I was looking for hints and help with Wizards & Warriors. I used Copernic to search the web for the game name and found Ironworks...the only place I ever needed to go for help. The people on the forum are so friendly and helpful that to have searched further would have landed me in what I later learned was referred to as W&W Hell.

Memnoch,

I was not even aware of this or the GD forum until Saz mentioned GD in a W&W Forum thread...I would bet I am not the only one who came to Ironworks for help and never left the forum for the game I was playing!

I brought W&W PC game, played it for a while and got stuck.
So I searched for information based on this game and found Ironworks site.
It went from there

I first found my way here when I was playing Bg1. It was near the end of it's run and i was looking for prtraits. Found my way to the Ironworks. Checked out the forum a bit but was never really keen on forums. Later came back with Bg2 and went into the forum for general tactics. Was impressed by how friendly everyone was. Then saw a question I could actually answer and dived right in. Hung around ever since. Still drop in every day though I don't seem to post much any more.

I'd finished BG2 once, and wanted to see how much I'd missed out on, and find out a good class to play my second game. I just type in Baldurs Gate 2 in google, went to a few sites, and found this was one of the best. I came back a few times, noticed there was a message board, which I started reading - then eventually joined.

I was on Heuristic Park's website and noticed volberding.com mentioned as a good place for Wizards & Warriors walkthroughs. There are links to Ironworks on his pages, and I have been hooked ever since. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I had a stupid question, and looked around on several differant forums, saw too much piss'n and mown'n. Then I came across the Ironworks forum, and saw that my question would be answered not flamed. So, I joined up on the old board under my characters name (it had a spot for user name & a spot for logon name)
Like a dummy when I regisitered for the new board I didn't notice that there was only one spot for name. Three guesses as to which one I used http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Memnoch, you already know my story....

There I was, posting at the BGDungeon Tavern... having a good time, dodging the flame wars that were occuring... then, one morning, I awake, log-on, and post a book review. Drink my coffee, drive to work. log on at the office, and I see a message saying that the forum is closed.

ah well...
I type "Baldur's Gate II" into my Google bar, and get a TON of links. I recognized this name, from several good reviews in the discussion groups in Usenet. (I don't read the newsgroups at work, only here. I need to get SOME work done) i puch the link, and lurk for a couple of hours.

I register, and post.

Then, our own "Times of Troubles" show up, and, boy, did I miss this place. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/crying.gif

During the two week hiatus, I visited a few other forums...

FOLKS, let me tell you...

I have played role playing games since Ultima 4 was on the Amiga! Actually, I played adventure games before that on the electron!! I only found the Ironwork site because my hard drive gave up just after Christmas and I wanted help with BGII and used a search engine to find help. The Ironworks was the best by far.

Well, I love BG1 and 2, so I stumbled across this site while looking for info on those two awesome games!

Davros 05-02-2001 10:23 AM

I was thinking of buying W&W, it hadn't been released in Australia at the time, did a search and found the Ironworks site, and from there to the forum - simple isn't it http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Last Autumn, I was searching for portraits and found this site, amongst others. I checked the various parts and I saw the forum. I posted a few times and Armisael and Memnoch were really helpful. I only truly felt part of the community when I was able to help others. I visited other forums, even those of other games, but this is the best. You people all make it that way! Thanks to you all!

I found Ironworks back last July or August (if I remember correctly) while searching for some hints on BGI then I forgot about it. I remembered in again at the end of October after I got BG2. I, too, luked for about two months until January. One of my first post was to Moiriane about her accident. Love her to death!!! She along with Amisael and Mennoch were the most helpful people on the board. Always helping newbies like me back then. Ever since, I've been hooked!!!
I don't post a great deal, but I come here almost every day.

I was stuck in BGII and did a Search for 'BGII hints and tips'. This was the best site I checked out http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Hey, Sir Talisien, why did you change your logo and ditch the picci? I liked it that way!

Whats a Picci? I just had part of a quote from Stephen Lawhead's book Taliesin.
I saw this one on a bumper sticker the other day and found it quite humerous!
Cloudy has sent me some dragon pictures, one of which I hope to put on my sig.

I was looking for a map of an Icewind Dale level and my search engine (alltheweb.com) waved Ironworks under my schnozz. After beating the game, I opened up the forum to have a look

Floraowe 05-11-2001 08:31 PM

After I finished BG2 for the first time, I wanted to find out if I'd missed anything, so I had a look for walkthroughs. Of course I missed a whole bundle of stuff, and Ironworks has a good walkthrough. I'm staying put now because re-hashing great games is something I really like to do http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

When I first bought BG1 I asked a friend at work that I knew played CRPG games and he told me the best on around was Ironworks. So after work I hopped on the Net to check it out and he was right it is the Best Site around.
