I love the falling prices!

I've actually bought a new computer for each of the past few years. After selling mine, I usually get the new one for a couple of hundred dollars.

I saw a 1.2 GIG Processor, 40Gig HD, 8X rewritable, 128 RAM HP machine for $699 at Sam's Club Warehouse. Not top of the line, but the price is good. Buying one like this every year is better for me than spending $1,800 on top of the line machine and keeping it for several years while falling behind the times. By doing this and selling my "old" computer, I keep an up to date machine for less than I could lease.

I know people who lease and are completely happy with the situation, but for me I have an unending supply of relatives and co-workers who want my old (usually less than 18months old) machines. This way I always have a current machine.

I have an HP now with 566 processor, 256 Ram (since I bought the chip mentioned above), and a 4X burner. It does everything I need, but I'm going to upgrade to more than twice this machine early next year. I'll have to pay full price ($700 or less I hope) because I won't sell this one, but instead give it to my son. Having a teenager will probably "eat" into my low buying power...lol.

BTW, I always keep my peripherals, until they need upgrading (which is not that often), so I don't spend extra buying a system with extras.

Happy Hunting!
