Interesting post, I agree with you 100% But for some reason I like playing Evil everyone always plays GOOD!

For instances I used to play Diablo2 Uswest Hardcore mode (And I was a Huge pker, why cause beign good and leveling and beign good gets boring so I turned to hunting and becoming infamous! oh well forgot my point, but evil is fun! exept it's hard to play completely evil in any game (damn conscience)

I had killed half of the party before they got to the portal to take them to the Abyss on go after Orrcus himself. It was a 4 module set. You start in the first module at level 1 and by the time you got to the 4 module you would be at least level 23

I REMEMBER THAT MODULE SET, or one very similar...

The problem I had / have with that is the fact that the characters will finish as gods among men, and where do they go after?

For me, I prefer the FEAR aspect, knowing that you are alone against the world, and they are all out to get you, and the odds are against you...

Hmm well, considering that there are mindflayer and beholder liches out there to tackle.. I suggest that the barbarian and mage should start working together instead! Alone is strong until he face to much, and then he is going to be sorry he throwed that mage over the cliffs, or when the mage is out of spells, he will be sorry he turned the barbarian into an angry chicken!!

never played a barbarian before.. but i think he would be a machine and cant be stopped.. but i think a pure fighter no matter how difficult in defeating mages can whip out alot of damage cuz of advance weapon prof.. i think ill try barbarian sometime in the future to see how good he is http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Yorick 06-04-2001 05:10 AM

You guys should really check out the Monk and play it before comparing to some of these other characters. I've played most of the Character Kits (one at least from each Class) and found the Monk easily the toughest, especially at later levels. This includes playing a half-orc Barbarian of course.

Just my 2c.

Oh yeah, and I never remove the exp cap. (Had to add that in http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif )

Granted the barbarian is a tank at level 40, but I'd like to see him face off my Kensai. I have no doubt that he could dish out 300 damage easily using Kai. And its all about diminishing returns. A barbarian does'nt improve as much as the 40 levels might suggest.
Madmartigan chill out man..mindless boasting gets you nowhere.

If I remember correclty, in order to hit a char with absolute Immunity you need at least +6 weapon and those are not available until ToB. Thsi barbarian will have trouble with invisible foes.

DonkeyWan 06-04-2001 11:12 AM

Your forgetting the darts of +6 you can make once a day with the cloak of stars....

Anyone, this seems the most pointless topic ever, why don't you all create a multiplayer environment and start duelling with your characters (PS: removing exp caps is sad...)

They're +5 darts, not +6. And Absolute Immunity will protect from all weapons of less than +5 enchantment for 4 rounds. The only weapons that are +5 enchantment in the game (excluding spell weapons like Black Blade of Disaster) are the Cloak of Stars, Crom Faeyr (+5 to hit) and Staff of the Magi. Oh, and the Unholy Reaver, but you can't use it anyway.

This argument will be forever circular as it is based on OPINION, not FACT. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

yes, all these scenarios are somewhat circular. i don't think any one character could ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS smoke ALL OTHER CLASSES. not how this game is set up. too many variables, tactics, and scenarios to play out. BUT...it sure would be fun to have all these people step up, throw down, and square off in some multi-player dueling environments. i, for one, would love to watch http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

ShadowUK 06-04-2001 02:13 PM

We'll have to arrange it Artemis, we could start taking bets http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

I'll be the bookie....... At the moment it stands 3:1 on Kevin the Kensi http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Get one thing straight! Let's do this online see who win eheh! NO cheated characters please! ANd second 50% resit to all the kensai attacks hmm I wonder who will win a 200+ hp kensai or a beserkered 300+ hp barbarian who has alot more def then the kensai and still does humongous dmg with 24 str compared to the kensai who uses kai ability! still he only does half-dmg I really want to prove this cause i tested my lvl 40 barb agaisnt all melee classes and he won by a LONG SHOT so make a time we can have a little fun dueling! and I am not trying to brag shsh

ShadowUK 06-04-2001 03:17 PM

It was only a joke madmartigan with the 3:1 kensi bit http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/tongue.gif. You carn't possibly say for sure who would win because it depends on so many differen't things.........
It's all just personal opinion.

Yeah chill man. Where does the 50% resistance to Kensai damage come from btw? I'm interested.

------------------
Why?

madmartigan 06-05-2001 12:51 AM

arg I aint mad at all! Lol! anyway barbarians Get natural resistance starting at 10% vrs slashing dmg, piercing, bludgening ect... by level 40 it gets to around 50% so basically you'll be taking half melee dmg from anything! and there is also a magical damage resitance (50% so that gets' hafled again after a save) it's really quite rediculous! On top of all that you have beserk! fastest moving character in the game (+2 bonus) And a ton more, wich i have all explained throughout this warped POST! SO all those resistances add in MR (from eq) ect.. and yer basically immune to anything! (+300 hp)

madmartigan 06-05-2001 01:21 PM

renewed...

jabidas 06-06-2001 05:09 AM

Oh dear staff of the magi walk away even if you could detect invisability cloak of nondetection or even just do the spell and spam with incendiary cloud and simialer if a mage wanted the items if noimprisonment no saves no res
