OOC>> sorry about the sig thing, got onto the computer again today. I removed my sig but it hasnt updated yet. This problem was likely becasue my pc isnt connected to the net, since i have my webserver on it...Sorry once again for any problems i might've caused.

OOC: Sorry I have been gone for a while. Lately I have been pretty stressed out with school and all.

Roland too looked upon the encampment. And then looked at Turin. Roland knew as long Turin is leading things would go right. But another look at the encampment put a little doubt on Rolands mind.

Cienden 04-02-2004 02:13 AM

<font color="FF3300">Kirūn leaned against a boulder and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Any ideas before we trot happily into the embrace of death? One thing that came to me mind was to wait a bit and observe the area to see the general order of the place and its rabble. Perhaps we could discover something from observation or mingling with the camp below, besides knocking on their front door. </font>

dplax 04-02-2004 03:46 AM

<font color=green>Feldorn

"Dwarves might have a chance to mingle, but elves not since elves do not serve Morgoth. In those camps are many foul creatures, orcs, trolls and other creatures I do not recognize from my past experiences. You have been designated leader of our group by Turin however so I shall accept any eventual decision you bring, if I think it is doable."</font>

OOC: A note for everyone participating in this game: I'd prefer if you not use sigs in the game as it would make it much clearer.

<font color=skyblue>Turin

"Alright. This is it, the beginning of our job. I am sure everybody knows what to do. Stick to one another and try not to get singled out. Remember that we are looking for human spies that we can divert or kill. All of you know what the horseman said. We have to keep our ruse up until the task is complete. Let us go down now into that settlement. I am sure that they have already spotted us by now from their watch-towers.
Let's go.</font>

The party of four made their way toward the settlement. Turin was going over strategies in his head for various scenarios that might come up in the next few days. He wanted to be ready to protect his comrades and save many lives besides.

For Turin's group:

Two guards in shiny ring mail stood outside the gate. One of them had a halberd in his hands the other had a sword attached to his belt and a shield on his back. The one with the halberd put his halberd at an angle as the group approached the gate. <font color=blue>"Identify yourselves! What are your names? And what is your business?" </font>

dplax 04-10-2004 11:48 AM

For Kirun's group:

Along the way towards the encampment they were stopped several times and asked about their business, but after saying that they were bringing elven captives they were let through and given directions through the encampments of all the different creatures. There were orcs, humans, trolls and creatures they did not knoy or were not able to identify from the sounds. Presently they arrived at the tower. Half-troll guards, at least three and a half meters high led them in to where slaves were being handed over. Most of the slaves were human or elven, but there were some dwarves among them too. They were told by the guards to stand in the line. When it was their turn the two elven captives were separetad from them and taken away down a long passageway towards the lower levels of the tower. Kirun and Bober were both handed 150 gold pieces each and after their questions of whether they could stay for some time they were led to a room on an upper level of the tower.

dplax 04-10-2004 11:55 AM

For Feldorn and Terias:

The passageway was long and the guards who were taking them were unkindly. They pushed them and dragged them and several times they fell to the ground. Their guards stopped suddenly and blindfolded them, which made the way even more painful for them as they stumbled more. A few minutes, although to them it seemed hours, later they were shoved into seperate cells next to each other. As their blindfolds were taken off they could see that there was nearly no light, but their elven eys could see that on the other side of the passageway many similar cells could be found. One of the guards told them that later they were going to be taken away to interrogation and then they would be assigned to work crews. The guards then locked the cages and left.

dplax 04-10-2004 11:58 AM

For Kirun and Bober:

The room they were given was small and dirty, the beds uncomfortable. The human guard who had accompanied them here told them that there was a drinking room not far away, also on the level a combat arena and beast pits could be found. He told them that they should not leave the level without permission, as they would get into a lot of trouble. He then left the room.

Xen 04-10-2004 03:51 PM

Bober was used to there kind of beds.<font color=white>HA! They all think that I am animal. But they have us room non the less. Should we search the area or not?</font> he asked his fellow friend.

