:16 AM

I accept that, Betelgeuse. You're right. You could simply search the web for the name. ( Tried that after your answer and found it easily )

That mad guy was called "Elvin Atombender".

It's your turn.

Betelgeuse 03-18-2004 09:42 AM

for a start here's one i don't know the answer to - where are the characters in your sig from, loudhy?

after all this time watching the trivia i thought i'd be able to come up with a nice hard question. this will have to do. but i can't guarantee it will be easy either

which classical piece contained in the resident evil soundtrack (game not movie) was used as the theme to thexder, the old robot platformer?

You mean Fierehawk? That will be "Moonlight Sonata" if I remember correctly... but I am not sure if this one appears in resident evil too.

Betelgeuse 03-18-2004 04:57 PM

heh, had to remind myself what firehawk was - thexder 2. not sure if i've played that. pretty sure the music's in the first one, but who says it can't be in both. but anyway, beethoven's moonlight sonata is correct.

your question again, paladin

Paladin2000 03-18-2004 10:51 PM

This is an easy one:

Name any FOUR(4) class 10 cannons available in unmodded version of Freelancer.

[additional bonus]
Of all the C10 cannons, name the one with the highest damage rating.

If I could, I would. But I remember nothing about warcraft and have never played Commander Keen. :(

RoSs_bg2_rox 03-19-2004 01:28 PM

wow dude you are missing out. Keen is a brilliant game-one of the classics check out here for keen and many other classics, you will enjoy it.

Paladin2000 03-19-2004 01:49 PM

I have been to Home of The Underdogs but old school arcade game just isn't my type. Thanks but no.

So, Anyone manage to figure out the answer to my question yet?

Doesn't look like it ;)
Maybe there's a website I can google up that'll have the answer... ;)

Paladin2000 03-20-2004 06:19 AM

I made sure that the answer is not that easy to be found by using search engine.

However, if you have played this game, the answer should be quite obvious.

If there are no more attemps, I will post the answer and start with a new question. :D

Just uninstalled the game. Damn ;) Since no one else appears to have the answer, maybe you should post a new question Also, maybe we could speed up the game by running two questions at once. Anyone in favor of that?

[ 03-20-2004, 06:58 AM: Message edited by: Dreamer128 ]

Nightowl2 03-20-2004 10:26 AM

Yeah, I think we need a new question.

NO, I'd rather keep it to one question per person, otherwise it gets confusing.

Nightowl2

Paladin2000 03-20-2004 11:24 AM

Here is the answer:

-Name-----------Damage/shot
===========================
PROMETHEUS------586.799988
JADE------------652
SILVER FIRE-----717.200012
GOLDEN BLADE----782.400024
BLOODSTONE------880.200012
IRON HAMMER-----880.200012
THOR'S HAMMER---880.200012
ARCHANGEL-------978
DARK BLOSSOM----978
BLUE BLAZE------1075.800049
GUARDIAN--------1075.800049
WILDFIRE--------1075.800049
ONYX------------1075.800049
CERBERUS--------1173.599976
DIAMONDBACK-----1173.599976

[Special- These weapons have 0 energy consumption]
Nomad Energy Blaster----635.700012
Nomad Energy Cannon-----847.599976

In terms of damage potential, DIAMONBACK and CERBERUS have the same rating. These babies will tear your enemy up in less than 1 minutes.

Okay, here are two questions. Answer EITHER one right and you are next:

[Question 1]
In Gothic 2, name the best two handed sword obtainable by the Paladin class.

[Question 2]
In Silent Storm, there is a silenced weapon which is virtually impossible to get unless you use the cheat code. This is a blessing in disguise as the weapon model in question is "broken". Name the weapon and why it is considered as "broken".

Just to aviod any confusion, the first person to get EITHER one right is the winner for this round.

Loudhy 03-22-2004 01:21 AM

I only played this game in german but maybe the translation is right :

Holy Executor ?

Paladin2000 03-22-2004 03:13 AM

Here is the answer:

Q1: Holy Executioner

Q2: Derliz (Delisle Silenced Carbine). The model in this game is "broken" because it is not silenced as it is supposed to be.

Loudhy, your answer is close enough, being a translation from German to English. You are next.

Loudhy 03-22-2004 04:58 AM

What's the name of the game :

The player enters a world, where humans coexist with dinosaurs.

Kakero 03-22-2004 05:06 AM

is it Dinocrisis ?

Loudhy 03-22-2004 06:31 AM

No.

Target 03-22-2004 06:52 AM

what about The Lost Eden?

Loudhy 03-22-2004 07:01 AM

No. Two other hints.

The world is called : The lost land Edon.
The game is older than 10 years.
