In all honesty Ladyzekke, coming from my biology professor and based on my experience through years of drinking, it is the best thing to keep from being the sickest you could be after waking up hungover.
I got a 98 in that class and was exempt from taking the final for my overall high scores throughout the semester...the lectures on alcohol were given by the both of us lol since I was the only student in the room that knew all the answers prior to reading the material. I wasn't the only student over 30 either lol. She was impressed but at the same time stated it was obvious that I had been a heavy drinker in my earlier days. She was right. The best thing you can do for a hangover is to avoid getting one altogether by drinking in moderation and making sure that you've eaten before you even start. |

Also, I figure that wouldn't work if you were chucking it up in the morning would it? LOL, Ralph! Hurry up and bring me that martini! |
Hair of the dog has never worked for me... drinking LOTS of water before bed has worked if I hadn't already gotten a headache.
The absolute best thing I've ever experience for hang over destruction is Tylenol with Codine... it's very strange to go from a wicked hangover to NOTHING in the space of 20 minutes. That codine is some awesome stuff! Sadly it's also not available over the counter here in the US, after taking it (after surgery) I can see how people can get addicted to morphine, there's no pain medication I've ever taken that worked half as well as this stuff. One thing I'd warn people, there's some pain medications that can have very bad interactions with alcohol, and basically trash your liver. Be very careful about taking stuff while you're still "UI" and don't take more than the recommended dosage! Not sure if it's Tylenol or ibuprofen... but one of them can be bad. |
Gotta agree with Sir Kenyth about the drugs. Ibuprofen, Psudoephedrine, Sports/Electrolyte drink all taken together...Hangover gone. Best followed with cold 1-2 day old pizza, & coca cola.
|
Just keep in mind that with prolonged use of Ibuprofen and Acetominiphine (sp?) (Tylenol/Advil) that you are also risking severe kidney damage.
Nothing is better for aspirin purposes than aspirin...taken with plenty of water and it poses absolutely no risk to your stomach as is so popularly rumored by the pharaceudical pushers. Ladyzekke, Yeah LOL...I guess if you woke up barfing though that it might not seem like too appealing an idea. ;) |

drink one glass of water for every two drinks. this eliminates the chances of dehydration, which leads to hang over. or, you could always just drink a beer or two, or a couple shots of scotch (my favorite) and you are good to hook.

Of course the best way to avoid hangovers is to stay drunk.
