About the Gate Keeper thing, have you tried using the programs own fix application?

The Gatekeeper that I have installed does still function, just not with my current saved games. And I can't really see myself using it again for my current party/campaign since I'm already so strong that nothing (except maybe the last battle) will challenge me. If I "needed" some sort of item or something, I can always use CLUA, but I tend to feel the same way as SixOfSpades in that cheating will almost indefinetly ruin your gaming experience. Now cheating as a means to fix a problem or a bug in your game is not cheating in my opinion. And if you want to cheat and maybe try some 'powergaming', then make sure that you have first beaten, or almost beaten the game on your own. Just my opinion though. However, thanks for telling me about this 'fix aplication' Raistlin Majere. Can it be found on the Mudmaster site? And is it a separate aplication from that of Gatekeeper? Because I cannot even access any of my specific saved games via Gatekeeper, as soon as I click on the 'open saved game' button, it pops up an error message. |

. . . . . . . You shouldn't killer her. She shows up again at the very end with more revealing dialogue, plus you still have the choice of fighting her then if you want. |
One of the problems with Gatekeeper (at least) is that it does not handle exceptions to the normal rules. If your fighter has spells that s/he shouldn't have, then it crashes. Similarly, if you mess up adding a spell to a level where it doesn't belong - the same thing occurs.
In the end those save games are no longer valid, as far as Gatekeeper is concerned. I'm not sure if this has been fixed in the Shadow update, but you won't be able to "fix" them. As far as I know. |

When you go to 'Open Saved Game', it pops up a new window, then you highlight the corrupted game file and click the 'Repair' button. It then creates a duplicate of your selected file so that when it attempts to detect and correct the possible corrupted areas, it doesn't permenently scew it up. So anyways, it fixed my game file and the editor now works. But don't worry SixOfSpades, I'm not going to use! ;) |
Righto Sir Heinrich, thanks for the update.
I suspect that the "Repair" feature is an element of the new version. It's so long since I've used Gatekeeper, that I have an older copy and it doesn't exist on the one I have installed. Interesting though, as I've had the spell problem happen to me in IWD too, when I've started partys with characters which I've failed to change before pressing 'GO'. |
