Yes, it does sound negative... but it was the word he used.

SecretMaster 03-01-2003 06:22 PM

Hey, I'm taking the words from the guards themselves. They say smuggling artifacts out of Dwemer Ruins is illegal, i.e., taking dwemer items. Thats what I meant, plus, I like to "preserve history" by leaving things the way they are.

Kakero 03-01-2003 06:42 PM

ahh..there is a history of this. you see, before the Imperial Empire conquer Morrowind. Taking Dwemer things is not considered illegal. only when Morrowind was conquered that the Imperial decided to outlaw all dwemer things being taken out from where they are found.

so the 3 artifacts was not smuggled out from Kagerac Fortress because that happen long time ago.

TheSlayer 03-02-2003 11:30 AM

But that still wont change the fact that you are breaking the Imperial Law when you take them from their citadels.

The Imperial Law says that 'smuggling', taking Dwemer artifacts from Dwemer ruins is illegal. So without the permission of the emperor, it is still illegal taking Sunder and Keening.

Rolandthemad 03-02-2003 02:59 PM

Perhaps it would be worth noting that Keening and Sunder are both owned by the Sixth House, and the 'Dwermer ruins' are no longer considered as such but are now Sixth House citadels.

ahh..you are mistaken as well. did you read the letter you were supposed to give to caius cosades? in it I believe it says " Do whatever necessary to slove the mystery in Morrowind ".

I would presume you have got the emperor permission to do whatever you need to solve the sixt house and dagoth ur problem.

then again why are we debating? we MUST have those 3 artifacts in order to finish the game. shesh!

New interview from http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=12654

Bethesda Softworks continues to grow its hit RPG Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with the upcoming expansion pack Bloodmoon, bringing werewolves to their established fantasy RPG universe. HomeLAN got a chance to chat with the expasnion's project leader Ashley Cheng to find out more about Bloodmoon.

HomeLAN - First, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind continues to be very popular. How does it feel to create a successful and critically acclaimed RPG?

Ashley Cheng - I Feel extremely lucky to be doing this for a living – not just making games, but to work at a company where we have the freedom to make a game like Morrowind. I think the Elder Scrolls development team is one of the most dedicated and hard working I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They are the reason Morrowind is so successful.

HomeLAN - When the time came to create Bloodmoon, what were the development team's main goals?

Ashley Cheng - We knew we wanted to do werewolves. Ever since they didn't make it into Morrowind, it was always our intention to revisit werewolves. It remains the number one most requested feature after Morrowind shipped. Snow and tundra just seemed like the next progression in terms of art, and it looks just awesome. Also, I really missed going out into the wilderness and exploring the world, without a care as to what quest I was on. So we created Solstheim, a brand new island for you to explore.

HomeLAN - Will there be an overall story arc in Bloodmoon and if so what can you tell us about it at this stage?

Ashley Cheng - We don't want to spoil it too much but it focuses on the prophecy of the Bloodmoon. Needless to say, werewolves will also play a part. Certain quests will have two sides that you can experience either as a normal person or as a werewolf.

HomeLAN - What new locations and settings will be seen in the second expansion pack?

Ashley Cheng - We're including a brand new island for you to explore, complete with forests and two new weather types – snow and blizzards. You'll find an Imperial fort, a mining colony, a tribe of Nords, Castle Karstaag – an impenetrable ice fortress, dozens of new ice cave dungeons, and Nordic burial tombs.

HomeLAN - Bloodmoon has a horror theme it. What can you tell us about the new creatures that will be a part of the expansion pack?

Ashley Cheng - The Draugr -- undead, flesh-eating zombies who used to be Nords -- are among my favorite. We also have wolves and bears roaming the wilderness. We have a frozen lake full of Horkers, who can both swim and move on land. We have lots of Rieklings who are these small ice warriors with deadly weapons and who also ride Frost Boars for more mobility and strength.

HomeLAN - What other new gameplay elements are you putting into the second expansion pack?

Ashley Cheng - We've added a new faction to join. The East Empire Company is trying to start up a mining colony on Solstheim. You can join the colony, work your way up in rank, and even have a hand in deciding how the mining colony is built. We've basically expanded on the stronghold concept from Morrowind. Now you can help create an entire town. As the colony grows, more NPC's will arrive to populate the colony.

HomeLAN - Will there be any new graphical enhancements put into Bloodmoon?

Ashley Cheng - We've added two new weather types – snow and blizzard, and we've also created new snow and tundra landscapes.

HomeLAN - Will Elder Scrolls IIImod makers have access to all of the new content in the expansion for their mods?

Ashley Cheng - Yes. The new weather types are configurable in the Editor and we've also documented the new functions in the Help File for their reference.

HomeLAN - Are there plans to release the two Elder Scrolls III expansions for the Xbox at some point?

Ashley Cheng - Unfortunately, we can't release expansions for Xbox in the same manner that we can for a PC. We are still looking into our options for Xbox. We love the Xbox and are committed to supporting our Xbox fanbase.

HomeLAN - What is the current status of the expansion's progress and when will it be released?

Ashley Cheng - Bloodmoon will ship in May 2003. Most of the art is going through polishing at this point and our designers are feverishly implementing the quests into the game – in fact, most of the quests are playable right now.

HomeLAN - Will Bloodmoon be the final commerical expansion pack for Elder Scrolls III or are there plans for more expansions?

Ashley Cheng - It's too early to say.

HomeLAN - What can you tell us at this point about the future for the Elder Scrolls game series?

Ashley Cheng - Based on Morrowind's success, it looks pretty good.

HomeLAN - Finally is there anything else you wish to say about Bloodmoon before we wrap this up?

Ashley Cheng - I can think of no better way to thank our great fans for their support than bringing back werewolves, one of the best – and most requested – features, from Daggerfall. The development team was just as disappointed as the fans were when werewolves were cut from Morrowind, but I think we made the right choice. Devoting an expansion pack allows us time to do it right, to make it fun and challenging.

It looks like this thread has degenerated into lawyer's talk...

Kakero 03-11-2003 05:53 PM

hmm..I just hope the weather effect won't make the computer slow down to a crawl. like ashstorm did.

SecretMaster 03-11-2003 07:59 PM

The ashstorms really never affected our computer, and we barely made the requirements. But I am wondering if the game will be bogged down by snow.

Kakero 03-12-2003 12:22 AM

if the ashstorm didn't, then the snow won't either. because I think both use the same frame rate.
