(ooc ~ Hello, Talthus. Hope you'll like it here at IronWorks. )

IC ~ Chiao Fung studied this stranger, slightly awed by his appearance. Who was this Talthus and where did he come from? Would he be friendly, or hostile?...

Alasdair Shadowheart 09-15-2002 01:31 AM

"It seems we are all here for the same purpose, if we are to find no lodging here I'm sure the lot of us will not have much trouble finding a proper accomodation further down road, aye?" He shrugs. "Though hopefully that will not be the case."

Alasdair looks to Talthus with an uncertain glare, as if about to say something. Upon a slight hesitation he shrugs it off, and says "Well met... Talthus." He thinks to himself "Very strange night, indeed."

Talthus 09-15-2002 01:38 AM

IC: "here for the same reason you say? You sound as if you all came here seperately by chance seeking shelter. Is that the case?" he looks to Alasdair with a puzzled look

Alasdair Shadowheart 09-15-2002 01:44 AM

"Aye, Talthus -- As odd as it may sound, I've never come across any of these adventurers before. I'm from the northernlands, as they appear to be from the east, aye?" He then looks to Talthus with a smirk. "Where are you from?"

Talthus 09-15-2002 01:52 AM

"aye, it does seem odd. I am from a place far from here, however, I find it to be none of your concern..." Talthus winces at Alasdair "...although I dislike such nosy questions from people I don't know, I seem to be becoming less entertained by the second as I'm sure you are. I actually came here from the South. Although, how I got there I am not at liberty to say...What area of the North are you from?"

Alasdair Shadowheart 09-15-2002 02:14 AM

"Your concern is your own, Talthus, and I understand that. As for your question, I am from all regions of the North -- Though I do not wish to continue that particular conversation any further. Let us just say that fate often deals a bad hand, and so here I am aye?" He kneels again with a troubled expression on his face.

"I respect your privacy, you respect mine." He pauses for a moment.

He then nods to Talthus, looking around the outer-walls of the Temple, as if he was trying to clear his mind. "A nice night it is. Could surely go for a bottle of Elverquisst, I wonder if it's served in this region?..." He's speaking slowly, still with a slight gloom expression. Its obvious that his mind is on something else, something other than Elven Wines.

"Hopefully we can get some rest soon."

Talthus 09-15-2002 02:37 AM

"aye, rest would be a welcome relief. Indeed you are also right in the fact that fate often deals a bad hand. I too, was dealt a bad hand once, and that's what made me end up in the South." Talthus walks slowly to the wall and touches the cold stone and looks up at the sky with an expressionless face.

"I welcome the cold, as it drives away those deamons who breath fire and fly into the night's sky only to fill the land with more pain. I embrace the cold at each and every chance, and it has come to shield me from those who are built of the inferno. It has been my only friend on the long treacherous walks through the forests of pain where I live. Only in the cold can there be justice for in hell there is none, and within every demon and creature of the flame, there is a small piece of hell. I was once such a creature due to my childhood, and now the cold is the only thing which can sustain me." Talthus leans agains the wall and crosses his arms

"I am but a walker of the cold seeking a cure, and what cannot be found...the past. Do not get me wrong in thinking that I need cold to survive, it's just that there is a part of me which I do not wish to reveal unless it is absolutely necessary. When the experience is over and done with, all I can think about is my past and how it led me to become this way."

Talthus closes his eyes and mumbles a curse and something about "raiders"

When Chiao Fung heard the phrase 'Fate often deals a bad hand', memories of the past began to resurface in his mind -- unhappy memories. He took his katana in his hands and silently read the poem inscribed on it -- actually a memorial composed for his beloved. And silently, he wept...

"...The past, is gone, but... not to be forgotten... Of this I know." He starts to sadden. "Yet the future is uncertain. I believe that we shall all find what we are seeking... Aye, we are often dealt a cruel and punishing hand, but..." He pauses, becoming sadder by the moment. "... I refuse to be bound by fate."

He nods his head and stares at the ground, not speaking any further.
