Sabbiel (Sand Cat spy)
The fur along Sabbiel's spine was bristled slightly in fear and hate as the two-legger transformed into a large wolf and padded silently over to him to sit at his side. After the Dragon-two-legger finished transforming into a strange looking two-legger, Sabbiel turned and quickly led the two back to where he had left His scent, occasionally glancing back to make sure the she-Wolf and Dragon-two-legger were still with him. Once they regained the scent and were following the path rapidly to the other side of the forest, the Sand Cat glanced sidelong at the she-Wolf that was loping easily next to him. Finally overcoming his hate, at least for the moment, Sabbiel yowled a question at her, guessing that the she-Wolf could probably still understand him. pm- "she-Wolf" ;) |
Silt 80/80
Silt was, at first, a little dismayed by the others' reactions; for it seemed to him as if they had changed their minds somewhat as to what their goal was, which, he thought, was to help Larry. But, upon further thinking, Silt decided it was for the best, for they did not really know where Roderik and Andrion had gone, and there was no real point in putting themselves in more danger for possibly very little gain. So, after his little colaboration, Silt agreed with Rong and Lyulfe that they should go back to Larry and tell him what had happened, for he may have a better idea of what to do next than them. And so it was settled. |
To: Silt, Rong, and Lyulfe
Upon making the decision, the three of you have nothing else to do but begin the walk back. An urgency is portrayed in your hurried steps as you realize that this is not a time to dwindle. You make very good time through the desert, following the fresh tracks of a horse, carrying a burdon upon its back. In the distance, you can see where the desert begins to fade away into more hospitable enviroment, telling you that your venture north is coming close to its end. Your next task would be to find Larry's group somehow. OOC>>>This trio is free to move as they see fit towards whatever goal they decide to persue. |
Inquisitor Marcos of Snowdale - 98/98
He was, while not surprised, certainly not quite expecting such an answer from a peasant beggar. Even though it was common enough to complain about a tyrannical king, baron or lord, those in more dire straits were usually desperate enough to risk the further wrath of a witch by naming her, that she might be burned or otherwise disposed of. These, matters of state, did not concern him even if he didn't have a modding mage to occupy him. His was a higher pursuit, and indeed, the only times he came in contact with the upper class were those when he investigated the rummours of their meddling with dark sorcery. He recounted few such cases, he worked mostly amongst the common people. There was more evil to be found there, in any case. His own greatest successes had been in neither field, however. The hammer he bore stood testimony to that particular accomplishment. He focussed his thoughts back onto the other. He looked to need the coin, and there was still a possibility he had some information of use. "Tell me something else then," he said, taking out a copper for the beggar. "Anyone living as close to the streets as you yourself, in a place such as this, undoubtedly misses but few things. "A man came through here recently, several times in fact, and oft in the company of adventurers." He tossed him the coin as requested, arching it to have his ear a moment longer. "Perhaps you might share what you know of Larry Silverfall's actions in this place." [ 07-28-2004, 05:37 PM: Message edited by: Legolas ] |

ooc>>can we still see the horse tracks?+don't we already know the way since we have been there before?
|
OOC>>>Yeah, you don't need the tracks because you do know where the tavern is, as we all started from there, but I merely made the horse tracks part of the storyline to have you notice that somebody has come this way before you. Remembering the Inquisitor from a few days ago, you can assume that it is him, or not. I was just giving you something to play off of.
Now for Rong's post... Rong Er She turns to her traveling partner and smirks... "Poor dear, the sun must be baking your brain!" She giggles, then points in the general direction. "The tavern is that way, past that brown-colored store and to the left, where we will find a carpet vendor on the corner, named Agasta. Two blocks from there is the One-Eyed Wolf. Dear, you should really pay more attention to detail." Rong then notices that the horse tracks also lead in that direction; the same that they had been following in the desert. "And unless I have also become equally incompentant, we will find our rider in that direction as well." Rong then starts off in that direction, waving her hand for the others to follow. |
Beggar, speaking to Marcos:
"Indeed, sire! Indeed! I know o' the movements of the one, who they say is cloaked in a shadow o' himself. Indeed, he did come to this very spot just a day ago, walkin' out of the wood yonder, stayed here a bit, then trapsed back off to yonder wood, being led by a very tall and uncommon-type feller. For the life o' me, that is all I have seen." |
Tao: (In her absence)
The wolf looked at the small feline with eyes of a teacher to a student, for this young one was far from understanding the world, yet already the prejudices and misconceptions were creeping in to override reason. Speaking not aloud, as they were on a hunt, she instead spoke with her gift of mind-speak, touching the thoughts of the young cat, and gave this answer... "Let us put our differences aside in the journey to do good for the land in which we live, my young friend. For this is a task much larger than you or I should be given to accomplish alone, yet it has been given, and we must do what we can to ensure the safety of all. My friend Arcades uses a different form of power than I to do his shape changing. While he utilizes the power of a substitution to his real form, my form itself can alter, and be just as real as the the one I leave behind. In the dragon's subsitution, you see a lie, but in mine you see more truth. Arcades is a dragon, and nothing can change that, but I am as you see me, in both forms I take. Does this help you understand, young one?" OOC>>>I hope I sounded Tao-ish enough for everyone! [ 07-29-2004, 10:14 AM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

