Hmmm the only time I am aware of here in the U.S. where a driver is prosecuted for hitting a pedestrian is if the pedestrian is in a designated crosswalk or on the sidewalk.
Streets are made for vehicles and jay-walking is a crime in this country...if you put yourself in harm's way and get harmed, it is no one's fault but your own in most cases.

Well, it is different here... the police here are corrupt... tough luck... oh well... I mean in highways or where there is a bridge for pedestrians and still they cross the road... it sux... it is obvious... but here... you will battle human rights people, their families... and it will be the drivers fault.. how pathetic...
