Azrael, I feel your pain, my friend. While I haven't had many jobs that actually offered opportunities for promotions, I have been passed over in the application process for a job. The last one went to the nephew of a board member of the company. Oh Well.

You should ABSOLUTELY start looking for a more satisfying job. In the meantime, just follow Moni's advice and keep in mind that your crap-job is at least paying the bills until something better comes along. In my old job (as a Purchasing Clerk) there was no room for advancement, but the company had good health insurance. I have a chronic illness, so I was pretty much stuck there. I didn't care about a promotion (at that time), but I DID complain constantly about the pay scale (which was pathetic). Eventually, I got an opportunity for a managerial position at a different hospital. That's where I am now.

Skywalker - I have to disagree with "suffering in silence". My first year as a manager here, I faced a plethora of problems, not the least of which was a "revolving-door" of personnel. While the employees left of their own accord or for lack of performance, it still reflected badly on me. Two weeks before my first evaluation, my boss called me into his office and said that all the doctors for our hospital were demanding that I be fired, because "I never did any work!!!" (I even had one doctor tell me this to my face  )

When my boss told me that, I lost my temper and I told him point-blank that "If he didn't like the job I was doing, then he could send me home and hire somebody else!" Afterwards, I couldn't believe I had actually done that, but the boss respected me for standing up for myself. I've now been at this job for 3 years.

As I used to say in my old job "Sometimes, you HAVE to blow your own horn. Otherwise, nobody will even know you have one."

I can't say for sure which option I'd use, but I will definately keep the urinated on the boss' desk near the top of the list. :D

I can't tell you how much more i hate this place because of that. I thought they promoted some else not as stupid as this person, but this person is worse.