Ducking and running back to a corner, the now unarmored man tried to think of a way out, perhaps the spider was meant to bite, and slay him, perhaps the test would be how long he could survive against such a creature of shadow and flesh made real... Whipping his arm back, he threw one dagger, and watcheed it strike true, he then ran to another corner as the spider skittered and roared in rage and pain. |

The giant arachnid stopped it's pursuit of this morsal of sweet blood, and prepared it's ranged attack. A string of sticky web come flying toward Rodie, attempting to trap him in the corner. She screamed at him, as she leaped at him again, this time stopping short of him, then kicking out with her powerful legs to knock him off-balance. ooc: Good Tao impression Larry. =)
Arcades' telepathy keen mind picks up on Tao's mind speech, nodding in agreement with her. He had known her for a long time and had concidered her almost dragon-like for her abillity to shapeshift. He continues walking the path with the others, hoping to come to the main roads soon. Without his abillity to fly, he feels just that much more vulnerable. |

Finishing off his task of forming up his silver tipped arrow heads, he vaugely heard Larry's voice in questioning tone at a distance behind him. Pardon me LArry, what was that, I was in thought.... I think these little jewels are going to come in handy at some point, there are creatures about that cannot stand the touch of silver in there veins. he smiles semi wickedly and and chuckles a bit but as fast as the smile came it was gone and back to his standard demeanor. So what was that you said ? |

The webbing hit, and wrapped the confused man's left arm to his side, also getting tanlged into his hair, and partially covering his left eye, another strike like that and he would be spider-chow. he shuddered as he thought about the dessicated husks he'd found in a giant spider's lair several years before, drained of vitality and fluid they had likely been conscious while eaten. He rolled to the side, hoping the web wouldn't stick to the floor and trap him, and launched two more daggers from his right hand. The first struck deep and true, but as he prepared to throw the second he hit the wall behind him, striking his funny bone, and causing him to drop the dagger as his arm went numb. (rolled a friggin 1, dang it) |

"Oh...uh, I was saying that I see no reason to just sit here and play hiding-go-seek. There is some guy out there wanting to talk to me, and I see no reason to not go see him. I think I should meet him as soon as I can. What do you think, Vince?" |
For Rodie
The strike caused the spider to lose its grip on the wall and fall, causing even more damage to it. Now, barely able to walk, or shuffle, or whatever it is that spiders do...it watched as its victim faltered, and decided that this was the right time to move in for the sting. As it came into position, its stinger came flying toward Rodie's chest. OOC>>>Roll'em bones dude! Better pray for better than a 1 next time! |

