And in finality I find peace
And end is end to woes
And moonlit sky darkens
And life turns to throes
And time stagnates on
Without a single pause

I'm still hoping my parents will get another dog soon. We had one when I was very little, and we had to put it down (not only was it epileptic [sp?], but it grew frightened, mean and confused because of the disease), and later on we had a dog which I loved very much. Simba (no she wasn't named after the Simba from the Lion King, we just wanted a Swahili name for our new dog) got hit by a car July 5th 4 years ago. :(

Wow, are they expensive?

Xen 07-28-2004 08:33 AM

Sorry to hear that Link. :( Expensive? They aren`t the most expensive or the most cheap dog. Golden middle I think.

You can't help it. It's just that after a while you get attached to your pet and it hurts a hell of a lot when you have to say goodbye to it. When it happens unexpectadly it makes it even worse, because you didn't realise it would be the last time you'd see him or her.

Stormymystic 07-28-2004 08:42 AM

yeah link, I know what you mean, we had a dog a couple of years ago..well my mom did anyway, and she got into some antifreeze and they put her down on christmas day. :( I cried as bad as my mom did because we had worked so hard to keep her alive (she had a stricture[sp?] in her belly that almost killed her) that it was hard to deal with :(

That`s right. I also had a friend who lost his dog out of a blue. It pretty stuck him.

I feel sorry for you Stormy. In the end I'm just glad that she died after all; the vet said that if she had survived the accident she would have suffered severe brain damage. Nevertheless, it was one of the few moments in my life where I cried.

Hivetyrant 07-28-2004 08:51 AM

Thats quite a sad story Stormy, im sorry to hear it.
I suppose that im lucky that ive never had to put down a pet, the last three dogs that our family have had have gone off to become Police dogs when we couldnt keep them, but now we have settled down and have a Labrador named Ellie.

Link 07-28-2004 09:00 AM

Police dogs? Wow! That sounds cool!

Xen 07-28-2004 09:01 AM

I`ve heard that Labarador`s are the most "hungry" dogs and that they will eat anything. Is this true?

Well, a dog will eat anything that smells tasty to them. They even eat grass when they're sick (makes them throw up)

WillowIX 07-28-2004 09:15 AM

Hi ladies and gents. Just stopping by to say, well ermm, hi. So where've I been. Well not that you really care but I've been on 6 weeks vacation! Yay! And now? I'm currently in Bethesda, MD, way down south, sitting at NIH and having some "fun" in the clinical center. ;) I'll be going back home in a couple of days bringing some doctors from here to visit our facilities (which of course are much better ;) ). So see you in a couple of days. I jus tmight stop by again on some other breaks. Hugs to you all.

Well, lets jusy say, we dont leave anything we really care about in the back yard...
Whenever I go outside, she has some sort of object in her nmouth ready to run away from me so I will play with her, though, the objects are usually something important like part of a wshing basket or a golf ball.

Ours is pretty hungry, but he's only 7 months old. I don't think any one breed is hungrier than the next; it all depends on size, growing stage, and activity level.

Hmm, welll since we're on the topic, I had a boxer about 8 years ago (she was mine...we always have boxers here ). My dad gave her some wormer unaware that it was only for horses...she was fine for a few hours, then she started having seizures. They took her to the vet *after* that (as soon as my dad had given her the wormer I said "Isn't that for horses only?" And my dad said "oops"...big help!) and got her stomach pumped, but obviously it had already gotten into the rest of her system. They put her down...she was only about 3 years old :(

Xen 07-28-2004 03:47 PM

Good evning. I`m watching the news and eating some . :D

That's awful, Jen. :( When I was 11, my poor cocker got run over and I cried like a baby. Great dog.

Black Knight 07-28-2004 07:44 PM

Hiya - just stopping in...haven't been here in forever, but I have a few minutes at work, so ...I thought I would stop in and say hi with my usual run on sentences....so..um...hi!

Stormymystic 07-28-2004 10:01 PM

AWWWW ladyblue :( that is so sad for those who feel bad for me, it is ok, it was a few years ago, and we are fine now. we once had this dog that was a german shpeard/chow/lab mix, she was very beautiful. she was black with silver markings, and a purple tounge. she was about 6 years old, and she got distemper :( we fought to save her, but in the end she went into a coma and we had to put her down, she was my best friend, and I cried for days afterwards. :(

Lady Blue03 07-29-2004 12:26 AM

It was pretty devastating to me at the time...I loved that dog! Years later now I have two great dogs (out of the 7 that we own-all boxers!), Brandy and her son Chronos. They're so sweet and hyperactive, just like me :D

Lady Blue03 07-30-2004 12:27 AM

Me?? Spam?? Not anymore :D

Am listening to Kerry dribble on about the economy *sigh* Democrats

Jorath Calar 07-30-2004 03:48 AM

Ugh... good morning.

Damn, I came home from work at 00:30 last night, everyone was asleep in the house, I looked at IW a bit and then fell asleep in all my clothes and even though I don't have to go to work until 16 I was woken because they thought I had to go at 7... grmbl and now I can't sleep anymore...

But hey just realised... IT'S PAYDAY!!!

Ilander 07-30-2004 09:24 AM

Oh, I'm not sure if I feel better or not, yet...and I'm not sure I can tell you all why! Maybe in a couple of days...

Well, it turns out that John Kerry can speak after all...though I suppose Edwards is still the better of the two as far as giving speeches goes...GW would be better than both of them if he could pronounce things properly all the time...

You sound like my father-in-law, Jen. I don't bother listening to them, because I am not interested in anything that they have to say.

Jorath Calar 07-30-2004 09:52 AM

What kind of low life scum are these guys if Bush is better than them?

I mean when I was a kid I heard anyone could become the president of US, I didn't know what that meant until the year 2000... aaanybody... a body of water, a dead body...

But Atty, I've been away so long. Can't I get to be a little mean? ;)Good to see you again!

We talk about Xen mostly, what time he goes to bed, gets up, has a meal (spam usually) ...all the intresting stuff

Cloudbringer 07-30-2004 10:51 AM

LOL, and Wellard's usually up at weird times...well, weird for me! :D How's life down there, Wellard?

Hot sticky day here and they are working on the elevator so we get to hear the bell ring periodically and have to use the stairs, which isn't so bad, except it's not airconditioned and for some reason it's usually more humid in the stairwell than anyplace else. Can we say FRIZZY hair day? LOL :D

Hi wellard. We first went to Scotland for 3 weeks on the island of Isaly outside the western coach. Beautiful countryside to say the least. Went over to the mainland a couple of times but we stayed there mainly to rest up. Then we went south to Ireland for the rest of the time exploring that lovely island. And of course we stopped by London for a weekend to do some shopping. I don't want to know what my checking account looks like at this moment. ;) So I feel rested again which is a very nice feeling indeed. This is my last day in Bethesda as well. Going back home tomorrow which will be extremely nice since I'm very family-sick at the moment. Hopefully the hubby will have cleaned up the mess he's bound to have made until I get home. So how are things down under? I hope your family is well.

Well it isn't too bad today. I was hoping the sun would stay out but no, dark clouds on the horizon. Are you by any chance stalking me Cloudy? So how's married life coming along? And give nacht a hug from me (unless he shows up here the next few minutes...)

wellard 07-30-2004 11:27 AM

All is indeed well ladies

Went to see a certain film this morning with my missus. Moore than a little entertaining, quite surprising in parts and very, very sad.

(Cafe=no politics)

Then took the kids for a ride on the pushbikes after they finished school, with poor old me jogging along trying to keep up.
