Larry's character response:
"Truth? What more truth can I say? These people know what I am and you saw the elf here ready to fry me. I was just making a scene to get her to show me what kind of person she was. You know...find out if she was under that hood for a reason, as I do not think it is the latest fashion with the girls these days. So...you gonna take me to jail, or what?" [ 01-11-2004, 06:34 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Going up to the child, she bent down, fixing her dark brown eyes upon his defiant face and spoke - firmly, but gently.
"And do you believe you are right to have done this? Harass someone who was minding her own business?" ~ Darting a glance at the still hooded figure ~ "This lady has a right to her secrets, just as you would have had your right to yours... but you have over-reached yourself, whoever you are." Getting up, she turned to the elder half-elf and bowed slightly ~ "Please, if you will accept my coin, consider that this creature here has paid you for your meal." ~ Depositing some coin the bartop, she turned to the child again. "And if you will be good enough to apologise to this lady, I am sure we can settle this in a more amicable manner." [ 01-10-2004, 11:54 PM: Message edited by: mistral4543 ] |
Irinisayn looked down at the shifter. "I should say the people who really need to be apologized to are the owners of this establishment." She glared at him. "Though I should be happy to recieve an apology, I'd be overjoyed to merely be rid of this nosey beast."
Deiter mumbled under his breath. "I feel the same..." |
Larry's character response:
Markul He ignored the words of the two that hated him, turning to his savior...the human lady that was so quite... "Yes, you are right...I am a trouble maker and a bad person for causing this riot." He turned to the hooded one. "I am sorry Mistress Elf. I did not intend any harm. I shall offer my services to you in return for my rude behavior if you allow me the opportunity to prove my worth." He turned to the human... "And to you, the same offer applies." [ 01-11-2004, 06:34 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
She took a back step, shaking her head gently and speaking in that same firm, but kindly tone.
"Thank you... but I think I would rather travel alone, for now." ~ Turning to the hooded figure, she smiled to herself. I can hardly imagine her being overjoyed by such a proposition... |
The tiefling scoffed, "I personally would rather travel with a hundred festering sores on the bottom of each foot. Your service to me will end with staying out of my way and taking your engrossment with the unexplained with you."
|
Larry's character response:
Markul "Then I shall be happy to remove myself from your presence and you shall never see my face again. Again I am sorry that my nature got a little out of hand. Good day to you." The little boy turned his back on the onlookers and began walking to the door. [ 01-11-2004, 06:35 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
As the onlookers gradually moved on to occupy themselves with their various interests, she turned to the hooded figure and bowed slightly.
"That was a most admirable display of your prowess with enchantments, miss. If you would not mind... might I be able to know your name?" |
The tiefling eyed the other woman for a moment, liquid distrust of all people mingling with her blood. Yet this one did not seem to be the incompetent fool the shifter had been, perhaps it was worth an attempt at making acquaintances. "I am Irinisayn, Sayn if you will."

"Thank you for your trust, Sayn." ~ She spoke softly, looking around to ensure that they were quite alone in their private conversation ~ "I must confess I feel quite the fool, for being so soliticious just now, before that rude interruption."
There was a twinkle in her left eye as she continued ~ "As I mentioned earlier, I am fascinated by your powers of sorcery." ~ A faint blush crossed her cheeks as she held her flute in both hands, making a standing bow ~ "My name is Ji Xiang." ~ A falter in her voice ~ "Xiang Er, if you will." |
"A pleasure." She chuckled softly and looked down at her hands. "I find myself fascinated by my sorcerous powers as well at times..."
|
Ji Xiang
What self-confidence she has... ~ She checked the look of amazement threatening to betray itself ~ But then, perhaps people behave differently in these parts of the world... ~ A thought struck her ~ Indeed, if she is a person... "Indeed, I... " ~ She halted, torn between desire and shame ~ "... I confess, I am somewhat of a hypocrite." Sighing, she looked downward ~ "I have no wish to know your secrets, but I would consider it an honour if I could join you in your travels." ~ Her breathing was becoming nervous ~ "If you are embarking on any, and wouldn't mind my company, that is." Hypocrite indeed.. ~ She could hear her teacher snorting already, be he a million miles away. Well, the die had been cast. She stood apprehensively, trying to decipher her new acquaintance's reaction. |
Irinisayn bit her lower lip suddenly, considering the hurricane of thoughts swirling in her mind.
