I have classic "teenageritis" which makes me watch MTV and listen to rap. It's almost gotten to the point where i can understand most all the words in rap songs now. Some of my favorite bands/singers are:
Greenday Sum 41 Blink 182 Nelly Ludacris Da Swishahouse (Paul Wall, Chamelionaire, and DJ Screw) I also like techno. Sandstorm is the best song ever! :D |
Supertramp:
Logical Song (When I was young it seemed that life was so wonderful...) Bloody Well Right (Right, you're bloody well right you know you got a right to say...) Breakfast In America (Take a look at my girlfriend,She's the only one I got...) Goodbye Stranger (Goodbye strange it's been nice, Hope you find your paradise..) Give A little Bit (Give a little bit, Give a little bit of your love to me...) Take The Long Way Home (So you think you're a Romeo playing a part in a picture-show, Take the long way home...) Mark |
Ah, it was Give A Little Bit I was hearing lol!
They were OK. I never owned any of their albums though (or 10cc LoA ;) ) Come to think of it, I never owned any ARS albums either. We always bought the harder stuff when it came to putting money out for music...Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Lynnard Slynnard, Black Sabbath, etc. I think the softest album we ever bought was Peter Frampton's Live album. No, my sister had some Bread and Eagles albums now that I think about it...basically my siblings and I (with the exception of that sister) could only buy albums that wouldn't offend everyone else in the house if we were going to listen to them and the hard rock was all we had in common LOL EDIT: even though we all liked The Rolling Stones, mom refused to allow us to own anything they did while we lived under her roof. Ska is music originating from Jamaica in the 60s - it's the predecessor of reggae. Think of uptempo reggae with a prominent horn section. It was predominantly played on sound systems in the streets rather than live performance. Brought to Britain by Jamaican immigrants in the 60s, and became quite popular here then. What the original skinheads listened to. It went through another bout of popularity in the late '70s and early '80s, and a new wave of British mixed white/black bands formed and recorded on the 2-Tone label, incorporated a more punk sound and were often quite political. I suppose if No Doubt is in any way ska it is 3rd wave - very diluted from its roots, as is a lot of ska/punk these days. Not to say I don't like it, but a lot has been lost imo. |
I know, a new topic! "What Music DONT you really like?" hehe.

Thanks Epona!
I knew it was associated with reggae but at that moment, I could not pull up the words reggae or Jamaica and thought it was a slightly different sound but didn't know how to go about explaining it without its foundation (I think I mentioned somewhere recently that brain damage makes some of my days really fun lol). I really appreciate your taking the time to type it all out! Thanks again! |
Well, I enjoy rock and stuff like Tool, Disturbed, Moonspell, then on to some harder stuff like Mushroomhead, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Stone Sour, but what I love the most is hardcore such as Poison The Well, Evergreen Terrace(local band), At The Drive In, Nora, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Hatebreed, From Autumn To Ashes, Hopesfall, so on and so forth.
Off topic: How do you add color to your text? |
I'd like to start off and say: I HATE RAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly why do I feel as if I've replied to this many, many times before? NOw here's my list of fav bands:

I cant understand that you like Jimi Hendrix Melkor that music from him is terrible i think!
|
Since I went to high school and college in the 80's, 80's Pop/Rock is still my favorite. During the 90's, even though I did not like Country music, I found myself enjoying it and now I find that it is what I listen to must of the time.

New Age ~ Kitaro, Cusco, Himekami. Traditional Chinese ~ Pipa and guzheng solos. |
Okay this just burns. Why all the replies to this guy's thread when I post the exact same thing not one month ago and struggled to aquire just 20 odd replies?
P.S. I like mostly Christian music (ska, rap, r&b, celtic rock, latin rock, alternative, some punk, not much metal, etc. on and on the list goes where it will end nobody knows.) |

I don't think anyone meant to ignore it purposely though and I know you were participating in trying to keep it alive. I dunno! This must just be one of those weeks where posting in a music thread seems to be something to do! |

Its an html tag < font color=whatever color or color code > to start and < /font > to stop. Just no spaces after or before the < >'s. |
Megabot I think the guitarist you are talking about is either Chet Atkins or Chuck Berry.

Oookkaayy
Rush - Neil Pert is THE best drummer the past 20 yrs Metallica Faith Hill Enya Shania Books n Dunn Blink182 Green Day Iron Maiden Andre Bocceli Sara Brightman John Williams CCR GnR Eminem Public Enemy Pink No Doubt Better n Ezra Jimmy Buffett NIN Crystal Method Tori Amos As you can see, I'm very hard to pin down musicaly. Depends on the mood I'm in. |
And today I am in heaven - my mum dug out her pile of old 45s (for the IW youngsters, a '45' is a round vinyl disk with a groove etched into it that used to be used to play music, I realise this is a bit antique for some of today's youth ) so I quickly kidnapped them all and locked myself in my room!
Had a great afternoon playing her records, just like I used to when I was a kid (they were my introduction to music and have influenced my taste considerably). The Who, The Kinks, The Pretty Things, Georgie Fame, The Yardbirds, The Spencer Davies Group, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, The Troggs, and loads loads more! Have been in musical ecstasy. Some of them are a bit beat up (and one 'Pretty Things' single looks like it had an accident with a cigarette, fortunately only on the lead-in, the track itself has escaped unscathed) but most sound pretty good still! |
That's awesome Epona!
:D All of ours were melted in a house fire in 1972 |
I have my dad's entire vinel collection at my fingertips. One day I will actually get to listen to the Blizzard of Ozz on the old turntable.
