Mmm, bask in the glory of the B L U E! :D
Ahh the Forgotten Realms of IW! ;) hehe

Nice to see this again! Sure brings back memories! :D

Some of the newer members may be missing the point.

It wasn't the blue board's functionality that we enjoyed seeing again - blue is just a color at the end of the day. Most of us were happy to upgrade to the new UBB (this one) because that old one was slow and prone to unpredictable crashes.

No, it was what the blue board represented for a lot of us - it was the start of the collective consciousness and culture of Ironworks as we know it. Kind of like the feeling you get when you buy your very first car - it may be a dodgy, unreliable piece of sh!t but it will always hold a special place in your heart because it was your first car. ;)

This brown UBB is like our SECOND car - it's bigger, better, faster, and more enjoyable than the first one. But it's nice to see the first car because it brings back memories of prangs, burnouts, and nefarious activities inside it. :D

You know what the best thing for the post-blueboard members is? This brown UBB is like your FIRST car - you guys are lucky that you've got nice parents that bought you a nice, new car for your first. And years from now, when we upgrade to a white board when we have 20,000 members :D you guys will look back on the "old brown board" with pride and nostalgia. ;)

Woo-Hoo!! I found my first post ever on IW!!!
On page five, the thread about the creation of the OHF, before it was even called that, I made my first post! It is dated 09/15/00.

I cannot recall making a post previous to that, though I had lurked for a while...

I had almost forgotten what they looked like. For a while, I was even uncertain if I had posted onto the blue. It looks like I'm older than I think!

Larry's Fondest Memory of the Blueboards:

I remember, the day when Rikard made mention of the background stars on the blue board. You see, back then, it took a while for the screen to load. This is what he said, para-phrased:

While waiting for the screen to load, I like to fly my cursor through the stars like a space ship. Do you guys do that?

Thanks Dan, I always wondered what the fabled blue boards looked like.

Woa! I still think that the Brownie board of this one looks better. And I wondered too, Downunda...