Now what have I gotten myself into? I've drawn far too much attention to myself. This will not do at all. Then... I suppose the situation is not so bad, but this one will not be undone. Hmph. Then she will have to come along. Not that it matters. I'm sure my blood will cry for her maiming soon enough. No berk lacks the ability to be insatiably annoying. She cleared her throat. "You may follow me, certainly, though my current destination is nothing epic, to be sure." |
Ji Xiang
Her shoulders sagged as she heard the reply, and a faint smile tugged at her lips ~ "Thank you." ~ She paused a moment, contemplating her next words, then continued ~ "My path now is that of a wanderer; I have nowhere to go, and my gold - you saw how quickly I've lost some of it for that little joker - will diminish rapidly enough." ~ It was a matter-of-fact tone ~ "Better for me to be employed with some goal in sight, than to continue my current state of mindless squandering." |
OOC>>>I have discovered my character's weaknesses that will be true limits to his powers in this RP. If you wish to know them, ask...or continue reading my future posts and see if you can find them.
A female halfling came into the tavern and went straight to a table, eagerly looking for service from the waitress. A meal was ordered. Halflings are known for thier appetites, and this little halfling was not about to let that legend be proven untruthful. She ate and ate, enjoying every bite as though it were her last. When she was satisfied...as it is said that halflings never get "full"...she stood up from her table and excused herself to the ladies' room. A few minutes later, a slender young elf maiden came from the same room, wiping her hands on her trousers. Anyone that knows elves would recognize her as a silver or moon elf...noble of birth, yet not arrogant and prideful like their golden or sun elf cousins. A moon elf was the most favored of any of their race for their tolerance for all other races and subraces. It was most common to find one of them in a city such as this, and Markul knew this. It was his best defence to blend in with the crowd when caution was required. The slender elf walked to the door and left the tavern. OOC>>>If I posted too much at once,,,let me know to edit. |

"Indeed. Should we see this quest to the end there should be ample reward to pay for necessities, at least. It is surely a long walk to our destination, however, and I had planned on staying in Athkatla for at least the remainder of today." Her gaze shifted momentarily to the windows of the building, the long shadows of the late afternoon beginning to stretch along the streets. She then again faced her new companion. "But what say you? I have no objections to traveling at night. If nothing else we would save the money spent on board here." |

”Oh, I am in no hurry.” ~ Triumph rang sweetly in her voice, and she actually beamed into the hood ~ “Is there any equipment that we shall for the journey, that we are still lacking?” ~ There was a touch of anxiety in her tone ~ “I… we could go out and purchase it.” There was a murmur about the room, that gnawed at her. She tilted her head slightly, to see the rapid exit of the new arrival. Every one else in the room seemed to be casting dark looks about, hissing something about “coincidence”. [ 01-11-2004, 09:29 PM: Message edited by: mistral4543 ] |

The tiefling frowned softly and her eyes darted to the door. "Hmm... I have come to lack some basic provisions... Yes, let us go wander the streets until sundown. We can stock up on a few things, then return here and plot our course for tomorrow morning. Sound like a plan?" she said, eyes returning steadily upon the face of her partner. |
"Let us be on our way, then." ~ She tried to smile naturally, but the attempt went awry as she felt the intense gaze of her yet-unseen companion burning her cheeks. With a slight cough, she stepped aside, allowing Sayn to walk ahead and followed closely behind, determined not to lose sight of this enigma.