"Well met friends! The three of us are strangers in your land and would like a place to rest and fill our stomachs! We are also looking to sell off this woodland elf that we have acquired. Tell me, are there any men of Morgoth here? I hear they pay well for slaves."</font>

dplax 04-13-2004 03:05 PM

<font color=blue>"You have come to the right place if you wish to sell a slave, we ship directly to the stronghold not far away. Take up quarters in the inn for the night though as our lord is busy this evening. You shall be able to see him then. If you wish you can hand over the elf to guards at the barracks or later when you meet our lord."</font> The guard then returned to his post, and one of his comrades showed them the way to the inn. It was a large, mainly wooden building, with some intricately carved designs above the door and the windows. They were given two rooms. One with one bed, the other with two.

OOC: You are free to converse with the populace in the inn, as they will regard you as allies, they do not know any state matters, but are able to tell you about the village and its surroundings. Feel free to make them say anything which could fit the game. If it isn't Ok I'll ask you to edit it anyway

Sythe 04-14-2004 04:09 PM

Roland walked toward the innkeep face to face. The inkeep was a short dwarf with a firey beard and was rubbing his axe with a wash cloth. <font color=green>"How you do?"</font> <font color=orange> "I'm doin fine thank ye very much! Tell me what yeh want so I can go back teh shinin meh axe!</font> Roland smiled and replied <font color=green> "Tell me about this area." </font> The dwarf eyed the young man from head to toe <font color=orange> "Well this is Lord Easthome's land. That is all there is you need to know' </font> The dwarf spat a huge wad of spit on his axe and started polishing it again with the cloth.

Roland knew that he should be more specfic.
<font color=green> "What kind of folk come through your inn?" </font> <font color=orange> "Mostly sellswords who are willing to be in service of Easthome.</font> <font color=green>"Why so many mercenaries?</font> <font color=orange> "Because Easthome put up notices in some towns that he is up for hiring mercenaries. He never stated the reason but I think it's a bit obvious. He is making an army in service of Morgoth. Lord Easthome was once a fierce battle commander I hear!</font> Roland thought he should let the others know about this.

For Turin's group:

The barkeep wanted to say more things to Roland, but could not as a dozen or so armed men came into the inn. Their leader a man clad in much shinier armor than the rest of them, and bearing a huge almost two meter long two handed sword looked around the room and then finally spotting the elf and the group which had brought him in he motioned to his men to spread out along the inn, in case the elf wanted to escape and then walked up to the group. The inkeep pointed a hand at Turin showing he was the leader of the group. <font color=lightgreen>"I am the captain of Lord Easthome's guard force. It has been brought to my attention that you have brought an elven prisoner."</font>-he said pointing at Therlion.<font color=lightgreen>"We shall take the prisoner now. Lord Easthome will speak to you in an hours time for your reward and some other business."</font> Two of his men were approaching Therlion to take him. <font color=lightgreen>"You elf! I prefer if you come quietly, although I would have no bad feelings whatsoever should we have to kill you."</font>

dplax 04-18-2004 05:24 AM

For Kirun and Bober:

After some drinking in the pub where there wer mostly humans and orcs along with a few dwarves they asked directions for the combat pits. At the entrance to the combat pits there were two half-orcs. One of them looked at them and seeing that they were well equipped for combat asked them: <font color=blue>"Will it be to fight or to spectate? We have some very good combats coming up. Hehehe. I look forward to seein them. If you onlly watch you pay a gold each. Taking part is free and if you win you get a tenner. Hehehe. I like the fights here. So what shall it be?"</font> His companion added:<font color=blue>"Yeah what shall it be?"</font>

dplax 04-18-2004 05:45 AM

For the two captive elves:

An hour or two could have passed, or even more since they had been locked up, they could not tell. They had tried talking, but guards of various races at different times promptly told them to shut up. It was completely dark in the corridor and their elven eyes could barely see the walls on the other side. All the other cells were empty, it seemed that either the prisoners were elsewhere or they were the only ones. A door creaked in the distance at the end of the passageway. A light entered the darkness. It hurt their eyes. Footsteps could be heard coming towards their cells. A group of orcs led by a giant orc, almost human size appeared in front of their cells. Eight orcs accompanied him. <font color=lightblue>"I am called Hurshakh. You shall know me very well before you die. If you are lucky enough to die and don't go to the slave pits. I am the torturemaster here. One of you shall be taken to be tortured for imformation now. One of the human guards has told me that he senses magic over you."</font>-he said pointing at Terias.<font color=lightblue>"We know how to handle your kind here. Take him."</font>

After opening the cage five orcs took him down the opposite way they had come down the passageway. They went through several doors, until they reached a large chamber where several prisoners seemed to be standing amongst a throng of guards. He was shackled together with a human. All the other prisoners were shackled together in pairs. They stood in front of a gigantic door. They waited for hours standing there, but eventually the door opened and through it Terias could see an immense arena with several doors like theirs all around it. Spectator stands could also be seen high up. A mace was suddenly thrust in his hand by one of the orcs. He heard his human companion whispering:<font color=black>"What are you good at?"</font> He had a short sword and a shield strapped to his wrist.

Meanwhile the rest of the orcs at the cells had grabbed Feldorn and were taking him the opposite direction as Terias had been taken. They went through three doors and then reached a small chamber which had various torture devices in it. Feldorn was strapped to a wooden bench and Hurshakh started to work on him. For hours Feldorn's shreeks of pain echoed in the chamber. All of his fingers were broken on his hands and on his feet, he was burnt, slashed, whipped, but still he would not speak, he would not give up imformation. <font color=lightblue>"As much as I am enjoying this, unfortunately I have to stop now."</font>-said his tormentor.

The door opened and a creature of shadow stepped in. A wraith it seemed to Feldorn. Fear struck him, a fear he did not now was possible. He started praying to his gods. The shadow figure murmured incantations, and the gradually but getting stronger and stronger he felt a desire to speak to this shadow creature. Half an hour later he was transferred back to a different cell where he was just thrown in. In the cell were a human and two elves. They cared for him and they were the ones who saved his life, since the injuries inflicted upon him had been grave. They told him that they were the ones, who after interrogaton had to put the prisoners back into shape for work in the quarries far below.

Larry_OHF 04-18-2004 07:49 PM

<font color=skyblue>Turin

Turin stood and walked between the elf and the commander.

"Now I really must interject here...for I know a bit about fare trades and the like. I think it would be in our best interest if we were to receive the money at the same time as the trading of the elf here. Anything less, and it would be risky for my step-sister and step-brother and me. We need the money, and cannot part with the elf until we have made an agreement on the price."

Turin was really beginning to panic now. He had not expected things to get so tough all the sudden. Maybe one of the others had a plan on how to save their companion. Until one of them did, Turin had to stand his ground with what he had. If it came down to fighting, he hoped to be able to identify who were the allies of Morgoth beforehand. He must not fail the mission!</font>

OOC>>Take note...Turin does not yet know what Roland wanted to tell him.

dplax 04-18-2004 08:06 PM

For Turin's group:

The captain motioned his men to stand still, as he pondered what Turin had said<font color=lightgreen>"I see. However Lord Easthome has requested to see the elf now. And he is not to be trifled with. Also he does not wish to see you and your step-sister and step-brother until later. I can give you ten gold pieces now and you shall get the rest later from Lord Easthome."</font> He handed a small pouch of coins to Turin. <font color=lightgreen>"Now kindly hand over your captive."</font>

OOC: Note the captain is still friendly to the group however it seems that he fears disobeying orders more than a confrontation with Turin and co.

The Fallen One 04-20-2004 08:02 PM

Terias was feeling very awkward by the time the orcs dragged him down to the pit, since he wasnt very skilled in weapon combat, except for his staff. His skill with the staff was not very exceptional and wouldnt do much against a sword or a mace. He though about enchanting his staff more than once during the trip down to the pit.

