Larry concerning stun, there are many fairly accurate, and more concrete ways of expressing a stun than rulespeak, getting suckerpunched and having the wind knocked out of you is essentially a stun, getting kicked in the jimmies (for males) is another. limited action, focus and balance are pretty key to it like you've said above. good description Larry

this however is also a two way street, if you ever meet Reaper or another one of his minions, they will react without regard to PC, NPC distinction. [ 02-04-2005, 08:01 AM: Message edited by: Morgeruat ] |
Thanks for the added clarifications, Morgie. I think you said it even better than I.
And btw...The Reaper is quiet for the moment, but not forgotten. There is a place in this game for him...and the players will soon be discovering this. |
*nods* no problem. Part of the problem with the games are that they lump "hold person" spells in with "stun" spells, the effect while similar in the rules, is quite different for the person experiencing the effects.

The information on the orange-ish armor was taken from a post by Legolas in the first discussion thread of the game, about what the Inquisitor wears. If that is different at the moment, I'll be happy to edit.
And a question: how strong is the net? |
It's accurate. As for the net, apparently it's fit to hold a raging were-tigress. I believe that at the very least, it means that if the tigress escapes and eats you, you get your money back
I'm treating the stun like a paralysis because Marcos, at the moment, doesn't really think of moving. He has been given a power word and is trying to obey it. Arcades, I might be joining you shortly what with all these people trembling in their boots at the thought of an immobile paladin ;) And Cyril... Well. Now that would be telling, eh? |
A QUICK NOTE
We're coming up on the 3 year anniversary of the game. Larry, that means we've been working on killing each other for quite a while now! BTW - Next week also marks 3 years since the Windbringer's first appearance on the boards, and one way or another I'm looking to have a dead giant for that celebration ...... |
:D Three years. Wow...That really sounds like a long time! Three years of Official LoF action...I hope nothing happens to this forum or we'd lose three years of blood, sweat, and tears.
|
wow, three years, it's been that long. I have always looked at stun as you can use your faculties, i.e. thought but nothing else, momentarily frozen kind of like a coma. Your mind can go but the boddy is a limp prone noodle, hehe
So I was stunned for a round, will that round be over before or after the skellie moves? |
At this time, you are still stunned. The skeleton is moving, and heading toward Marcos...but it is not going to get there in an instant, I expect it to take like 1/2 of a round or something. Keeping time is easier than trying to explain how much time is actually left.
I'll post the time when it is time. :D |
Actually...all I need is a post from Silt so that the time can pass. He is the only one behind everyone else at this time.
|
A quick reminder Bozos, casting a spell is always a full round action (barring quicken spell which makes it counts as a free action, but raises the level beyond what a paladin could cast)
|
due to my a complete system crash onmy computer last night, i am sending via my husband's computer. Besides working 16 hours a day from yesterday thru the next two days, i have to try to flatten and fix my comp before monday. so I am only getting 1-2 hours sleep. sorry, but i won't be posting until next week sometime..

About Kynnen's last post. The ability to get up, grab a weapon, cast the spell in the concentration required and then charge at your enemy would take more time than you have allowed. Silt has still not posted his response to the previous move, and you are already into the next round. I need that slowed down a bit. I want to give Silt the chance to make his required counter-action, and you can be preparing to enter the next round, but the actual attack has to be reserved for your next post, please. I will not give Silt very long...but will give him a little time. And remember the lesson of the poor dragon that hasted ahead of his turn. He ended up being a meal for my new pets. |
Sorry, I'm still in my 3rd Ed casting times
I'll go edit it now.. |
|
I know I said that I'll post tonight, but I'm just too tired to do so...
I'll get it done soon after waking tomorrow. [ 02-05-2005, 04:54 PM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Well, looks like I'm losing my DSL and going back to dial up, due to lack of work. I'll chat with you guys when if I manage to get work and back up to a decent Cable connection.
|
Sorry for not posting Larry, I was at work. I'l do so now.
|
How does this sound? Since Silt's post was all about defence, we'll say that the next attack made on him from anyone would suffer a -1 penalty to hit. Don't ya think that sounds fair? I have no idea if this fits any rule...but it sounds cool to me.
Any whiners? [ 02-05-2005, 10:16 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
lol Larry, the 2nd Ed rules for parrying give you half your level as an AC bonus (ie for a lvl 8 character it would be a -4 AC bonus), warriors receive an additional +1 bonus.

That's probably a bit more technical than we need to be here.
If we continue micromanage every step of this melee it's never going to end. Let's try and keep things simple where possible so we can wrap this up. Other areas of the game have been put on hold a bit too long as it is. |
The way I see it, the descriptions about dodgeing and looking for the right time are simply describing a standard combat where each warrior fights to the best of his skill and ability.
If you want to do anything special like using parry or expertise, call it. Of course, that's not to say the DM can't apply bonusses or penalties in the event of particularly brilliant or opposite actions. [ 02-06-2005, 07:25 AM: Message edited by: Legolas ] |
I will have posts up for the skeleton today and also for the scrap between the mage and owl-man.
I agree with Cyril, that I am unable to calculate every movement with D&D legal accuracy. I consider this a "softcore" game. Don't worry...it will still be a fair game. I just have to adjust the rules to my knowledge limits, and the limits of the patience of all of us. |
Due to a recommendation, it is time to bring back a much missed character. A favorite of mine. One of my more successive ones at least.
May Lady Fairhand bless her with the wisdom she needs to serve the members of Ironworks once again. |
One blessing coming up ......
May the shining of the ever-glowing sun guide thee always. May the brightness and the piercing warmth of its beams dispel all cast of shadow from thy mind. And may the gold of its sure and steady burning grant thee clarity of sight, generosity of heart, and sustain thee that the dawning of a true unfailing goodness take place in thy life. For those unfamiliar with her from the last game, Ahuranni Fairhand, Ana's deity is a goddess of light and life. |
The only person that has not posted in this last round is Vincent, who no longer suffers the Stun effect. All other posters have moved and have been told what their moves caused.
To move things along, I will say that Vincent was still recovering his faculties after the Stun wore off, and advance everyone into the next round so that new moves can be made. Look for the post in the game. |
whoa, cool your jet's hehe posting is done and pm sent hopefully the plan will work
|
Silt continues his actions fromt he last round, so I don't have anything to post.
|
* Eagles lost in the Super Bowl. *
* Steelers lost in the playoffs 2 weeks ago.* * Opens the fridge to discover he's out of beer.* * Considers his next post ........ |
3 posts from my hand by this time tomorrow.

ah man, I remember in the good old days when that spell would roast half the party (caster had no control once the spell was unleashed, it would go from target to target starting at the closest one to the initial victim, and could actually arc back and hit the caster)

Heh, the chain lightning spell has always made a very strong case for using miniatures, or at the very least mapping out locations on paper before and after casting it.
It's sad to see Marcos go, he was true to his ideals, and acted nobly. Legolas, I salute you and your roleplaying. |
*returns the salute*
It's a proper death. |
Great death post Legolas! Andrion presents his deepest regrets of not having tried the peaceful way of taking care of Larry Silverfall.
Now for Vincent and Silt...but first that pesky skeleton... |
Once again updated for convenience (also on page 1)
