Comment: As someone who made a post in all honesty without any intent to flamebait whatsover, and received a rather, err, "warm" reply, it can be hard to judge if an honest post on a sensitive subject is going to be regarded as provocative to someone else. Pangur Ban |
ok, so its okay to make hateful jokes about bin ladin and terrorists, with their turbans and beards and all.
Why is it ok to make hateful jokes about diplomatics and pacifists? Obviously they are not lessor citizens who's beliefs are worthy of scorn. It's not okay to direct vague attacks towards a persons/people's race or religion right? Its not ok to promote violence (disrepect and attack) toward another person or people unless they are terrorists or it is roleplay, correct? I would like some clarity from a moderator or anyone. And please dont just tell me its only a joke, I know that. I do not accept that logic when someone tells a hateful racist joke or a hateful religous joke, even if told innocently and with no hate in the tone. |

It is against the rules to be disrespectful and/or atacking towards religions, beliefs, races, or cultures because members of this forum belong to them and have them. Some cultures, religions and creeds are non-violent. Given that some people here express various degrees of non-violent beliefs, would a violently worded joke towards thier beliefs be considered "generally" disrespectful? Violent humor directed at non-terrorists, how does that qualify? I can understand the ironic humor in the one blatantly obvious joke in question. My disourse is not directed at anyone else's, including the original poster's, perspective on this humor. edit: For the public: Am I the only one who sees it this way? I'm not trying to be a bummer, but that joke caught me totally of gaurd. [This message has been edited by G'kar (edited 10-24-2001).] |

I'm still waiting for more of the regulars to post their acknowledgments here. Sorry for the micromanagement, but it's been coming for a while.