Perfection, that’s what it was, perfection pure and simple. Nothing like a deliberately botched job to set up the real thing, nosiree. Blow the small score to get the big one, that’s the way to do it. Hardest part of the job was botching the small score, things like that are tough when a guy takes his work and his art serious-like, and especially when he got the guy’s coin purse in his hand and the mark ain’t nothing the wiser for it. Still, he did it though, just like they planned it, made just enough motion to get noticed just like they planned it because that’s what the pros do, they act according to the plan. The yelling was the best part, well that and the commotion and the running to get away and the well-timed bumping right where the real target was so his partner could make the score, those were all the best part. Well, all that and the fact the he still had the mark’s coin purse in his hand. That wasn’t necessarily in the plan, but hey, even pros gotta improvise sometimes. Speaking of improvising …... he really should keep moving, the guards are slow but they don’t give up all that easy. But he ain’t never been one to pass up an inspiration when it hits him. Hell, ain’t that just what any real artist would do? It sure is and that’s why he’s made it a point to stop right here where that adventurer is coming outta the shop. Yep, he ain’t never been one to pass up an inspiration specially when it’s looking to be worth as much coin as that trinket hanging on his belt looks to be worth. A suitably frantic expression and a few panted words with just the right hint of urgency – easy stuff to pull off when you just been running for life – things like that work just fine with those heroic types. Yep no problem at all, a quickly conjured tale of pursuing ruffians and an assuringly pompous pronouncement from the hero and the trinket is safely tucked away. Perfection, that’s what it is. Well, except that the guards have seen him again and they’re making a fuss and it’s time to run again. The hero steps in front of the guards and buys him some time, though, that’s the best part – that’s always the best part. Home free, ain’t nobody gonna catch a pro like him. Well that would be the case if it weren’t for the two woman who just stepped out into the street in front of him. Down he goes with a crash and down they go. He should be able to get a couple more purses here, but hey, that ain’t no way to treat a dame. The sounds of the guards’ pursuit and the pompous voice of the hero are just around the corner as he bounces up to his feet. Time to improvise again. Now that’s the mark of a pro, being able to think stuff up on the fly. He presses the original mark’s purse into the hand of one of the women, the one what ain’t wearing a hood. “Cover for me, toots,” he smiles, “this is the best part.” Before the surprised women can respond, he turns the corner even as the approaching guards and the angry hero turn into the street. Just like the pros do it, yes sir. ooc: The demands on my time will not allow full-time participation here, but I might be able to manage a recurring character over the next couple weeks. Sayn had just been stepping off in the direction of Waukeen's Promenade when she and Xiang were knocked down flat by some idiot berk barreling around like a blind man being chased by a swarm of wasps. Unfortunately she was too stunned to maim the fool, but on the other hand she had been lucky in that the fall had not loosed her hood from her head. As soon as the rogue had dashed off, Sayn's eyes snapped to her companion's hand, which now held a gold pouch. She sent one last glance back in the direction the man had taken, then smiled, dusted herself off, and offered Xiang a hand in getting up. "Well, that will solve some of our money problems. Let's be off, shall we? I reccomend in the sake of spite we spend that gold before the fool returns for it."

Standing in a crowd that was busy moving away from the stampede of guards chasing a street thief, Markul stood and watched with the eyes of a male moon elf the hooded lady leave the door of the tavern followed by her new foreign friend and smirked as they were barreled into by the aforementioned thief. With his elven eyes, he noted the passing of something into the hand of the latter lady before he darted off again. The guy was actually good enough to escape without being shot by that elf-lady's magic bolt. He called her an elf. It was the only thing that made since. He had met alot of people in his life, and this one...hooded or not...had to be an elf. He watched with anticipation to see where their path would lead them now. |
OOC>>> Yay, Cyril's here!! Thanks for dropping by :D
IC>>> Glancing about her dusty shoulders, she glared in the direction of the clumsy lout that had run them down like a rolling boulder. What had he called her again... toots?! It did not matter that she was not certain of its meaning per se; the tone of his voice had settled it ~ If I ever see him again... ~ Her jawline tightened, and knuckles cracked. Sayn's words were of little comfort, though. Too often had she seen such 'hit and run' incidents, and she wondered if her travelling companion knew the implications of their newly acquired bounty ~ I suppose she does... and is confident of getting away with it. ~ The annoying tugs at her conscience would not be swatted away and she grimaced slightly as she faced her friend ~ She might not think of me as one, but I sure do, of her... "Let's go then." ~ She spoke briefly, reaching out to grip Sayn's wrist and beginning to drag her into action rapidly ~ "I've no qualms about spending this, we've to do so before the guards or owner turn up to arrest us." |
Sayn shrugged and quickened her pace. "I doubt they'd suspect us, but as you wish." She then gestured to a narrow road she knew lead to the promenade. "This way, I do believe it's faster. Less traveled by, anyway." There was no trepidation fueling her voice or step.
