Hey! I resemble that remark!!

Cloudbringer 02-22-2005 12:56 PM

Howdy Skippy! Life's pretty good, but I'm trying to kick a headcold to the curb and it's hanging on a little too hard right now. Hubby's at work and I'm taking turns napping and surfing the net.

Wyvern zapped an ipod post in W&W and I got two (GD and Roleplay) so it's only a matter of time before the latest spammer hits the road. Why do they do this sort of thing? I mean how much 'fun' can it be to keep posting junk and being banned?

Violet 02-22-2005 01:59 PM

Aloha and Mahalo Everyone!

It's good to be back on big land again LOL.
Great time away from the world though and an even better time with just Steve and me for so long.

I am an official Golf Widow this morning as are most of the women in the neighborhood. Not a year I really care to have the PGA Tour in town but then remembering in years past what a relief it can be I'll not complain. ;)

Cloudy I hope you are feeling better soon!
ladyzekke, congratulations on your win! I am wondering if I should spend this afternoon going out shopping for some new/used games. Rain supposed to hit tonight and last until Thursday.
I was just thinking that with Steve gone all day I'd have time to play but rain and golf don't mix *doh!*.

*sigh* Well maybe I can lock him in his office with his putter for a while.

EDIT: Thought I'd play in Gwen's graphics stuff and change my sig. What do you all think?

Ladyzekke 02-22-2005 02:09 PM

Welcome back Violet! Sounds like you went to Hawaii, hope yall had a nice time

Yeah I think I'm gonna move onto my next unfinished SP game now, Sacred. Thing is it's been so long I don't know where I've gone and where I haven't, so I see a lot of wandering around confused ahead of me LOL.

Dron_Cah 02-22-2005 02:19 PM

Hey, all! Welcome back, Violet! I like your sig.
No English, today. :D
So, here I am, chilling at IW, when I'm normally at class. YAY!! I finally installed KOTOR, as well. Double YAY!!!
Sadly, though, that's good stuff stops. I have three tests, on thursday, and I haven't studied a bit, for any of them. :( Oops! Well, I better get back to wasting time! :D

Violet 02-22-2005 02:19 PM

LOL I know what you mean when you go back into games ladyzekke. :D

Yeah, Steve took me to Ohau to celebrate our official 25 years together (we were engaged on Valentine's day 25 years ago). He had this planned out last year - got a deal with a business partner for a "house on the beach" on the North Shore. It wasn't literally "on the beach" either but across the road from the beach - stuck in some plot of crazy jungle greeenery and "hut" would have been a better term for the place! I mean the only reason it could out-do those on Gilligan's Island is because it had floors, electricity and a fridge LOL but it was really great. Beautiful place for sure! I won't deny, it's good to be back though.

Thanks Dron Cah! I am glad you like it! Now go study! Good luck on the exams!

Attalus 02-22-2005 02:40 PM

Yeah, I used to go to Hawaii, back when I could afford it. Glad that you had a good time, Violet.

Violet 02-22-2005 02:46 PM

No kidding Attalus! Prices there are outrageous!
I'd like to go back for another vacation (years from now lol) and do all the touristy stuff we missed out on. It's a beautiful place and I am sure that on a vacation type agenda we would be in a hotel LOL! No foot long centipedes outside the front door or 8 inch long praying mantis'!

wellard 02-22-2005 08:19 PM

Hey Skip what's doing? How is Shrewsbury in winter (bbrrrrr) Planning a trip back down to Campbelltown soon?

Bungleau! How did your new drum kit go? given it a good beating yet?

Ladyzekke 02-22-2005 09:04 PM

Evening all, am watching American Idol. Some chick named Aloha LOL just sang, and was a bit skankay with the dancing, and her body and dress didn't really go with said skankay moves. LOL, I love this show!

It's a mixed bunch... some of them are near burnt, while others are only half done. Not quite sure how I managed that...

Violet 02-22-2005 10:03 PM

Well I am out for the night - early day tomorrow - the usual (blah blah blah lol).

ladyzekke, I hope you got some good belly laughs watching American Idol LOL!

Cloudbringer, hope you kicked that cold to the curb like you were trying to!

Sir Goulum,
Cookies get easier every time you make them (and better too lol). I have been burning the last batch for decades though.

Bungleau 02-22-2005 11:40 PM

Violet - a pleasure to have you back. Sounds like Hawai'i was good for you

Wellard - the new kit arrived with a couple of broken pieces (mounts, really), so for a week I was playing a four-piece set. The replacements arrived, and I'm now playing a full five-piece set (and of course, now want more :D ). I put on the first album I really started playing drums to years ago... Moving Pictures by Rush (side one, to be specific), just to go through the process again.

