They can't be resurected in Icewind Dale. That is probably where you got it.

i always start my game as multiplayer so i can have a custom made cleric/whatever. that can memorize resurection, in addition to what ever npc's i have

There might be a temple in the drow city i cant rember at the moment. Should be able to resurect party there. If you are desperate importe rod of rezurection with shadow keeper even if it is cheating.

I may be gonig barmy, but I thought there was a Rod of Resurrection for sale in the Underdark (not sure though). Otherwise use the cheats to raise them or reload.