|
Nodding, she advanced without hesitation, not wanting to voice her doubts. The sun gave a lazy yawn as the two of them crossed the narrow path and onward to the Promenade. The streets were certainly still gay with activity, as ever. Stray dogs halted to let themselves be petted by squealing urchins, well-muscled warriors posed to the delight of swooning ladies of fashion, exhibitionists demonstrated their powers of pleasing with alacrity. Occasionally, a filthy beggar would moan “Spare some change, please”, only to be shoved away by swaggering dandies, to the laughter of their girlish companions. It seemed to Ji Xiang that the bazaar was beckoning to them to make their last purchases before the day was ended, and another one begun.

Markul
The elf saw the two ladies making a pathway in a determined destination, and opted to follow. He was just a fool for curiosity, and the hooded lady certainly was reeking of curiousness. He kept a respectable pace behind them, as to not appear to be aware of their pace ahead of him. He thought about whistling a tune, but decided against that, as the curious one had those sensitive ears and might recognize his off-key tone. As he walked however, he enjoyed his stroll and spoke greetings to passerby that met his gaze. Up ahead, the two ladies were keeping their pace towards some unknown desire. He hoped to be able to learn this one's secret soon enough so he could put this puzzle to rest. When one is a Shifter, one frequently looks for trouble to keep one's sanity and lust for life on the edge. Finding interesting things about the world and the beings that inhabit it was the only thing worth living for. Finally, he saw where they were destined. The shops, to purchase wares. Of course...it made sense. They needed to stock up before they went somewhere. [ 01-12-2004, 11:03 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
(ooc: Sorry I wasn't around guys... Very busy with school this week. Three day weekend though! All I've got scheduled for it is a bit of driving practice and the first six chapters of A Tale of Two Cities, so I should be a posting maniac as usual.)
Sayn made her way past countless vendors before finding the store she wanted: the adventurer's mart. Though she was fairly certain that even with their newly aquired funds she would not be able to afford anything extrordinairy, expensive, or magical, she knew that this place would cater to all of her needs in rope, ink, and discount alchemical components. With daylight rapidly fading, she figured it was best to stop here as opposed to browsing through countless peddler's stands in search of bits and scraps. |
OOC>>> I can only guarantee to be around for the next 2 hours. After that, I have a haircut, followed by dinner and watching play with my friend. Tomorrow is probably out, as I need to go to the temple to offer my prayers and incense to my maternal grandma who passed away last year.
IC>>> Ji Xiang studied the assortment and spray of ornaments at the mart, then at the characters within it ~ They don't seem very friendly to me. ~ She clutched her flute closely, strolling about and stopping occasionally when an item caught her interest ~ Now I understand the advantanges of wearing a hood. ~ Her gaze unwittingly ended upon Sayn, who clearly had an eye for useful items ~ I'm glad she's found something she likes, at any rate. Motioning to the grumpy old gnome growling at her silently, she pointed to a white hood neatly folded and placed on the sturdy table. "That'll be 20 gold pieces!" Her lips curled at the bark and her forehead creased. "Don't be a damned fool, Bodwa! Treat the lady nicely!" The old gnome's face darkened further before he turned back to her, obviously frustrated ~ "That costs 20 gold pieces, ma'am." ~ There was a deliberate cough again, and he grimaced ~ "Please." |
Markul
With his elven eyes and ears, Markul studied the human that was traveling with the hooded one. It was his greatest desire to find out more about that elf, but he realized that she was too closed off to allow passage for inquiry. But the Eastern human was in her circle now. hmmm he thought...for what if he were to win over the trust of the human, so as to get in good with her, maybe that would be progression towards his elf-lass. He darted behind an older building and hid behind a large barrel. Moments later, a human stepped out into the light. He was 18 years of age, soft features and the light reflected in his eyes like diamonds. In fact, in the way that Markul fashioned himself, one would think that he and the lady that he was approaching were family...maybe siblings. He had successfully mimicked the Eastern lady in what would have been her male version...but altered a few aspects as to take away this apparent fact. His nose was more rounded. His ears were not lobed like her's, and the setting of the eyes were a bit different, yet her eyes themselves he kept, just as she had them. Magnificient and fiery. He was a young and exciting young man, whio suddenly had an appetite like none could imagine. Yet he suppressed this urge, as it was not necessary to eat for a while longer. When he did, he'd have to keep it low-key, and then transform into a smaller personage later so that he could do more eating. Halflings were so easy to do in those times. He approached the lady as she was making a purchase on an item, and said, "Excuse me, lady...but...I must speak with you." |
Sayn swayed quietly from one end of the store to the other, tucking various small items into the crook of her arm. Ink, candles, a few empty vials and components to make a small variety of potions, oil and a new lantern... The tiefling fastened a coil of rope over her shoulder then made her way back to the front of the store to make her purchases. She set the items down on the counter then looked up at the clerk and smiled.