Well, I've lost a step or two off my speed in the past 15 or so years... Tom Sawyer is just a *hair* too fast for me, but I'll get it back to speed soon :D

Every night I'm home, I usually play for a bit before going to bed. It's great... I can jam to my favorite songs from all time, and no one else in the house (or the neighborhood) is any the wiser :D

And in a couple of weeks, they'll get a full showing. Our church band (contemporary Christian in nature) has been asked to play at another local church to give them an idea of what music can do to enhance worship. Should be interesting :D

Aside from that, it's been a long (and complete) couple of days. My wife's back from Oklahoma, my father-in-law is out of the hospital for his heart attack, and I spent today training and prepping a guy who's going to do a bunch of software development for me over the next several weeks. Life is grand... :D

Mate!! It's brass monkey weather over here at the moment. Ain't planning on a visit until the exchange rate sorts itself out. Last year we could have gotten about $2.60 to the £ it's about $2.27 at the moment which is rubbish. The economy over there must be booming!

Ivelliis 02-23-2005 12:11 PM

Hey all, I've got a lot to do tonight. Biology Homework (Essay on how Humans have influenced the world), some pixel art for a new online game/chatroom for a mate of mine, and I also want to get on WoW to train my hunter.

The snow is very annoying. It starts when I go out, and stops when I come in >=(

SomeGuy 02-23-2005 12:41 PM

Hey Bungleau, what was your wife doing in Oklahoma? Any particular area she visited?

Hey guys. My last two periods were horrible, HORRIBLE I SAY. Today we did writing tests. God it was horrible. They gave us a prompt and we HAD to use it. HAD to. Oh God no. "Everyone has a memorable teacher. Who was your most memorable teacher and why?" I hated it. The kid behind me got done real quick (I know someone who's getting a bad grade) and fell asleep. HE SNORED THE ENTIRE TIME!!! *grumble* I hope I did okay. I hope the rest of the school day goes well. *goes back to working on speech*

Jorath Calar 02-23-2005 01:27 PM

Hiho,, Zekke you got me hooked on DS... I saw it this morning in my local compstore and got... almost free, been playing all day and hell, it's good, although a little samey. but heck it's the next best thing to KOTOR 2 since that one isn't working on my pc right now...

philip 02-23-2005 01:30 PM

Bungleau do you use anything to make less sound when you drum at home? Can't imagine nobody in your neighboorhood likes you to go drumming before you go to bed I really like drums maybe if I ever have money and a place to play I'll do that too. For now I'm starting keyboards and piano again. I like the piano better at the moment since it's a lot louder :D On the other hand it's a good idea to learn how to play stuff on my keyboard and then play it lous on the piano :D

Ladyzekke 02-23-2005 01:42 PM

You do go through some big areas with a lot of the same Jorath, but eventually you get out of it, then move on to new stuff, which goes on and on LOL. There are TONS of monsters though, it just takes time to get to them.

Glad you are having fun with it nevertheless, and got it for a cheap price too! Wait until you get to Goblin City LOL, very fun and challenging area, and the Boss is very tough but has a cool animation when it dies.

Cloudbringer 02-23-2005 01:50 PM

Sir G, you could always buy cookies from the girl scouts... :D *teehee*

Welcome back to the mainlyand, Violet! I keep thinking I should make a pilgrimage to Hawaii sometime but never seem to have time or money and both together? Rare! LOL!

Skippy, you got out the snowshoes yet? HEHE! Saw your post about snow up in your area. Must be the week for snow, we got a fair amount this week but a light dusting yesterday. Looks pretty til you slip on it in the driveway. And my other half grumbles about removing it from the driveway! LOL :D

SomeGuy, just poke the snoring kid a few times to wake him up! :D

Bungleau, I want to know how you keep the neighbors from rioting when you play drums, too! A friend of mine is a drummer (in his spare time he's in a band that does gigs at local fairs and some bars up where they live) and of course it's easier to transport the other instruments so guess who's house they jam in? Yup, his and it drives his wife nuts.

Kaltia 02-23-2005 05:07 PM

*Pops in, dusts off couch and procedes to spam*

I just got an offer from Kent University, to study English and American Literature! *squee*

Aragorn1 02-23-2005 05:12 PM

I'm planning to buy them out. ;) I swear, one could live off those things.

Cloudbringer 02-23-2005 09:25 PM

Heya Kaltia! Long time no see! Congrats on the university offer, are you going to attend?

Congrats to you too, Aragorn!

:D I hear you, Sir G! Love those things but I know it's not good to snarf a whole box at one time...sigh.. :D

Any plans on offering them here at the cafe? ;)

Heya, Kaltia! *waves*

Dron_Cah 02-23-2005 09:37 PM

Hey, all. So far, I've studied for my chem test tomorrow, but I still need to study for the precalc (doubtful) and Bio tests. Precalc should be a breeze, but I don't care much for Bio, so I should study for it. So, of course, I'm wasting time, right now. :D I think I'll do BIO, next, and save whatever not-sleep time I have left for a little precalc. Maybe more chem. Dunno, yet. Here's to hoping I don't fail all three tests, tomorrow!

