Give mages Piety. Piety increases Spell points, it is a must for all spellcasters.
|
heh, not necessarily. Especially if you're progressing well enough to get the Robes of Rejuv around L15-17. If you spend even an hour practising, you can scoot your Realms up; Realm Skill is one of your best sources for SP. You'll have plenty SP and regen fast enough if you know all the spells you can and are going for Powercast. I fiddled around with Piety for around 3 dozen various characters, and the only reason to have anyone over 55 (ex Priest, eh) in it is if you're going for Iron Will. Which is a very benificial Bonus Skill, which can be practised up unbelievably fast at the Mindblast door.
But that's a digression. Pushing Pi over 55 in order to increase HP and SP is less effective than pumping Int for SP and Vit for HP and Stamina. Another reason is Int is the primary learning attribute for many more things than Pie. (EDIT) I just was back in the game, and i realised, i have to include MANA STONES in any discussion of paucity of SP. Even as few as one per caster, which you can obtain fairly easily by L8, will also moderate your SP pool needs. Use them judiciously and have them recharged before they run out, and they'll keep you casting. [ 08-08-2004, 01:15 AM: Message edited by: Scatter ] |
Hello folks,
now I'm in the South East Wilderness and I know, there is a temple. But what I don't know is how to get in. I have been running around all day but can't find an entrance. please help! thank you! |
There is a trail from near the gazebo with all of the stuff in it (by the water) - I think it's kind of North, with an open field just to the east of the trail (sometimes with Nightmares that love to run away or cast spells just beyond weapon range), follow the trail and you'll see the temple (it sounds like you did find it ?), get up the steps and entrance should be 'always open' but behind a wall (the Lazerite stone is right behind that wall too - hope you brought some electrodes...). Once you get behind that wall, you WILL be greeted (likely with repeated Death Wish spells - kind of like visiting in-laws for too long !).
This assumes that you are in the North East Wilderness, and not Ascension Peak - which has some large gates to unlock as well... Hope that helps. And my combat secret is RUN FOR YOUR LIFE and hope that they lose interest in you !! Of course a Pre-emptive Eye for an Eye can be quite effective when attacked with Death Wish... |
Hey, Micha, what is that creature on your picture? It's from KotOR?
|
I already walked past it, it seems, but on top of the hill there was no door, only a round building along. I too, saw some diremares and had to run after them (hunted them down) to kill them. I have to look more closely, it seems, to see the door.
|
go up the steep 'steps' behind the horsey statue. It's a wide opening with a narrow opening behind a free structure which blocks your view in, and lets you get right close to the inner opening before you end up engaging anything.
|
Please, Micha, answer me!

Just before you enter you may want to cast Chameleon at its highest level, this will let you sneak up on one side behind the pillars. A well placed death bomb helps to start things off along with an Eye For an Eye potion or spell. Soul shield and purifie air come in handy. A few elementals would be handy also, for an all magic party. Throw out the elementals and then haste them. To me it's the toughest fight in the game for the level you are when you get there. If Scatter is out there, he seems to have it down pretty good.

I have done the temple!
Many thanks for your help! After all it wasn't too difficult. My party is average 19 or 20. Now I'm looking for Marten. Haven't found him yet. How do I get to the Seacaves? Only via Bayjin shallows? In the region Mountain Wilderness is the Ascension Peak, too. Should I go and fight my way through the hordes to it or do I have to wait for a quest? @ Fiend of the 9 Worlds: yes it from KotoR, a must for every RPG-freak! Micha, you need to get to the sea caves to find Marten. You can enter from Nessi's layer it's one of the tunnles exiting. there is no reason to wait to go to Ascension peak. You can wander around to gain exp. points or take the other two objects you have to the rightful place.
|
And if you take them one at a time, it'll be easier.
For Sea Caves you enter either from Bayjin or the Gigas underwater part via the Umpani training area. |
Personally, I'd go via Bayjin. I'm sorry but I hated the Gigas underwater area. It was so aggravating.
And Michas, since you are strong enough, go to Ascension Peak. You will gain levels so fast, and will enjoy the challenge of hard fights. Go for it. |
And when you're in Bayjin, first go to the left and around the mountain. I think its easier this way, you fight some crabs instead of running right into the largest group of Rynjin. Then hide in one of the huts and take down Rynjins one by one. And be sure you use Soul Shield or... :)
|
@ Scatter:
do you mean I get to the caves from Bayjing or from Bayjing Shallows? The reason of my question is this: I have Vi in my party. She won't go with me in the Gigas underwater area and the region of nessi. So I thought we go via teleporter to Bayjin (I have the island "portalsetted") Then she only complains but can nothing do and can only help me fight my ways. But as I see it, we can only go via water (with diving suits) to the sea caves, can't we? Problem is I have only 7 diving suits on Bayjin stored. If we only can arrive the sea caves via diving, I have to release Vi (wonder where I have trashed the eightth suit). Is there a way to reach the sea caves without getting wet? |