"Good afternoon Riebald." The half-elf studied the hooded woman critically for a moment then grinned broadly. "Well I'll be! It's been a while since I've seen you, Miss Sayn." "Indeed it has... So long in fact that this is the only place in the entire city I readily recognize." "Well, that's understandable. Last time you were this far south Neverwinter was a log cabin and some cows." "Mmm, yes I suppose that's right. Of course last time I was this far south you were still struggling with getting enough facial hair to shave." "Ahhh Sayn, don't remind me..." "And why not remind you of your youth? You've aged absolutely terribly." "Sharp tongued as ever, my lady. Though I'd remind you that I'm not the one who can boast about witnessing the birth of Elminster." The two of them exchanged highly amused grins. Then Riebald inquired, "So what can I do for you, my friend?" Sayn gestured to the items laid before them. "All of this in a satchel, if you would." |
A slight frown formed on her lips as she hung the neatly folded hood on her left hand ~ Drats, just a minute too late. ~ Darting a glance at Sayn, who had just ended a tete-a-tete with the shopowner and was fishing out the pouch ~ "I..." ~ She turned back to eye the intruder, her dark brown eyes glistened, then blinked momentarily ~ "I only have a minute to spare. What do you want?"
Her gaze began to shift between him and Sayn ~ I mustn't lose sight of her... |
Markul
He looked around and saw the hooded one shopping, and realized that she was very concerned to keep her attention on her newfound friend. He turned back and smiled, realizing that she was tougher than he'd imagined and that this disguise was not as suitable as he had hoped. He was in need of a story. Hmmmm... "My apologies for the intrusion. I could not help noticing that you look like me to a large measure...and...well...I have never known the land from whence I came. I was sold by my parents, as my Master tells me...to come and live in this land, away from the origin of my birth. When I see you, I see my home, and I only wish to know more of it. I see you are with the one that is cowled in cloth. Is she also from our land?" [ 01-18-2004, 10:00 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Her back erected as she heard his words and she inhaled deeply before turning around to face him, a full ten seconds later ~ "You are from the East." ~ There was a slight tremor to her voice, which abruptly turned brusque ~ "It is obvious you have met a kind Master, for you look well." ~ Bowing slightly, she took a sidestep, then another, towards Sayn ~ "I am sorry, I see my friend is ready to go and your minute is up." ~ Emotions washed over her face, but all she did was look defiantly at him and return to her new friend.
