That sucks! Feel sorry for you! My family's the best, they're almost all (including extended family) really cool people and I get on well with most of them. And half of them think I'm the greatest person in the world (well they ARE biassed) so how can I not love 'em for that :D

And I've more or less been adopted by my dearest friend's family, so it's all good for me. And half ot hem think I'm the greatest person in the world... when yous ays family, i think the one i grew up with, and they come last. my husband comes first (counts as a friend because he is my best friend) then friends, then the family i grew up with. of course i have many issues with my family, and i do love them, i have lost respect for them for various reasons, tho.

and of course, you didn't ask, but i'll tell you now, my kids come absolute first.

Hmm a lot of people say their kids come first above all else. Maybe I'll understand this fully if/when I have any of my own.

However, my mum always used to say to me "choose your wife carefully...your parents die and your kids grow up and leave, but your wife will always be there"

I heard a variation on that by some sand-up comedian:

"Choose your wife carefully. Your parents die and your kids grow up and leave, but your wife will go on... and on... and on..."