Bungleau 02-23-2005 09:52 PM

My wife was down in Tulsa, SomeGuy. My father-in-law (aka her dad) suffered a minor heart attack on Saturday, and she went down to be with her parents for a couple of days and hear what the doctors said. He's out now, and contemplating whether or not he's going to change his lifestyle all that much. I hope he does... 73 is a little young to pass on, in my book.

As for the drums, they're electronic... so I hear 'em in my headphones :D My first set, and I already know what I'll do differently with the next set, but they're a tremendous lot of fun. One day, when I've got a place with more land and I can set up a proper musical room, I'll get back to an acoustic set, but until then, I jam away with bits and bytes. :D

And they're a great way to relieve stress, too... which I shall have in the morning :( Got to have a conference call with one of our consultants who's doing some work for one of my customers. He just doesn't get the vision of what needs to take place... and when he talks to me about it, he doesn't listen to me.... If I didn't really like this customer, I might become "unavailable" tomorrow...

Well, I'm installing some new software on my work computer right now, and getting ready to move me and my heating pad (sore neck) over to another computer for a little BG to finish the night up.

Ilander 02-24-2005 01:50 AM

No snow shoes yet, but it might be a good idea soon if this stuff doesn't give over. Been snowing since I got up this morning and doesn't look like stopping. Nice though. I love snow. Still haven't got my car back yet, so doing some walking in it. Most excellent!! :)

Callum 02-24-2005 08:40 AM

Yay! No homework and nothing to do tonight!

Following up from last night where I had loads of homework and everything to do round the house... getting in from school only at 7, after a menotring session, drum lessons, and a japanese lesson. Then having to try to fix the two family computers.

(Anyone know why it won't realise that there is a CD-ROM drive attached? I can't figure it out... Tried reattaching the cable and everything...)

And also help my Dad prepare a slide show on GIlbert and Sullivan. And then homework for four subjects due today.

Crashed at 2 am after finsihing a sum total of one of those tasks (my Dad's thing). The rest are all still in a state of half-completion.

This was not helped by the fact that I realised I no longer have microsoft word on this computer. I was trying to type out the work in notepad, draw diagrams in paint, and then transfer them to my Dad's laptop to place in Word. (as I can't use laptop keyboards or touch pads ).

I plan to be in bed in 5 minutes, at 9 30 :D

This is Callum Kerr, signing off from Malaysia

Have you installed any new hardrives? If you use that same ribbon to attach, say, a DVD-ROM, then you need to slave one of them. That's what I had to do, recently.
My three tests loom very close, and I'm not sure I'm ready. Pray for me, I need it!!

Bungleau 02-24-2005 09:22 AM

First thing I'd check, Callum, is to see if the OS recognizes the CD-ROM. You can see that at boot time; if it doesn't stay around long enough to read, you'll have to do the delete/F1 thing to get into the BIOS. That will show you all the devices.

You do need to make sure that multiple devices on one IDE ribbon have a slave and a master. If you don't... well, I'd expect neither device to work, but I'm not sure.

You also need to make sure it's properly connected. That includes pulling and reseating *both* ends of the ribbon cable, as well as pulling and reseating the power cable. Remember that the red stripe goes next to power... ;)

If that doesn't work, then tell us what you did in between when it worked and when it didn't... :D

And Dron_Cah, good luck on those tests!

*edit* poert? what the heck was I drinking? That should have been power...

Yeah, Drew, good luck!

I guess there's no point in offering assistance w/ the drive...I only know what Bungleau and Dron already said.

Hey, all...just dropping by to say "Physics is Phun" and then leaving.

Xen 02-24-2005 01:15 PM

Hello IW!
I was away for the last six days. Why? Some nasty virus I caught, chained me to my bed, teas and pills. I had a very high fever ever day, from 37 to 40 degrees. I also couldn't sleep becuase I was coffing all the time.
It's good to be back.

Ivelliis 02-24-2005 01:23 PM

Glad your better Xen

It's Boro v Grazer AK (Austrian) tonight, the second leg. It is 2-2 on aggregate, so if we draw 1-1 or 0-0 we are through because of our 2 away goals.
The weather is freezing, wet, and maybe a bit snowy...should be fun :D .

Attalus 02-24-2005 01:38 PM

Afternoon, all. I have just gotten a new module for NWN, "Kiss of Fate." It's great, thus far. It has the only hot female henchwoman that I have ever discovered that I want to throttle.

Cloudbringer 02-24-2005 04:21 PM

Hope you feel better now, Xen. I've been fighting a cold/virus for a week+ so I can sympathize!

LOL, that bad, Atty? Maybe it adds dimension to the mod?! :D

Ilander 02-24-2005 04:42 PM

Xen, welcome back...sick season stinks, quite a bit.

What sport are you talking about, Ivellis?
