I played it, I liked it, but I didn't finish it yet because the TOB part is not done, yet.

I don't think so. The romance added 3 new dreams, about your childhood, and teenage years with Imoen at candlekeep, and you get to choose some choices. You can also discuss them (the dreams) with Jaheira, Aerie, and Viconia. All that happen before you free Imoen.

Then, when you free Imoen, you get to talk to her about the dreams, an depending of the actions you took int he dreams, and what you tell her, you can become a couple, or just stay best friend. You also get lots of new discussion. She talk a lot more, she is going to comment on a lots of things that happen in the game. So you could take the best friend way and just use the romance for the extra discussions.
