Yeah, milks supposed to be really good, also it's a good idea to drink some milk before you go drinking because it lines your stomach, and of course you don't want to drink on an empty stomach because food partially absorbs the alcohol, making you not feel so bad later.

BTW Dehydration isn't the only part of a hangover; excessive drinking lowers your blood sugar level (as well as many vitamins), so eating/drinking something sweet helps. Also, your the sodium/potassium pumps in your nerves get unbalanced, which doesn't help either. Bananas are ideal for solving both of these, however, actually eating one when you feel that rough is another matter.

If I'm really bad (ala this morning) the cure I normally use goes something along the lines of; water/squash followed by a glass of milk (helps settle my stomach). Then a couple of slices of toast with loads of honey on it, followed by more water and finally a nice cup of tea :D . This generally gets me to the 'managing a fry-up stage' (or at least a bacon sandwich) within an hour or so.

Another alternative is a Prairie oyster, which consists of a raw egg (with yoke unbroken), a dash of Worchester sauce with a sprinkling of salt and pepper. I get the feeling that if you can actually drink this, you attention is taken away from the hangover, though I've never tried it (and only know 3 people that have).

Thanks for the indepth analysis of Hangovers, I didn't know all that. However, I know that my Blood sugars don't drop that much. In fact, they tend to go up (my wife is a Type 1 Diabetic) so we test mine once in a while

You actually scared me when you started talking about prairie oysters... where I live, they are little bulls (caft s/p) balls which are fried once the bull is castrated... euk!

Well, I got my drinking days over with in college, don't do much now and rarely to the point of being falling down drunk and getting a hangover. I think it's been almost 10 yrs since I've done that. Guess you do 'grow out of it', Epona! ;) I remember orange juice and water helped. These days I don't need 'remedies' since getting 'tipsy' on anything but wine doesn't tend to give me any probmlems the next day.

I am in those days now, so I guess I have some sort of an excuse. :D

LOL Ryanamur, I can see those being an addition to the 'classic fry up', infact I get the feeling they would make things worse.

BTW another tip I've up; in general the darker the drink the worse it is for hangovers - so vodka is much better than, say whisky.

lol- your hangover can't be that bad- look at all these posts you're making!

When I read the topic title, I was hoping for some juicier content, to be honest. Could you make up some sordid details of the night before? Please?

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the topic was: RU486, the morning after pill.

Welcome to my life!

Eat some bread, drink some water, pop an asprin, then have a couple more beers. Swear to God it will help. Especially the having a couple more beers part. I know they might seem like the last thing in the world you want, but they really do help.

I'm drunk as hell right now and I'm going to be right there with you tomorrow. Hell, I can't even type now.

BTW, I thought by the topic of the post you meant you woke up next to somebody who was only attractive when wearing beer gogles. Consider yourself fortunate that's not the case. When you wake up under those circumstances AND you feel like you described it's infinately worse.

LOL, well, I'm sure that seeing one of those Farmer Prairie Oyster, let alone eat it, would cure any hangover.
