Hell, you'd have the option of fighting the PC in Candlekeep right after they exit the catacombs, spells, hit points, and bodies exhausted. Take 'em out while they're weak! Better yet, you could ignore Gorion when you're playing Armored Figure and instead have the party focus fire on the PC. You win in five minutes. |
Wow there goes my spare time! I did'nt think BGIII was ever going to be made.
Well i guess you can't stop greatness!! I hope It will be Fully 3D!! |
Yarr. I imagine it will be in NWN style. I can't see the creators going for the whole Morrowind-esque 1st person style.

Glad to see the optimism here, but I am the only one who thinks there will never be a game that *we would call* BG3? There could be some game with that title, but I predict it will be more sucky like Dark Alliance -- more arcade, not a story-based RPG with NPC's and dialog. You heard it here first??

I'd think what I'd like to see is something which gives a bit more scope to role-playing from a good/evil angle. I've never role-played evil, because it doesn't seem to fit the story. The evil options always feel like half-assed bolt-on afterthoughts.
How about a plot along the lines of: There is a powerful source of good magic (the soul of a solar?) that has allowed a small kingdom to become very wealthy. The good queen has just been usurped and imprisoned by an evil villain. Your hero arrives and has the options: Lawful good: Gain allies to overthrow the baddy and reinstate the good queen. Win condition - become the queen's champion for life. Lawful evil: become the baddy's henchman until you are in a position to assassinate him. Win condition - make yourself ruler (the ultimate for lawful evil as I see it - everyone should obey the laws because you’re the one deciding what the law should be) Chaotic good: seize and discharge the source of magic so that a blessing is bestowed on everyone within 10 mile radius (healed, plus 1 on all stats, shift in alignment to good etc.). Win condition - go down in history as a saint Chaotic evil: seize and discharge the source of magic so as to gain all the benefit for yourself. Win condition - turn yourself into a demigod. True neutral: free the queen but leave the king in control. Send the solar's soul back to where it came from, because something that good can't exist in the world without tipping people around it towards evil - e.g. greed. Win condition - gain the reputation for being incredibly just and wise. Having five totally different outcomes would also lend itself to replaying with different classes. |
i agree with hank. a new take on the baldur's gate series as we know it in all its glory would be difficult to pull off.
my guess is baldur's gate III will end up like DA.....or even IWD (though that wouldnt be so bad) and have little to no story to it. |
I don't think that BG3 would ever be the same as BG2...I actually prefer the graphics in BG2 over NWN. I have no idea why...oh well, there is still a ray of hope anyway.
