'Well, looks like there are more o' the buggers left than I thought.'
Since he was wounded lightly in quite a few places now he didn't need to be so frenzied and took up a defensive stance, waiting for one of the flesh eaters to reach him. |
Mui goes over to Derkian and takes up a defensive stance next to him. "Shall we fight them on our own terms?"
|
OOC: darn puter...
IC: Sheria leaped from behind a tree, whirling twin blades in her hands. The first slipped a fraction as she hurtled toward a ghoul, merely scratching him on the shoulder. Her second was hastily flung upwards, striking its eye. With a howl, the ghoul lashed out at her, his powerful hands slamming into her arm. Wincing, she dodged and slung a last knife to finish it off as it fell. |
OOC: Hooray, Lioness posted! :D
IC: Mui explodes from his defensive stance, bringing his sword up while he steps forward. The rising blade strikes the ghoul in front of him on the hip and moves up, cutting a line from hip to shoulder. The ghoul falls apart, and Mui glares at the one remaining ghoul. |
Karzheik waited until the ghoul was almost upon him, then cleaved upwards through the ghouls side, taking off a chunk of it's shoulder and it's whole arm.
In retaliation the ghoul slammed a clawed hand into Karzheik's arm, gritting his teeth, he set to work on the beast, hacking brutally at it, occasionally missing but eventually the ghoul lay in several chunks on the floor. The battle however had made it's mark, he had a nasty claw mark where it had pierced quite far into his arm. 'The undead bastard!' He spat on it's limp body then hefted his axe wearily one more time, though the rest seemed to be handling the remaining ones. |
OOC: Is that all of them? BTW, For clarification, there is: Neb, Seph, Talthyr, Regin, Binky, Jerome, Tiamat, and me, right?
|

Yeah, unless Tiamat dulls down the uberosty, I don't think he'll be very welcome in the RPG, it really ruins the game.
|
Hey! I culd be the bad thing that made the lands inhospitable. I wuld be called The Ruiner, and I wuld command all of the monsters actions and spells. Its like when dm rolls for monsters! technically, it wuld be like starcraft/warcraft, but I will not send both Annihilation dragons at u...... they will be a secret... if nebly allows. Technically, I wuld be uber, and pretty much immortal (for sequels and for 'expansions') and you can only kill me to a point were i just dissappear laffing. Think of me as Sauron from LOTR, I command all monster troops and in a sequel i come back as an item or sumtin.
|
Khalist jumps down from the tree as the last of the ghouls fall, "Hooray! We did it! We managed to kill them all!" He quickly checks whether anyone's seriously injured, noone seems to be near death though they all seem to be tired and noone has escaped without at least minor scratches.
"Let's camp here, it's getting darker, we'll need to rest a bit in case there are more of those damn things around." He then makes a campfire from the black wood which seems to burn well, "I'll take the first watch, along with Derikan, Mui and Sherai will take the second, Urion will wake me up again and I'll take the last watch with him, if Rogal wakes up first he and Urion will take the last instead." Khalist made a few torches and lit two, he handed one of the two lit ones to Derikan and took the other himself, as the others dozed off and night fell the two sat on opposite sides of the small camp, watching for any sign of movement in the dark woods beyond the firelight. (OOC: The almighty 4-sided die commands that there shall be an attack during the 3rd watch, one undead beholder....) |

Just trying to add a little more fun......... god.

Mui turns to Sheria and says, "Great, we have second watch together. What should we do while waiting for the infamous monster that never rears its ugly head and attacks?"
|
It was deep into the night, and Karzheik was snoring loudly, punctuated with the occasional snort or other bodily noises, all of a sudden, he woke up with an extra loud snore, and looked around to see if anything abnormal was happening but decided it was fine after seing the flaming torches adrift in the air, so went back into dreams of ale, gold and a girl dwarf with one killer beard.
|
U'd still be dm, but i wuld control the monster portion- u can still say wat monsters are were.... and all i wuld do is control them. You wuld still roll for monster skills and such, but i will do basic attacking and defending. I will 'ok' wit u about stuff like this : Mui fights Red Dragon, and I wuld ask u if I culd use the breath weapon or I wuld have to live with the melee attacks. Thats just an example though......

'Mmmm, oooooh, woah, that is one nice set of..... facial hair'
The dwarf mumbled in his sleep, then rolled onto his back, snoring even louder and every so often punctuating them with a load blast of flatulence. OOC: Sorry guys, but until I can think of something interesting to do you'll have to put up with a noisy dwarf's sleeping pattern. |
Mui was sleeping peacefully, sitting upright on a sturdy tree branch braced against the trunk. His finely crafted longsword was in his sheath, and his sturdy studded leather armor was hung on an adjacent branch. It had been a stressful day, but good enough. He dreamt of his home, longing to be back in the City of Coin. Suddenly he awoke. It was time for his watch to begin. He went to Sheria and woke her, then told the two keeping watch that they could take a break. He then returned to his post in the tree, then donned his armor and sword.
|
(OOC: Please don't start the fight during the third watch too much without letting me post, I'd like to control the attacking critter's actions.)