When he heard the little man ask him what he was good at, Terias first thought of making something up but then, he realized that this man was just another prisoner like him. So he didnt mind telling him the truth <font color="red">" I m not really skilled in weaponry, except for my staff, which would of course not do much against a sword or a mace. But perhaps i can enchant the weapon that they handed me, and make it behave like a staff..." </font> He would definately want to do that, but he didnt have the time or the right place to do that...

dplax 04-21-2004 07:03 AM

For Terias:

<font color=black>"You are a mage?"</font>-said the man chained to him a bit disbelievingly. <font color=black>"That should help in the battle to come."</font> He was just about to add something else, but the orc guards suddenly started pushing them towards the entrance. As the last prisoners passed the door it was closed behind them with a heavy thud. In the arena there was nearly total silence. It seemed that everyone in the stands was anxiously waiting for the combat to start. There were altogether fifteen pairs of prisoners. None of them knew what they would have to affront, as Terias's companion explained it to him, it could be anything from wild animals to humanoids. The silence was pierced by a creak as a large door, much larger than the one they had come through opened on the opposite side of the pit. The tension as to what was going to come through the door could be felt. The silence was suddenly over as the crowd started cheering. Evidently they already saw what was coming. A trolls head appeared in the doorway and then its whole body. Three more followed. All had large clubs with them. Some of the pairs of prisoners moved into more advantegous positions as the trolls approached. Terias's companion turned to Terias and said: <font color=black>"Damn it. Four trolls. Your weapon will be useless here. I suggest that when the trolls get here you use your magic. I shall try to cover your back."</font> One of the pairs who was in front of them charged on one of the trolls. The elf on the left was crushed by one swing of the club. The force of the swing lifted his body and sent him and the man he was chained together with flying ten meters backwards. Another one of the trolls was approaching Terias and his companion. <font color=black>"Now do something!"</font>-the man shouted.

<font color="FF3300">Kirūn elbowed Bober. "Aye, what will it be? I'd say let's watch a round or three beforehand. How about it?"</font>

Xen 04-21-2004 04:50 PM

Bober lifted his eyebrow and said:"<font color=white>Aye sounds good to me my dear laddie. And while we`re at it should we order some ale?"</font>

dplax 04-21-2004 07:41 PM

<font color=blue>"Two gold pieces then. You can get the drinks inside. The fight in the large arena has already started. The two small ones shall start in ten minutes. Enjoy."</font>

The half-orc opened the door, and then closed it behind them as they entered. At the end of a rather short passageway was a room with a few tables and chairs in it. A man sat at one of the tables. <font color=blue>"Drinks?"</font>-he asked as they approached him. Behind him on the wall two roughly painted signs said main arena and small arenas, with arrows pointing in opposite directions.

dplax 04-21-2004 07:45 PM

Elsewhere in the stronghold:

The information extracted from Feldorn had by now reached the commander of the stronghold. The wraith had done his job, and with a complex spell had extracted information from Turin's mind and now was telling the commander what he had learnt. After the wraith left the commander pondered what he had been told for some time. After formulating a plan he called for a lieutenant and a messenger. The plan he had formulated was devious. He spoke to the two men for ten minutes then dismissed them. Each left on their own mission, the messenger leaving the stronghold, while the lieutenant stayed there.

Xen 04-22-2004 03:50 PM

Kirun and Bober stepped into the room. Someone asked them if they wish something to drink. Bober said:<font color=white>"I`ll have one ale."</font>
He turned to his friend and asked:<font color=white>"So will we wait here for ten minutes or do we hurry up to the arena?"</font>

Bozos of Bones 04-22-2004 06:19 PM

Therlion looked around the room, noting the guard who isn't taking his eyes off him. He heard a few words that Roland said and he started thinking about what was Roland's plan.

Roland was just as panicked as Turin. He knew what takes place here can affect the entire mission. Roland suddenly had a very wild idea but it risked the life of their elven companion. <font color=green>"We would be willing to hand over the elf if you give us the reward AND take myself and my siblings to Lord Easthome. I wish to discuss something with the humble lord." </font> Roland detested the words he had said but knew it was necessary. He would tell Turin and Robyn his plan once they are all alone together.

