Yeah Im using XP, and I have my game on the C Drive.

If Larry is using XP and has his game on the D drive then that could be causing his problem.

Larry_OHF 08-02-2004 02:29 PM

I do have my game saved on the D drive, but drive D is partition, as I only have one hard drive currently.

Now, I have hosted games from drive D before, with no trouble. So what you are saying is that if my game were on a second HDD, I could not host games?

Is that firewall of XP able to turn off? I have Zone Alarm, so I do not need XP firewall, right?

The Win XP firewall is Off by default and if its only a partition then you shouldn't be having the problems that you were having with the shortcut.

<took me 3 days to get registered here so I could tell you what your problem is, Larry_OHF>

The problem is in the command line. You put the quotes in the wrong place.

Your command line is:

"D:\NeverWinter Nights\nwn.exe +connect 24.173.154.114:5121"

The reason you have quotes is because you are using long file names (directory names) and you have a space in the name. The command line options should not be inside of the quotes. Change your line to this:

"D:\NeverWinter Nights\nwn.exe" +connect 24.173.154.114:5121

And it should work just fine. Note, if you're having trouble seeing the difference, the second set of quotes is immediately after the nwn.exe and all the command line stuff is outside of the quotes. Again, the only reason this is necessary is because your path has a space in the name.

I hope this helps.

Glad to hear it.

Thanks for that Wedge I was ripping my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong. Didn't even think that it was the quotes and long file names.

Welcome to Undermountin and hope to see you in the mod one day!

WELCOME TO IRONWORKS

I hope to be online tonight, actually (I'm a west coast guy). Taking my family out of town this weekend, and I may have some honey-do things to get done prior. But we shall see.

I've been a huge Undermountain fan since the boxed sets came out many years ago. When I found this PW here at Ironworks, I went out and bought both expansions (been playing around with DAoC and other such games for awhile) and reinstalled NWN.

I also enjoy mapping and module writing (PnP modules, and mapping for games such as TFC and old-school Doom), so I'm eager to get my hands dirty there, too.

My only regret is that I was seriously addicted to DAoC when NWN came out, so I chose to ignore it for the most part. I've missed out on a lot of fun. The community is looking very strong for this game.

Yeah the community is VERY strong for NWN. Make sure you download the CEP as well or you won't be able to get into Undermountain. There is a sticky post at the top of the forum with all the things you will need to get to log into Undermountain.

Feel free to give me a yell if you see me online. I'm Joric Of Ironworks.
