What's this with 'unlocking your car door first'?
Do you have to keep your car doors locked while you are driving?
Hardly anyone in Britain locks the car unless they are leaving it parked.

I believe they mean when approching a parked car. Although propriety would also call for (when parking) the man to get walk around and hold the door while the lady gets out. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I do all those except get out and run to the other side of the car to open the door for them. The few times I tried the person was already getting out and why not? its easier to grab a handle and be out then wait a while longer for someone else to do it for you.

I like someone to open a door for me IF IT MAKES SENSE. For instance, I despise it when anyone, male or female, is fifty feet ahead of me and holds a door open until I get there. It is a huge waste of either air conditioning or heating and I am perfectly capable of opening a door myself. However, equally one should hold a door open if the person following is right behind, rather than have the door slam in that person's face. Also, I will hold a door open for anyone if they are carrying something and would obviously have trouble opening the door themselves.

As for seats on a bus/train, I would give up mine readily to a pregnant woman or a woman carrying a child, or a man appearing sick, or some of the elderly. But... I work on my feet all day, and if my back and feet are aching, I reallllllly want to sit down, I'm not giving that seat up.

My husband is a Southern boy, and while some of the customs have disappeared since the wedding http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif he is very protective, even though I'm an Air Force veteran, have played on a men's soccer team, and can outshoot him if necessary. So when he's sweet with his manners, I appreciate it even more because it makes me feel feminine and delicate.

Personally, I make a serious effort to hold open doors for women, whether I know them or not. And as for giving up my seat, most definitely.

Other things I do? Buy flowers just because, give hugs just because, genuinely listen to them, comfort them (without trying to make any moves), open up and make myself vulneralble, all sorts of little things. And not just to a woman that I'm dating. Any of my female friends get that kind of treatment. Generally, I try to treat women with all the respect that they deserve.

So many of the women that I know don't get the respect that they deserve, that I make it a point to show them that they are respected, at least by me.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's been raining on and off all day long. Man, I hate this weather. Been living here all my life, but still hate these rainy and cold stretches.
