Bioware. They happen to make our favourite D&D games but they beat around the bush alot, sell people short and introduce a hoarde of bugs every time. Black isle was much better,

I'm going to vote for Rockstar games...

Anyone played Manhunt
or Max Payne 2
or The GTA: Vice City

I just Played Manhunt and damn it's disturbing... (and boring)... violence for violence sake... no story.

Max Payne 2... boring story and characters and overhyped violence

GTA Vice City... Well I liked it... but these guys really like violence...

i vote for volition. for refusing to even consider making summoner 2 a pc game. :( as a pc gamer, that's just unforgiveable to me.

</font>
While I am indifferent as to the future of Summoner, I do want Volition to make a Freespace 3. The first and second part are definately in my top 10 of all-time favorite games

I am not so familiar with the game companys, I was going to vote for EA-games, but then I figured, they made Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge.

So nope.
That was Westwood Studios who made those games TyranyuZ but EA was the publisher for the games!
And now have EA killed Westwood so no more games from them! :(

Blizzard, they have stolen WAY! too much timeo fmy life releasing good games that are absolutely timestealing. Oh you don't mean in that way.. er... oki...

Atari.
Because they seem to have a very sloppish attitude towards time scale and also about going for quality. They also seem to have a tight arse policy about patches fr games, and well they have released alot of crap, most that looked promising but ended up as a bug ridden rotten apple in the end.

I don't recall the name of this company that released Steel Panthers ... SSI or SSL I think it was. They could suck a golfball through a garden hose anyday!
Crappy patches and slow as heck with information about updates and answering questions about problems etc.

Anyway, I think that most publishers today don't take enough time to consider the longterm effects of a badly released, badly made and badly supported game for their name. If they relese crap, they should at least sorry or continue to try and make it not so crap with patches etc.

Just look at Vampire the Masquerade, they refused to implement a pause button first. After harsh critique and several protests from both gaming mgazines (in thoose days when they were not the pawns they seem to be today) and their fanbase. They finally released ONE patch that made some improvment and made you able to pause the game.

Today very few companies are listening in that way. :(

Atari, is a good company, I have still not come over a bad atari game. Besides, them and namco made all the classic game, pacman, asteroids, and Klanoa (It might not be a classic, but it's one of my favorites.)

vesselle 06-29-2004 05:41 PM

so are we talking developers or publishers here?

I'm not one to really point the finger at the 'absolute worst' game companies, but a recent feedback response from EA's technical assistance left me very annoyed recently.

I bought the Dragon Edition of the Ultima Ascension pack in May or so 2000 and have been gradually going through the series. I'm up to Serpent's Isle and have been trying to find an ideal setup to get it going in DOS on my newly setup Dx4-100; a dedicated retro gaming machine. :D

Anyway, I emailed EA for help with this setup - since they are obliged to help after taking over Origin . *sniff sniff*. The response I got was amusing at first. The person replied asking for my dxdiag information when I made it very obvious that U7 Part Two is a DOS game and that Directx isn't installed! Grr!

I replied and repeated my request. Basically I was told that they no longer have that information anymore and that I was to look elswhere online. Disgraceful! Perhaps the individual who responded just didn't know, but I'm sure with a bit of research asking more knowledgable work associates - I'd have gotten the help I needed.

I would have thought that EA would pride itself on its technical help and actually take responsibility for the games of companies it takes over.

Oh well. I'll figure something out. If anyone has a setup or secret method they used, feel free to PM me.

What's the big deal with EA? They have made a lot of good games. The Lotr seiries, The James Bond games, and other countless games, They are probably one of the best!

CerebroDragon 07-01-2004 12:58 PM

I don't deny that EA have made good games. I love many early EA games but that's not the issue. So if you read my post more carefully Keal, you might understand 'what the deal' is.

It isn't just you, everyone else is saying that it sucks.

T/-/alali 07-10-2004 02:43 PM

Hmmm, don't really hate many game companies, but I like alot of them. :D Hmmmm, Blizzard, Bioware and, Square-Enix are my favorites.

Keal 07-16-2004 10:02 PM

Have to bow to Square/Squareenix *bows and kisses the ground*