Spider attack for Rodie
The spider shot another blast of web at the running human, which made contact on the floor just at his ankles, and stopped the poor running piece of meat, his momentum tripping him up and making him fall forward. The spider was now very tired of this game and wanted to quickly get things under control. It had hatchlings to feed, afterall. After the web blast, the spider scurried over to the wiggling man, shooting yet another blast of web at his arms and face. OOC>>>You're all tangled up at the feet, but I left the arms and face roll open for you to make that save roll if you can. ooc- When Liam used "sister," he merely referred to the fact that they were of the same race... he does not yet realize they are more closely related
Liam In his full-grown tiger form, Liam easily twisted back onto his feet and prepared to launch himself at the hybrid with bared teeth. A split second before he pounced, a large orange and black blur hurled itself inbetween him and the hybrid, knocking into the surprised female. "You shall not harm my mate, Female," the enraged tigress screamed in cat language. "Even if you are of my mate's kind, I shall sink my fangs into your flesh and sharpen my claws on your body to protect him from you!" "Chisa! OOC>>>Sorry about the "rr" thing. I went back and put them in. I know that he was using the term "sister" lightly, but I meant to say "brother" on purpose. It is for him to wonder whether or not she meant it literally or not. It's a game, girl!
Now, time for some fun, and to remember who raised this little girl. Nanashi Her scream of rage at the intrusion probably scared every single innocent creature out of hiding and into a fleeing fit from the forest...but these three took no notice of that. In a quick summersault backwards, she amazingly disappeared where the shadows of the tall oaks blanketed the undergrowth. Only lasting long enough to make an impression, she suddenly appeared again, in full tiger form. The sudden appearance was to her advantage, as she bounded toward Chisa from her rear, leaping upon her and biting down upon her neck while her hind claws scraped at Chisa's hind quarters. OOC>>>I am trying to make Nanashi out to be the perfect assasin thatthe Shadow Mage would have made her, and she has been taught shadow tricks of course. Else my efforts are doomed to fail, and I shall fade away as the moderating DM that let his team down. :( |
ooc- I know what you meant by the "brother" thing, I just felt like making Liam's pov clear
Liam Liam watched in horror as Nanashi locked her jaws into Chisa's neck and clawed at her hindquarters. The tigress uttered a hiss of pain and anger, then twisted her lower body so that her hind claws had access to Nanashi's soft underbelly. Taking advantage of her position, Chisa used her powerful back legs to claw at the unprotected stomach, Nanashi's jaws still locked into the back of her neck. All Liam could do was ready himself to interfere during a lull in the fighting. The two tigresses were too interlocked, and he was afraid he might hurt Chisa more than help her if he jumped in now. |
Nanashi
The pain in her stomach told her that Chisa had been successful in her counter-attack, but pain was not a stranger to Nanashi. She blocked the pain from her thoughts and changed her grip on Chisa's neck, moving it down to the side so that her lower teeth couold penetrate her jugular from the left side. At the same time, she removed her hind legs and lower torso from the other tiger's back and took a firm stand on the ground, hoping for leverage to push Chisa to the ground and end this unimportant conflict. OOC>>>Man, Chisa is a pretty good fighter against The Mage's number one captain! Surely Nanashi would be able to win this conflict with ease, and only Liam should have the power to stand against her, so if you want Chisa to survive, you'll need some help. How 'bout I offer that help with a temp. char. that I am in charge of? Now for hit point deductions: Nanashi has suffered 12hp slashing damage. Chisa has suffered 7hp slashing damage and 10+18=28hp piercing damage (in two turns). Liam has suffered 2hp damage for the tumble. |
TaoWolf:
She heard the cat's warning and then sensed it herself, recognizing the scents in the air. Running with determined speed, she and Sabbiel and Arcades quickly covered the few feet remaining between them and the fight with the three tigers. The first move she made was to call for backup, incase there was more danger in the surrounding woods. Her howl rang out true, and in a moment, the answering calls responded that the pack would not allow any others to approach that were not allies. The unseen wolves surrounded the outer perimeter of the battle. Her next move was to be aimed at the battle now. Two tigers were fighting and one of them was Chisa, as Tao could see. Liam stood off but a small distance away, watching the battle in horror, his lean muscles in tiger-form stressed as if ready to pounce in at any second to aid his mate. OOC>>>I will end my turn here, just because what I have just done took so much time as to have allowed the two she-tigers another action. |
For Silt, Rong, and Lyulfe
It was not long before Rong actually led the party right to where the tavern stood, and then she stopped where she was, and quickly turned the corner off of the path she had been making. In a whispered tone, she informed the two companions behind her of what she had seen. Rong: "The man who was looking for Larry is at the tavern, and has just given a beggar a coin. Do we want to go ahead or stay back and let him leave first?" |

