Monopoly and Trivial Pursuits get my votes.

Has anyone ever heard of Totopoly - it is a horse racing game along the lines of Monopoly?

That's not completely true...
I was told you chessplayers already win when there are like twenty turns left to play, but I don't realise I've lost until there are two moves to go (three on a good day )

To actually see your opponent' face, when your opponent realises you've played the decisive move, nothing even comes close to that feeling

Okay, so I'm exaggerating my lack of chess skills. I know how each piece moves and I just learned there's something called hitting en passant (rough translation, probably not too far from the truth). Opened up a whole new world where I race across the field to do just that :D
And I actually did beat the computer on some occasions

Most of the time, your opponents know it if the decisive move is played, and realize it immediately, sorry for not being specific enough . So actually,we're saying the same here.

Nice move,en passant isn't it??
Just waiting for pawns to come forward....

You may have been exaggerating, but I wasn't!

I learned to play chess in the sixth grade, and I still play at about the same level...lol. One problem for me was that no one I knew cared for the game. I taught some friends, but they only played occasionally to please me, and that's not a good learning enviroment. :(

I'm from Holland Ron,so i have no idea what your age is in 6th grade

you're right about the environment.I learned playing when i was 7,so i'm playing 25 years now.Still with as much fun as i started with
and still playing regularly.

what is en' passant?

also my favorite is risk, whenever me and my family play there is some much screaming and... its a beautiful thing...

Campino 12-06-2001 07:41 PM

when you play a pawn 2 places forward(so only possible in the first move of that pawn, for example c2-c4),and it lands on a place directly next to an opponets pawn(in this case b4 or d4),your opponent may hit the pawn on c4,as if it went just 1 field forward, but only in the move directly after the pawn went 2 fields forward.Hope it is clear this way.

Axis and Allies is an all time favourite
Pente--leather board and the glass beads?anyone else know this one
Squad Leader is tops.Almost to technical, some games have taken over three weeks.Don,t bump into board. If you have cats, keep them as far away from the board as possible.Nothing ruins 4 days of gaming like a curious cat skidding across the top of the gameboard surface.Pieces everywhere.