The Fallen One 04-22-2004 08:27 PM

Terias quickly recalled that a troll's weakness was fire, he thought about enchanting his weapon with fire. Suddenly as his first thought of enchantment, he realized that his weapon was wooden, and it might not survive the enchantment.....He would have to take that chance. If it failed, he would just resort to a Fire spell. He also thought if he should help the man talking to him, though he scarce even knew his name. Terias asked him, <font color ="red"> Should i enchant your weapon with fire as well, as trolls are weak against fire?</font>"

[ 04-22-2004, 08:28 PM: Message edited by: The Fallen One ]

dplax 04-23-2004 06:30 AM

For Terias:

<font color=black>"That might help. Go ahead then."</font>

In the meantime the other trolls engaged in combat with the rest of the prisoners. One of the trolls was being brought down by several prisoners while the other two were at a sort of standstill with three pairs of prisoners.

OOC: If Terias decides to enchant the weapons with fire the troll who is coming towards them will be getting close by the time he finishes, and Terias will barely have the time for another spell after that.

dplax 04-23-2004 06:35 AM

For Turin's group:

The captain of the guard was getting a bit annoyed with this group. He did not understand what their problem could be, except possibly they did not trust Lord Easthome for giving them the money. <font color=lightgreen>"It is not in my authority to give you the money, I only got authority to give you an advance of 10 gold pieces."</font>- he paused for a moment thinking, then he motioned to one of his men whispered in his ear and the man left the inn.<font color=lightgreen>"We shall see what Lord Easthome says to your proposal."</font>-he said to Roland.

dplax 04-23-2004 06:50 AM

<font color=yellow>Robyn Stratsworth

Robyn had not seen the need to speak so far as she thought that her companions were handling the situatin adequately enough. She did not feel any hostility from the guard captain.

Through the teachings of her mother she had learnt reading emotions and reactions and apart of a simple annoyance because of losing time here she could only see the man's fear of doing something his lord would not like. As she read his facial expressions and movements of hand while he spoke a curiosity started perking up in her. The idea she had been formulating ever since she made the link that the scout groups leader was the son of the man who commanded here was coming to fruition. From what she had heard from the guard captain Lord Easthome was a busy man and he would be more than annoyed with the fact that bringing the elf before him was being delayed. She decided that she would try out her idea:

Turning to the captain she said"You could tell your Lord that we are friends of his son. We met him two days ago during our journey here out in the wilderness. We told him we would be coming here and he told us we would be welcome. This is not the welcome we were expecting here. And besides all of us know that even for an advance fee 10 gold pieces is nothing for an elf as skilled as this one.</font>

The guard captain looked uncomfortable as she spoke about Lord Easthome's son.<font color=black>"I shall see what Lord Easthome says."</font> He turned and left the inn leaving only three of his men in the inn who stayed in a position as to stop Therlion from escaping.

Larry_OHF 04-25-2004 04:58 PM

<font color=skyblue>Turin

That was too close! Turin thought as he watched the men leave, leaving behind three of their ranks. He walked up to Roland and Robyn.

"Thanks, you two. If we can keep our heads, we'll see our way through this...but it won't be easy. We do what we must."

Turin decided that he needed to learn more about these guys, so he walked up to the three soldiers, to inquire...

"So...how did you get into this business? Does it pay well?"

He wanted to pry into this group a bit more, and hoped that he had a talker on his hands here. </font>

dplax 04-25-2004 07:16 PM

The guards who have been asked a question:

The three guards looked at each other trying to decide which one of them had been asked the question. After a few moments thought one of them replied. <font color=blue>"The pay is good, but I do not do it for the money. I do it because I believe that what our lord does is the right thing.</font> The others remained silent for a while, it seemed they were waiting for Turin to say something. He then asked him: <font color=blue>"And you? What's in it for you?"</font>