Struggling with the first batch of web, the adventurer managed to tear his left arm free and felt a satisfying rip as the web came loose, along with most of the hair from his arm. The tear came just as another burst of webbing hit the spot he had just shuffled away from (made my save *whew*). Clearing his mind, and trying to suppress his fear at the monstrous spider before he called out in a confident, firm voice, "Return," hoping that it would call the daggers to him, if they did return, he wondered, would it be enough to save him from the venom dripping mandibles of the spidersaurus rex before him? |
Chisa
Chisa sensed her opponent shifting in position, and despite her mortal wounds she raked viciously at the female's face, mostly in desperation. On the fringes of her mind she could sense the arrival of others, the strangers that had followed Him. |
ooc- feel free to do that, Larry Chisa is not a main character, but I do not wish her to die so soon... :/

Watching the stranger change her position, Liam chose that moment to strike, hoping that catching her mid-shift and the appearance of others would catch her off-balance. |
Lyulfe
Lyulfe rubbed his chin and looked off in the direction Rong had seen the man. "I think we should let him go ahead of us, perhaps get close enough to watch him but not let him sense us... ic- Sabbiel (Sand Cat wolf hater) Sabbiel could feel every strand of fur bristle in anger and fear as the She-wolf called others to their aide, and he knew it was rolling off of him in waves. He felt a little ashamed of feeling this way towards an ally of Him, but he couldn't override the deep-rooted response that had been imprinted in him at birth. Ears flattened tightly against his skull, the sand cat could feel a growl leave his throat as he watched the powerful tigers fight each other. "I am not strong enough to fight against my sister. My breed is meant to hide and survive, not fight like tigers," he growled at the She-wolf, shamed that the wolves will have to help Him and Chisa while all he could do is watch. |

A magic was rousing. With a hum two of the daggers began to vibrate inside of the wounds of the spider, then they leapt, one from the spiders face and flew hilt first into the outstretched hand of Rodie. The other, lodged in the beasts thorax, burrowed deeper into it, disappearing entirely, before erupting in a spray of ichor and flying to the amazed mans hands, all three daggers had returned to him, but he didn't wait for the enraged spider to pounce. While it was still off balance from the pain he threw two daggers once again, burying one deep into it's right eye, the other struck a glancing blow against it's foot holding to a wall. With the last dagger he sliced the web holding his feet and scrambled back away from the dying arachnid. |
The spider's wounds were simply too great for it to continue on. It huddled up in a ball-like shape and fell to the ground. It was twitching, but other than that it was now seemingly harmless.
An applauding came from a single entity that was now developing from the darkness, as thuogh smoke were taking a shape. The applause became louder and less echo-ish as the being materialized. As The Mage appeared, the spider melted into the ground as oil seeping into a crevice. "Very well done, Mr. Rodie. Your luck is astounding and your ablity to think on your feet accomodates it nicely. Now that I have seen your strengths and weaknesses, I need to witness Roderik in battle as well, that I may discern his worth...and compare it to your's. Are you ready to continue, or do you need a moment to freshen up?" |
Nanashi
As she was attempting to bring down Liam's whore, Liam himself jumped into the battle just as the sounds of wolves could be heard and some more of Liam's foolish friends had arrived. This was not going well in Nanashi's favor, she realized and needed to find a way to turn the tide of battle back to her side. She let go of Chisa, and rolled with Liam long enough to spring back away from him and leap into the air. In mid-hump, she shifted to her hybrid form, grabbed a low branch on the Oak she had leapt into and scurried up on it. Not resting there, she jumped again to the next highest branch and looked down on her enemies. "You will find that I am morre difficult to get rrid of than my motherr was, you fool! "You cannot help what you are, but you are mistaken about your usefulness. When you give it thought, you will realize that you have an advantage over us all. Excuse me a moment." Tao realized that she had the advantage over this attacker, as the were-tiger did not know that she was more than just a wolf. When she leaped from the tree branch, her attention was fully on Liam, and that was when Tao shifted into her other form. Speaking a word to the ground caused the foliage at Nanashi's feet to tangle themselves around her ankles, holding her tight. When Nanashi attempted to spring after the fallen Liam, she discovered she was held. She slashed downward to untangle herself, but the foliage grabbed at her wrists.
