Thanks a lot, Budzo! I look forward to playing your design.

I'm desperately trying to get a complete copy of Budzo's design but it seems I run into the same troubles you other guys had with downloading mine...

I can download it here in four stages but the interruptions during the download appear to cause corruption in the files.

Right now I'm missing working copies of:
- caliport-bookcase_01.bmp
- grey-stone-wall-gate dc mod back test.png
- wa_Wall2.png

And I'm not even sure that's all I'm missing since manikus' download of my own design was incomplete, too, without him noticing...

:(

I had the same issues, plus the file "agenda 1.png"

Hi,

I am sorry you are having problems. I am new at this uploading stuff so I am not sure I can provide any technical assistance. Attached is a folder with the three files you are looking for.

As an aside I have downloaded and played through to completition both of the designs by Olivier and Dinonykos. I guess if there were any missing files I didn't notice. I would prefer not to comment too much on them in public except to say I like both of them very much. They are very different which is a strong testament to the versatility of this software. As soon as someone tells us how to do it, I will make a few comments.

Finally I have finished one of the tutorials and have started #2. Should be done in a couple of days. Again with some guidance on where to put it, I will be happy to do so,

See my above post for the one additional missing file I had.

As for this archive issue, Budzo; you and Olivier did nothing wrong. It's an issue with the size cap for attachments that Ziroc has in place.

I haven't played anything yet, as I am still madly working on mine. :D I have all the necessary art done for the first level and all the necessary events in place. I would still like to do some additional overlays to add some visual variety to the place, and I still would like to add some events to help spice the place up. :)
But, that's just for the main level. For the mod to be playable instead of just a demo, I need to complete at least two of the four remaining... At least they are already designed and I have much of the art I need, but none of the events yet (except for transfer module)

As for the tuturoials, I think we should do with them as we have with the designs - either post them in the Yahoo group, or as attachments here or on your own site if you have one. :D:D:D

Re: Fall 2009 Design Contest

I'll check out Budzo's design tomorrow. I have just played through Olivier's and liked it very much.

Ah yes: Manikus and I have just discussed how the reviews may be handled in the Frua forum. I more or less copy/paste from there:

We should give marks for all the areas (e.g. from 1 for unsatisfying to 10 for excellent). Thus, every review should include something like:
"Story: 7; Events and Riddles: 6; Graphics: 0; Presentation: 6; Gameplay: 8; Tutorial: 2"
Additionally, a text should explain why these marks were given. We do not need a special form for this text, as long as it covers all aspects. As long as everybody makes a kind of review she/he would like to receive for his own design, it should be okay...

To cite Manikus, the scale will be from "0 to 10 with 0 being something like 'forgot to add it' and 10 being 'It was so amazing I wept'".

Thus, in my example, "Graphics: 0" would mean the designer did not use self-made graphics, while "Presentation: 6" means that the designer did quite a good job with combining others' graphics with (perhaps) sound and level design...

I am looking forward to playing all the entries, but am feeling the pressure while trying to finish up something. I fear it will not be that good to play...it has been fun to make though. :)

Jippie! Nice to read that it's not only possible for me to play through it! :D

I have also finished my tutorial. I hope I can upload it to XThost together with the design tomorrow...

I would like to point out that mine is a demo of a larger module. The reason I did this is the larger module has serious play balance issues in its current form. It is way way too hard and complicated and fixing it is going to take some time. For all sorts of reasons I wanted to participate in this so tried to come up with a demo that at least would let me write the tutorials and do a couple of other things.

Also attached is tutorial #1.

Point well taken about the demo. :)

I've downloaded the tutorial, Budzo. I will upload it to the Yahoo group when I get a chance.
