Woohoo! Excellent, excellent, excellent. The mental image of Jim Carrey wearing armor is an absolute hoot, great work! Although I do agree about him being better suited for a Jester.
After pondering the old "Who would you cast for the BG movie?" here are a few more suggestions to tickle your brain: Sean Connery as Keldorn Drew Barrymore as Nalia Laurence Fishburne (or Samuel Jackson) as Valygar Catherine Zeta-Jones as Viconia Danny DeVito as Jan Jansen |
Those are FANTASTIC!! I hope to see more soon! I would even go so far as to say that these are the best portraits I've seen made outside of the game itself.

Oh, and I have a bigger pic of Sarevok if you want it, Karse. There is no need to redo the portrait at all, cause it is really great, but I have it if you want it. ;) </font> |

Your work is utterly outstanding... you may want to post your link in your sig, so we can always find it.
I hope those links to pics help you out a bit... you may have to sift a bit to get to the good ones... I would love to see Cameron Diaz up there! :D |

Somebody send him Yoshimo's beta-version portrait, too. One more torso to work with.
Karze, I notice you're only working with the BG2 portraits that are used by the actual NPCs. Is there a reason you're avoiding the BG1 portraits? |
Karse, I might ask Ziroc if he wants to link to your portrait site. There aren't that many good ones around anymore (Kirith is one and Havak is another) since Lady Nightshade's folded. Your stuff is quite outstanding - you give your portraits a very BG-ish look.

Someone said that the Portrait Portal's has the best portratits outside the game, but i must say those are the finest portraits ever, inside and outside the game!!
P.S. Ben Stiller makes an wonderfull thief. P.P.S. Schwarzenegger and Crowe are wonderfull barbarians. |
Hey K. Top quality stuff amte, really top stuff
However...do the ports of Nat, Jen & Halle have to have that nasty scar across all their faces? |
That's brilliant, man!
Some of the best portraits out there definetly, and funniest :D PS. The nicholson one is my definite favourite :D [ 06-02-2002, 01:14 PM: Message edited by: Sir ReGiN ] |

Anyways...if you want it, I get get you the three portraits without scars...how's that. Just write to me at karstendahl@hotmail.com, and I'll send it to you |
Hey, can I put the Jim Carrey one in my sig, if I also include a link to your site?
|
Hi KS! As I stated before, very, VERY nice work. I saw your comment on the other thread, something to the effect of "this is the last time". Not to worry, if the mods thought you were plugging your site too much they'd let you know
Interesting that the point came up with the ladies and scars. I also thought about some people being a bit turned off by them which made me think about tatooing as another possibility. Something like the Minsc portrait, or Chikote (not sure of the spelling) in ST Voyager. Of course I have no idea if that is feasable with the tools you use or if it is practicable at all. Just a thought and irregardless, you are doing great work! |
WOW. I'm impressed. Those are the best custom made portraits I've seen since... well ever! Not sure which one is my favorite, they're all badass. Gotta love the Halle Berry one though :D She was the one good thing about the Dungeons and Dragons movie!
So how long does it take you to make one of these portraits, including time searching for the right picture down to making the final touches? Somebody should hire you Maybe we could all pitch in some money and you could make custom ports for us whenever we wanted :D BTW it sure would be cool if someone made a portrait of Hudson Leick (Callisto)... or even Milla Jovovich or Sharon Stone... or maybe a portrait of Jet Li as Yoshimo... ;) |

Anyway, just have to say thank you, again, Karse. Russell Crowe makes a wonderful Berserker. </font> |

Hi, just testing this, seeing if what you said is true. If you don't want me to do this as my regular sig, PLEASE say, I don't want to make any enemies here.

Well, now I feel inadequate.
Tell you what, you keep doing quality and I'll keep doing quantity. :D I'd like to request a portrait of Angela Bassett. Here's a pic of her from Strange Days: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8220/ang11.jpg The site this pic came from also has pics of Ralph Fiennes. http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8220/ I know from my own experiences how hard it is to find good quality pics on the web. Vidcaps just don't cut it. (If anyone knows of a good source of quality pics of Hercules or Conan, let me know.) |

Calm down there buddy. It's been a long time since I saw that movie and I could have sworn Halle was in it.. I take it she was not? I am not 'buddy'. I am a lady. Let's get that cleared up right away. And no, she was not in that hideous piece of crap. Quote:
The reason I would be offended, if I were Halle Berry, has nothing to do with racism. It is because the woman in question was both ugly and an utterly horrible, laughable, pathetic actress. Now, you may 'bugger off'. |

No worries - like I said before, you've got the makings of a really good site - it could grow to something as big as Lady Nightshade's or Kirith and we're happy to help you reach an audience. You should try emailing some of your stuff in to Bioware - your work is definitely game quality. |

Sorry. I misunderstood Wynne's post and over-reacted just a little bit ;)
I still don't understand her comment, but I definately shouldn't have responded the way I did. My appologies. Now let us move on and continue to admire Karse's wonderful creations.. |

Highya, what do ya think of it? I did it before, then stopped cos I wasn't sure if you minded, Karze. But does it work now?
|
Hi Horatio! It worked great and they come out fine. The only problem is that if you intend for that to be your sigs pic, it is far too big for what is allowed at IW. Had a problem with huge sig pics a while back and had to incorporate rules to keep them smaller. So you might want to shrink it or subtract a couple to bring it down to one bar instead of two.
Dude, I'm not worried. You can answer as many questions as you like and mention it as many times as you like. What I meant was that it would be easier for everyone to keep it to this thread, so everyone would know where to go.

It's always nice to feel wellcome I haven't considered mailing Bioware about the portraits, and I probably won't either. Maybe, I'd consider it if I didn't "steal" pictures of real life actors and just blended it together with other people's artwork I don't see the portraits I make as anything other than a whole lot of fun Guess I have to visit Nightshade and Kirith...just to see what I have to live up to Again thanks for the help. |
