So, what happens with the Xzar character? I went to the second floor of Sorcerous Sundries and the mage up there told me that Xzar has been sending him reports on me. Xzar is my hero! He's screwing my character in so many ways.

Does this part of the story line go anywhere, or was it just to show that he's truly a baddy?

For my good party I took Kahlid/Jaheria and for my evil part I took Mont/Xzar. BTW, if you are a paladin (ie a character with high charisma) the two pairs never fight, only argue.

Nah, it is nothing to worry about. Those mages and Xzar belong to the same order, so they will not attack you if he is in the party. You will learn what Xzar has been up to from that dialogue. That is a pretty good fight with those mages as I recall...

I think it was because Xzar is a Zhentarim agent and he was reporting to them on you.

Methinks that Xzar is the best NPC ever. It's the worst pity that he wasn't taken into BG2. He has a strong personality and can be pretty useful. And Jaheira and Khalid are two of the most irritating and annoying chars in BG2. Khalid is good, true, but Shar-Teel is better. Pity, that it' s so complicated being evil in BG1.

I've seen several comments about wanting to have NPCs in your party but they are of the wrong alignment, it's certainly something that I've encounted. Now if only it were possible to get the Helm of Opposite Alignment (or whatever its called - haven't found it yet) this would be really cool. Instead we get that joke item the Girdle of Male/Female swopping, which is so silly I can remember it's name.
So all you Xzar fans this is what you need. By the way is the Helm available for use in BG2?

I gave that to Imoen in the hopes that she'd be more fun, but she still had a female voice and such. What a rip off.

I like Xzar the way he is. It is a real shame he's not in BG2...

Oops - sorry I forgot a Mage can't use a Helm, but there are still some interesting combinations, if only we were allowed to have it early in the game.

I dont think montaron is much of a fighter, he is a great thief though. I used him to hide in shadows and backstab all the bandits in bandit camp while we were allys. Xzar is awesome! Hes kinda funny 2. Hes a great mage as soon as he ws lvl 4,for me.