Sheria rolled over and sat up, accepting the torch Derikan handed to her. She sat with her back against a tree, her cool green eyes watching for any signs of movement as she carelessly flipped a knife in her palm.

OOC:Well, it's getting late, I suppose I should get some sleep.
While I'm away, anyone except uberers can control my char, just please, try not to let him die. :D Last post here for tonight. IC: The large dwarf turned once more in his sleep, and awoke with a belch, scratching his head he realised he was far too hungry to sleep,so ate some food he had with him, then tried to get a decent uninterrupted night's sleep. |
The dwarf's rattling snoring was getting to Mui. For the third time that night it had begun, and his patience was running out. "Do you know any way of silencing a loud snoring dwarf?" he whispered to Sheria, who was quite occupied but looked kinda lonely.

"I know a way, but I don't think our leader would appreciate losing one of the company." With a wink, she secreted the knives again, and rolled the dwarf over so his snores were less obvious. [ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Lioness ]
|
"Well, I suppose that works. At least now I can hear if anything's making its way here." Mui returns the wink then climbs higher up the tree to the less stable branches for a better vantage point.
|
OOC: ladeda...time passes
IC: *Glancing up at the moon, Sheria, gestures to Mui to come down from the tree, and makes her way over to Urion. Waking the theif, she hands him teh lantern and returns to her bed and sleep* |
Mui, following Sheria's gesture, gently climbs down the tree and gets back to his position. He goes back to sleep on the branch, and dreams of beautiful and glorious things.
|
Urion wakes Khalist and together the two keep watch, nothing happens for an hour or so, and the sky brightens a bit, but then, suddenly, something can be seen moving in amongst the trees....
A pale, floating orb... An undead beholder, it's body rotted and decayed yet still retaining some of the power that it had in life. Khalist and Urion do their best to wake those that can be woken as the beholder approaches, fast. As the beholder enters the small clearing it unleashes a Sleep spell on the small party and quite a few of them immediately fall into a deep slumber(Anyone who's not online during the battle, saves us the trouble of acting for those who aren't here.). Khalist looks around to see who's still awake.... |
The unmistakable scent of the grave permeates Mui's nostrils and beckons him from his dream. Enraged at being woken from such happy images, he drew his longsword and looked around for the source. Not too far away he saw a floating orb with many eyes coming out from the center and immediately recognized it as an undead beholder. Finally, all his years of training would come to help him in a dire moment. He shouted a warning to the others in case they were still asleep, then got on a branch running behind the beholder.
OOC: my racial enemy is beholder, btw. |
Sheria gapes at the monster before her, but quickly rolls up and out of bed, fanning out to the left of the others, with her short sword bared.
OOC: Correct me if I'm wrong, but weapons will do damage against beholders, right? But they have very high magic resistance? |

quote:
Originally posted by Lioness:

OOC: Correct me if I'm wrong, but weapons will do damage against beholders, right? But they have very high magic resistance?

OOC: Yeah, thats right. IC: Mui turns the point of his sword downwards and leaps down on the beholder. It roars in pain then turns on Mui, but before it can get all the way around the stalker has gone back under it and escaped to form up with Sheira and Khalist |
"Okay," said Khalist, "Perhaps we should make a plan, I will run directly towards it and try to hit it's central eye, Mui, you run left and attack it's left flank, Sheria, you run right and attack it's right flank, got it? Okay, ready, go!"
Khalist charges forward fearlessly heading directly towards the undead beholder's central eye.... |
Making her way to the right, Sheria flings a dagger, that barely harms the undead creature. She sees the beholder turn its many eyes on the companions and she falls flat as an incredible blast of power slams over them. She escapes most of it, she is still hit, and her next dagger misses.
[ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Lioness ]
|
Mui curves outward to the left, keeping his eyesight centered on the beholder while he moves. He's careful to blend in with the night scenery again, then moves in to attack from the left. The beholder doesn't know of his approach, so when Mui's iron blade pierces its rubbery flesh it wails in pain even more, but stays looking at Khalist
|
Khalist leaps towards it's central eye and draws a dagger from his belt as he does so, he points the dagger towards the eye intending to stab it. Unfortunately he instead strikes the beholder's "brow" above the eye, angering it more than doing any damage.
The beholder unleashes a blast of energy(Cause serious wounds) from one of it's eyestalks, this blast flings Khalist across the clearing and into a tree which he almost goes through. Khalist is knocked unconscious.... (OOC: That's the only way I'll be getting some sleep tonight ) |
Mui looks with horror as his friend is knocked unconscious. Then, in a fit of rage, he kicks one of the beholder's eyestalks off and sends it careening off into the night. The creature turns its attention on Mui, who almost freezes up with fear. However he swallowed his fear, and ducked low under the incoming blast of the same kind that felled Khalist. "We're in a bit of a bind here, think?"
|
As the beholder attacks Khalist, Sheria moves in, attacking the beholder with her short sword. She stabs it just below one of the smaller eyes, sending a tremor through the beast. (critical hit) A slice of a dagger removes another small eye.
