I think we have made ourselves the technological equal of the cockroach.I think we will only be completely removed from exsistance by sudden ice age, astorid,or the like. That is unless before that we have managed to "infect" other planets before it comes. The way I look at it is every kind of life gets a chance to roll the dice and make the best of thier run.Heck the dinos went around 150 million years on thiers we ain't gonna come even close, but we still win they never came up with pong. ;)

Humans are stupid. That is a fact. Perhaps not compared to for example.... Dung beetles, but compared to ants or bees we certainly are. They've got a good, cooperative society where everyone works for the greater good and not for the greater greed. Imagine what we could do if we had a hive mind..... All of our power and skills would be focused excellently where it was needed and noone would go against the others in order to further themselves..... |

The question isn't whether or not a natural disaster, or the universe collapsing, etc, will destroy the planet. Its whether or not the human race will destroy itself one day. I agree, there is no way we can know the answer for certain, but we can definately get an inkling of what we are doing as a race. And we can certainly do something about it. Its like saying of the nuclear war threat in India and Pakistan: "They might fire it, who knows and who cares. We can't so anything about it". Well, some people can do something about it, and they are members of the human race as well. Far from being powerless to stop its own actions the human race is the only thing with the power to stop itself destroying itself (ain't that a mouthful...). |

Er, I doubt we will EVER function as a hive community. A human's brain is so complex that no two are exact, and no two have EXCACTLY the same goal, as in hive situations. The short story is, we're all individuals, and while some want to all work together, there'll always be some who stand out.

as long as we keep dedicating our existance to this single solitary hunk of rock in space we will be doomed, we must be able to break free, let go, and move on to other, better, places...

here's the deal
I gain Godly powers and tentacles and will stop humanity destroying itself - how's that for a bargain? ;) |
