This is an interesting situation with the good guys vs. the bad.
We have Silt, Vincent and Marcos who are at full health and have only begun to fight. We have Kendel and Plaxica who are wounded, but hanging in there heroically. We have Kynnel who has no armor and has lost an ear. We have Andrion who has nearly exausted half of his spell book, with only a wounded drow to cover for him while he casts spells. But the drow is not covering him at the moment, so Andrion is vulnerable to the attacks of 3 melee fighting tough guys. Honestly, I don't see a future for Kynnel and Andrion unless something major upsets the turn of this battle. Anyone putting money on the fight can guess that Andrion and Kynnel are getting tired where the other guys have not even got started! What will happen??????????? Will we be losing a PC in this battle? |
Even if the other characters see Plaxica attacking an unseen enemy they shall be distracted by the visible Mirror Images and have less chance to hit, no?

erm... all is well and good except... KynneN!

Well, I was planning on attacking Andrion. I'm just waiting to get my weapons sorted.

We've had unstable internet behavior out this way the last couple days and so posting has been a fairly undcertain process -- I've had a couple server timne outs just getting this brief note up. The issue seems to be out this way with our service provider as the behavior is not limited to IW.
Hopefully I'll be able to get a post up for TAO later tonight assuming things settle down. |
I would actually have that work as per normal (2nd ed) firing into melee rules (# of targets in area) decide out of the number of targets who gets hit, roll to hit, deal damage appropriately not this makes plaxica a potential target as well as the invisible mage. (I think Kynnel and the guard are far enough away from various descriptions that they aren't in immediate danger of being shot accidentally)

Technically, Marcos was also bringing some other guards along. I'm going to regret this later, but we'll assume they moved ahead to the dining room just to make sure the were tigress wasn't slipping past while the rest of the fighting was going on.

You should have kept your men by your side, Marcos. Now their blood shall be upon your hands!
|
Are you then so blinded by your lust for blood that you take no more account of your surroundings? Do you hold so little regard for those who oppose you, that you believe they fail to plan as you do? There is no worse place for your minion to do battle, Mage, as you will learn to your dismay.

Just for reference...here is the established rule set down by Cyril a while back in a previous chapter of LoF. This is to serve as reminder and renewal.
* Critical Hits: This game does not make use of critical hit tables, nor are massive criticals allowed. A roll of a ‘natural 20’ to hit will automatically result in a critical hit and a critical hit will do maximum damage +3 to the target. Weapons or abilities that might allow a critical hit on something other than a natural 20 are possible in the game but need to be negotiated with the DM. |