Remember that RFS-81 doesn't need a diving suit. By the way, its a bit strange... Robot working under water... :)

Now I'm in the Rapax Rift for the first time.
I have fought some of them and now I'm looking for the staff of Ash (to save Rafe). Can I join the Rapax for some queste, too? Recently I came to the Rapax Away camp by chance. They didn't let me pass since I first have to become a "Templar" How is that possible? I once have completed the T'Rang's quest and killed an Assassin in an ambush. I thought they all hate me, as I saw in the Mountain Wilderness by the many Rapax enemies. |
much spoilers, like in most posts here :)
I don't wanna spoil your fun so I put the dots :-D . . . . . . . . . You can become a Templar no matter how much Rapax you've killed before. You just have to get to the Rapax Castle Main Level, find the Initiation Temple and follow the instructions given you by friendly Rapax. You will be forced to fight 3 groups of 2 elemental lords, so be prepaired. After initiation talk to one of the Rapax Templars (I don't remember his name) and he will tell you that now you are friend of the Rapax. Then you will see something like "Your rating with Rapax Common has increased" and "Your rating with Rapax Templars has increased" and then Rapax won't attack you... until you attack them or do something against them. To leave Rapax territories safely after initiation you have to kill Al-Sadexus in her room in the Rift (that one guarded by El Dorado). |

Heh, Dark Savant looks a bit like Lord Vader. :) Look at his face when you fight him, it looks almost like Vader's face in Return of the Jedi (egg shape, no hair and those eyes... maybe they are brothers...) :-D

B
i g A l - S e d e x u s SPOILER Kill her BEFORE becoming a Templar. Half as hard to kill, and if you want, you can kill her again anyway, but you won't need to. And you can kill her spawns openly if you kill her first. Otherwise you have to insta-death them or freeze them and run away. |
Please help me!
How do I get over the lava-rivers? I'm in Rapax Rift and I don't know how to proceed. I'm in the prisoner cells but I can not get to Al-Sedexus' Chamber!?? Thanks! Micha |
Ok, there is one area where they actually made you use knowledge for a puzzle. There is this ground area with this warden fence. By that fence, is a hallway that has been broken in by lava. You cannot cross. SO, find out how to cross.
SPOILERS>>> THE ANSWER 1 1 1111 1 1 11 There is a wooden beam that you can click on around there, do it, and it collapses, making a walkway. From there, use the teleporters to get around, up that stairwell place. |
Yeah, that one was a bit tricky.

Hello folks,
I'm in the Mountain Wilderness at those runes for Retro Dungeon Activation. I have activated all pillar stones, but I don't know what sword (it has to be a long sword, that's for sure) I must put in the stone and/or how to do it. I have uncountable swords, but no sword will do it!? What's wrong? Besides, what does "Retro" mean? Is this a dungeon for the after game? Many Thanks for your help! Micha |
You just pick up the sword from the inventory screen, go out into the game screen where u can move around, while still holding the sword, and click on the stone.
Retro dungeon? Well retro means in the past, but I still don't know why the call it that. Possibly because they used monsters from other Wizardry games. |
It is called "retro dungeon" beacuse it looks a bit like dungeons in earlier parts of Wizardry. And also the map doesn't work there, because you don't have a mapmaking set... :-D
|
My 2 Ninja' have proven themselves and are now at lvl 22. I think I'll goof around with 2 Valkerie; been missing those extented weapons!
|
????
|
Longsword. Not Long Sword. Just a plain old Fighter-start-kit Longsword.
|
Right, the other circles need plain weapons too: Short Staff and a Dagger.

Enjoy! |
Is there a precondition to be fulfilled to get the sword in the stone?
I have tried dozens of times but it won't work!? Perhaps the puzzle is jammed: First I have touched the symbols to get them brighten. Then some enemies have distracted me. (I also thought, I don't have the rigth sword with me). Now, days later I'm back here in the region with many swords (smirking). |

It has been known, if you don't complete all the activation steps in one go, it can effectively "hang" the activation sequence. It's ok to go off fight some monsters, converse with NPCs, trade etc, just stay within one "load screen" area. If you have left, then returned and cannot get it to work, you've lost access to that dungeon for this game. You either have to load a previous save game prior to leaving, or live with in, and remember to do all the steps next time. Sorry, if this brings bad news to you. |
Or you didn't finish touching all the runes. There's one that looks lit all the time, and in this one they have to be touched in a certain sequence. If the center stone didn't turn greenish yellow (and glow) then you didn't touch all the runes. And if you can't now, then refer to above post.
