I find Anomen very annoying, but the truth be told, he is a good NPC.
As already mentioned, he is a good Cleric, as well as a good Fighter. If you have ToB, he'll get very good high-level abilities. He also suits in to most parties, beeing Lawful Neutral.

the 1st time i found out that female characcters could pursue a romance only with anomen, the 1st thought to enter my head was "gee these chicks have real bad taste in judging looks & personality"

If anomen dies fighting Vamps it's your fault as a player, as a cleric he has access to spells that make vampires all but worthless, turn undead, sunray, sol's searing orb, false dawn, negative plane protection, etc.

Actually, from a pure role-playing perspective, I like the twit. Why? Because he's the only character in the game who actually changes based upon the choices you make. If you take him down the "good" path, his alignment changes, he gets a title upgrade, and he gets a much higher Wisdom score. If you take him down the "dark" path, a corresponding change occurs as well.

Granted, I haven't played a female lead, so I have no idea how soppy/sappy the guy gets in it *shudder*, but as a counterpart to a male lead, he is a more than competent fighter/cleric, filling two needed slots at once. Plus, the way the more chaotic characters in the game rib him, it's a scream! Jan's "Ano the Dung Orc" story had me rolling, and even Nalia gives him a jibe or two. Keldorn and he almost come to blows (and both of them are Lawful and at the same organization!) ToB note: If you play through ToB, Imoen ribs him as well,

P.S. I realize this is a day late and several dollars short, but in future, when responding to posts, please watch the language. No matter how frustrated one is, saying that a character "sucks d***" is totally unacceptable here. Thanks!

personally i dont care, you can be swearing like a trooper and i still wont bat an eye-lid, but some people are offended by it. It's not polite anyway, it takes extra effort to swear, so why bother?

He is the best GOOD cleric; that is, the best Cleric for a Good Party without the Happy Group Scripts.
He is infact second only to Viconia, who is evil.

Aerie is also quite good, except for her low hit points, and slow levels.

Those three are the only Clerics in the game.
So, If you need a high level cleric- that`s Viconia.
If you need a Cleric who can double as a tank, that`s Anomen.
If you need a Cleric and a Mage at once, go with Aerie.

And to anyone who brings it up, NO Jaheira and Cernd don`t go with Anomen as Clerics who can tank, because they are druids.
Valygar and Minsc don`t go into any of the categories, because they are rangers.
Keldorn doesn`t go into the groups because he is a Paladin.

And, no, Anomen is NOT a Paladin.

Take heed that you are not the only one who uses this forum. The rules are set in such a way that it caters to the majority and is family-friendly. Swearing at times is understandable, but do take the time to review your posts before you submit them.

Use this rule of thumb: is what you posted something you would say to your mother's face?

Then again, given some moms I've run across, maybe I should rethink that heuristic...

LOL! I was going to use that analogy, but I expected some wiseguy to say that he/she does; then I considered replacing the mother with a five year girl but the same problem remained.

Good analogies are hard to come by these days.