|
Markul
Looking very disappointed but resolved to the decision of the lady, he watched her walk away from him. Damn,,, but these two ladies are a tough pair to crack! I shall find my way in this group and learn what my fool curiosity desires to learn, then move on. I shall live for nothing else. He pondered long over what steps to take to get in good with this team. As he did, he walked by a produce stand and eyed some fresh apples. They were too good to pass up. He dug deep in his pockets, but knew there would be nothing there. He needed a heavy snack, but did not want to lose sight of his prey. What could he do? [ 01-18-2004, 11:48 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
ooc-*insert drumroll here*
ic- A girl, if indeed it is a girl, wandered into the plaza. The youthful creature’s build is delicate and slender, and it is hard to tell if it is either a pretty, effeminate boy, or an even prettier girl. While not having the same beauty as that of an elf, it has a wild beauty of its own that reminds oneself of a sprite or pixie. Its slightly curly, shoulder-length, Renaissance-style hair of a pale yellow-gold hue looks slightly tangled and windswept as it frames the delicate pale face. The slightly large eyes are the main feature in its face, and cause no small amount of discomfort to passerby. The left eye is oddly void of expression and appears to be blind due to its milky white pupil, while the other eye is a vibrant emerald green with pale yellow flecks, reminiscent of the creature’s hair color. This eye is very penetrating and seems to be able to look right through you, which is accentuated by the vacant look of the left. The strange gaze along with the seemingly unisex – albeit beautiful – build makes passerby very uneasy and slightly wary around the being. A few children ran up to the “girl” to gawk, and she smiled and talked to them eagerly before their worried mothers hurried over and ushered them away. The creature didn’t seem nonplussed by this reaction and continued to make its way among the various stalls while the other passerby made wide berth. Its appearance is slightly unkempt, not due to traveling, but to that of one who does not care much about such matters. It wears a silken, pale yellow shirt that goes to mid-thigh and has flowing sleeves, with a waist-length, comfortable fitting emerald green vest woven of a thicker, more protective unknown cloth over it. Underneath the vest a strong brown rope is looped around the creature’s waist to secure the shirt, and some small pouches are hanging off this at random intervals. Its brown-sugar coloured cloth pants of a warm, coarse material bell out and gather in at the top of its sturdy, cranberry-red calf-high boots, which have a strange furry substance woven into the inside. The eccentric creature’s entire wardrobe seems to be woven of the same material, from its medium-sized cranberry-red rucksack on its back down to its slightly travel-stained boots, and it does not appear to be rich nor carry any weapon – in fact it does not seem to travel with many necessities that one expects of a traveler. Despite this, the being appears healthy and sound in every way, except maybe in the mind – a rumour is being whispered that it has conversations with the air and other things that most humanoids cannot communicate with, such as squirrels, flowers, and dogs, among other things. ooc- now switching to my char’s point of view instead of the onlooker ic- Sive (ooc- pronounced “shee-vah”) wandered about the marketplace. She was still wondering why that woman had rushed up and made the children go away when she was in the middle of telling them a story. She shrugged to herself dismissively and smiled at a frowning middle-aged man who was walking by, who in return frowned more deeply and loped to the farthest side of the plaza. She paused a moment and tilted her head to one side, as if listening to something. “You’re right, I should get something to eat. But this place is so interesting! I don’t want to leave yet,” she whined to the seemingly empty air before drifting over to a nearby food stall. The vendor eyed her apprehensively, and she gave him a genial smile. “I would like some food, please,” she said. He asked gruffly “Do you have money to pay for it sir… miss… eh, traveler?” Sive tilted her head to one side and gave him a perplexed look. “Money…? Oh! Those cold disks with the strange scribbles on them. Well, to tell you the truth, no. I was hoping I could get some food in exchange for some information.” she told the hawker with a pleasant smile. He stared at with a mixture of disbelief and suspicion while shifting his feet uneasily. Her gaze was starting to unnerve him, and her presence was scaring off his prospective customers. “What kind of information did you have in mind?”he rumbled at her with a scowl. “So you agree then?” Sive asked, brightening. He gave her an irritated glance. “Yes, yes, anything to be rid of ye!” The effeminate creature tilted its head to one side again, as if listening. “Well… you have half a day left before your stall collapses around you and your wares. And the lost necklace you bought for your daughter is under the grain sack.” The vendor stared at Sive aghast while she continued. “Could I please have a few apples, a few loaves of bread and milk with honey in it, if you have any?” The merchant quickly checked under the grain sack and returned with the necklace clutched in his stunned hand. “How ye be knowing this? Nay, don’t tell me,” he said shakily, and gathered the strange foodstuffs she asked for. She wandered away munching on an apple and with the rest of the food in her brightly coloured pack, leaving the vendor to hurriedly collect his wares before the stall disintegrated around him. ooc- I hope my first post is alright ^^; EDIT- just changing Sive's font color so its not too much like mistral's [ 01-19-2004, 11:44 AM: Message edited by: Skydracgrrl ] |
OOC>>>Very interesting character! I was reading a short story in the FR setting where this guy had similar powers and could tell people their future, but he saw all possible outcomes (like hundreds), and so it drove him kinda crazy, because he never could have clear and precise thoughts...and people were sorta afraid of him. ANYWAY...'ere we go.
