I don't know about that Ezekial, when I defeated the Twisted Rune Gang, I used one tank with the cloak of mirroring to fight everyone but the liche. the rest of my attacker's used ranged weapons, and I (a mage) cast breach and the like, on the liche. Minsc didn't seem to mind being alone, and took out the beholder first, then the vamp, before the liche went down. Of course, everyone was Lvl8+, but then there's no good reason to go any earlier anyway.

So far, that room is holding my interest. I've lost Minsc and Aerie in there so I didn't save the game. Besides that one piece from the female ---which is a great item---- is there anything else of note? I got most of the store bought items from ad mart and only two breaches as my highest spells on Aerie. With some micro, I think I can handle it. Are there other areas like this one where you need a rogue stone? And about how many more rogue stones are in the game? Now to get back there and wipe them all out... =/ |

Kangaxx and the Celestial Fury crowd were tough for me because I took them at low levels. Also difficult were the repeated waves of Gauths, Beholders, and various nasty Undead in the Unseeing Eye quest. I lucked out on Kangaxx (My Berserker->Cleric made ONE hit with the Mace of Disruption+2), and the Celestial Fury gang took many reloads (I wonder if I can attack them, then draw them back DOWN the stairs? Hmmm......), and the lair of the Unseeing Eye was so hard because even though my Thief was Hidden in Shadows, Non-Detected, and running away as fast as he could, those damn Gauths still knew exactly where he was & followed him.
I'll also cast a vote for the beginning of the Beholder lair in the Underdark. 2 Elder Orbs right there when you walk in, and your party walks in the wrong way--Mages first. Try getting out of THERE without anyone dying. |

Geez i took the Celestrial fury crowd down, but i have high xp! Now KANGAXX is proving to be a pain in the a....! Everytime he gets into demi-lich form he kills all my party and we have almost every useful weapon in the game including Coramyr,Crom Faeyr, Celestrial fury, wave blade, and vorpal.....what should i use to kill this guy, any spell order!

Seems like it's gonna be fun. I'm lacking the levels to give pointers based on experience and we probably don't have the same party make-up, but don't let the big battle of your game so far rely on one or two scrolls as being the winning factor. Once I get there, I'ma try to see how SPELL TRAP holds up against him while my mage baits his spells. I'd use planar protection, protection from evil, fire protection, skins, draw upon holy might, haste, chant, defense, fire shield, bless, aid,DEATH WARD, chaotic commands, and then spell immunity/ spell trap. Then plant that bugger in front of the lich and see what happens. Cast fodder from wands and doom, doom, doom, pierce magic, breach, thrust, and so on....maybe even a miscast magic in his area to see how it goes. This is all stuff I'd do so don't quote me as it being viable. If I knew what spells he were landing, I could give more advice. chaotic commands and death wards are probably gonna be big helpers. If he summons a fiend, I'd definitely dispell magic him to see if that would wipe away his protection. Always worked on other liches right when they gated in the pit fiends. I know I read a thread about daystar... think someone said it was ineffective against him. I'd still try it if you hadn't already. Well, G'luck. If I wasn't bored of going to the temple district, I'd try to look for those pieces to get to Gaxx today. Is it time consuming? My only mage Aerie is still lvl 9.....so I'm working on the ployer quest now for exp(trying to get her pierce magic). Did the compound and twisted rune group earlier today/last night. So got the two good pieces and need a good boss npc to test everything out on. |
I believe demi-liches are immune to everything, but lvl 10 spells .
But i do know one lvl 3 spell i used to beat the cr*p out of him, time and time again >:) |
I would have to say that kangaxx is probably the hardest single enemy in the game, but if you use my tactic, which isnt even cheesy, he's easy:
Cast Spell Immunity to whatever class it is that imprisonment is on a mage Have that mage walk up to Kangaxx and start attacking him. Then, while he is firing useless shots at the mage, attack with the rest of your part. He has low hp, so he'll be dead in seconds. Alternatively, if you have ToB, wait in BG2 till you mage is lvl 18, then walk in and cast Dragon Breath...one crispy demilich |
If you've got the items, the Demi-Lich is easy. Just use a pro from undead scroll on your strongest fighter (preferably Korgan), cast improved haste on him, hide the rest of the party at the other side of the room, and wail away on Kangaxx with Crom Faeyer. Actually, that strategy worked good for beholders, too...using a pro from magic scroll instead of a pro from undead scroll.
Dragons are never easy, even with the MR cheese technique, but my vote for most irritatingly difficult monsters are mind flayers. Even with Mordenkainen's sword, chaotic command spells, and potions of genius, they still seem to sneak through and take out at least one party member. |
