If you're playing in a party, without the need to put in a few points in melee weapons for the odd time the frontline collapses, you might as well. I mean, after reaching Grand Mastery in Short Bows, and Proficiency in Long Bows, you might as well get Proficiency in Crossbows as well. IMO, it would be a matter of preference; Grand Mastery in Short and Longbows, or Grand Mastery in Short Bows, and Proficiency in Cross and Longbows. I would go for the latter, because I would prefer to use Shortbows all of the time, and the Crossbow Proficiency is mainly for the Demogorgon.

Oh and put some in single weapon style becuase IIRC it adds a chance for a roll of Critical Hit.

I'm using Single Weapon and Short Sword for the Short Sword of Mask. Entangle, run away, shoot them a few times, entangle again, etc. Only if they get in melee range, but it's still a good combo, isn't it?

I don't know. I'm assuming you're solo'ing, right? If you are, then it could be useful. I'd prefer Celestial Fury if you absolutely must do it that way, but I'd use summons a lot more. I mean, with 3 Elementals and 1 Spider and 1 Moon Dog figurine, you're not going to be in melee all that often. (Damn those Death Spells)

Well, then its a matter of preference. You really don't need the SSoM if you have frontliners. Just shoot away.

Gonna weigh in, a little late, but nonetheless.

I use the <font color="white">ToB crossbow</font color> for one reason: mages with stoneskin. Very handy for them. My solo archer uses the <font color="white">big ToB shortbow</font color> and <font color="white">big ToB crossbow</font color> w/ bolts of lightning. Why? A ton of damage. I find it's usually better to use more powerful ammo with things that have unlimited, simply to combine abilities. Anyway, I love the <font color="white">ToB crossbow</font color>, if only for the elemental damage to bypass Stoneskin. [img]smile.gif[/img]
