Some of the things in the ease of use mod are cheats.

Keeping Drizzt's loot
</font>[/QUOTE]Don't see what's so bad about that though. They allowed you to keep the loot in BG1, and lord knows the relative power of his equipment was far greater back then than it is in BG2, where they are average weapons at best.

Though killing Drizzt was a bit more of a challenge in BG1 I'll have to say, probably the single most difficult encounter in the entire series, not counting cheesy and semi-cheating methods to kill him.

I always use that EoU "cheat"...
I find it annoying that I can't use any of the rings I find otherwise... :(

Do you mean "annoying" as in, "It's so annoying that my Thief can't cast Wizard spells while wearing Full Plate, all without breaking Stealth?"

Some rules were meant to be broken, yes--but some others are meant to stay just as they are. I have no problems whatsoever with disabling Malchor Harpell, but Magic Armor conflicting with Magic Rings/Cloaks/Amulets is just one of the classic rules of D&D. Diablo is a perfectly good game, but don't try to make BG follow Diablo rules.

("Oh, hey--you want me to make you Diamond Ring of the Zodiac? Is great recipie! Gives +60% Magic Resistance and +20 to all of your abilities! Oh wait--is Diablo item. Tee hee, silly Cespenar.")

Hmm... if I remember correctly the item upgrade mod allows you to meld Keldorn's Firecam Full-Plate Armor with the Armour of the Hart.

AC -2...

Gauntlets of dexterity... AC -6

Ring of Gaxx... AC -8

Helm of Balduran... AC -9

Cloak of the Sewers... AC -10

If we have disabled Malchor Harpell (and rightly so) wielding Twinkle will knock another 2 off your AC... AC -12

Fancy a shield... hmm... Sentinel +4 springs to mind will knock off another 5...

Sooooooo... thats Keldorn with a nice health -17 AC.

I'm not suggesting thats the maximum AC you could get with him, but its not too bad for a rainy day. He'll be fine with twinkle as his +5 weapon. If you get sword and shield weapon proficiencies, you can knock another two off the AC... so possibly -19...

A more... convincing application of the Disable Malchor Harpell Mod would be for you to fight Malchor Harpell for the items, instead of just outright pushing him out of the picture.

Dace De'Briago 05-08-2003 06:26 AM

But he cheats and simply imprisons all of my party.

But of course, you are going to tell me how to get around this? :D

(That was a hint :D , spoil me)

Dundee Slaytern 05-08-2003 07:16 AM

Nononono, you misunderstand me. What I meant was that you improved the fight so that after you defeat him, you get to keep the equipment. Much more realistic.

Dace De'Briago 05-08-2003 09:54 AM

*nods*

That would be fun. He is a git.

Does timestop and shapechange work against him?

Dundee Slaytern 05-08-2003 09:58 AM

Yes, but he just keeps on spawning.

That's just against missile weapons.