================================================= Markul The Eastern man stood there in awe, as he watched the conversation between this stranger and the merchant that he was trying to buy from. He had the same problem of not having the money...but he could not perform any trick like that, which would impress anyone. No...he'd just scare everyone with his ability. Not having the fear of the wierd like normal people do, Markul followed the stranger a pace before speaking up to get her/his attention. He had an idea. "Pardon me, I could not help but notice your trick back there with the merchant. Might we talk?" |
Irinisayn collected her newly purchased belongings, smiled fondly at Ribald, then went to gather her companion.
"Well, the money is well spent now. I got quite a significant discount too, so we should have enough money for a meal and a night at the One-Eyed Wolf, and one at the next inn we chance upon as well." Her mouth was curled into a faint, apparent smile; she was obviously fairly pleased with herself. She then wetted her lips and added, "Let's be off then, shall we? There is much to talk about before we set off on our journey, and the sun is growing dim." EDIT - (ooc: :D *HUGS SKYE*) [ 01-19-2004, 12:28 PM: Message edited by: Killing Spree ] |
She nodded eagerly at Sayn ~ "Let's go." ~ Her cheeks had turned back to their usual hue, with the retreat of the unwelcome youth ~ "Do let me know if there's anything I should be doing tonight, in preparation for our journey tomorrow." ~ A contented sigh ~ "I hope I will not disappoint you." ~ How familiar the words tasted in her lips as she spoke them, so naturally, as if... as if it were he.
Yet as soon as this thought floated to her consciousness, she nearly stomped her feet in vexation ~ This will not do at all, Ji Xiang. You are a disgrace. ~ She strode forward, as if to do so would allow her to fling her cogitations behind ~ No wonder Teacher wanted you to leave his side. You have to learn to be independent. And so it was, that Fate had brought her to the strange lady Sayn. Ever so composed, organised and street-wise, she was indeed the most suitable adventuring companion for a young debutante as herself ~ Infinitely better than any man. ~ Her cheeks slightly coloured, though she knew the wisdom of her decision ~ Yes, Sayn will do, just for me. ~ As they made their way back to the cosiness of the One-Eyed Wolf, she spoke nothing more, except to answer what questions Sayn had for her. |

Sayn felt almost anxious as she made her way back to the One-Eyed Wolf, anticipating the beginning of tomorrow's journey. Strange of you, Sayn, it's not as though it's an epic quest. Naught but a delivery, as far as you're concerned. Yet she felt the shiver of excitement run down her spine, causing her to clench her cloak tighter around her shoulders. For all her countless years of traveling she was keen on this? There must be something in the air... When she entered the threshold of the tavern she paused for a moment to spy a small wooden table in the corner. She gestured for her companion, then sat down across from her. Living up to the renowned quality of the establishment, a waitress was with them in moments. Sayn looked at the menu for only a few seconds before confidently deciding, "I'll have the soup and a goblet of spiced wine, please." She then stared patiently at Xiang, waiting for her to order and for the serving wench to leave before she got down to business. |

IC>>> ”Likewise for me.” ~ The quaver in her tone betrayed some misgiving, but she nodded her confirmation and inwardly sighed as the waitress discreetly retreated ~ Never mind what you order, just be as inconspicuous as possible so you can get on with it. ~ Setting aside her newly acquired hood on the bench, she faced Sayn again ~ I wish she’d just remove her hood… all this concealment is getting a little on my nerves… ~ Her shifty feet tried to remain still as she spoke ~ “I’m ready to listen.” |
