I don´t get all this competition stuff.
BG is not about what would happen if you put a beserker against a bard, it´s team play, so there isn´t one best charackter. Wouldn´t be much fun to make a party out of 6 kensai´s or whatever.

Ok, ok say what you wanty about fighters being top fighters (thats why they are called that). But its dead boring just playing a fighter. The whole point about the other classes is that they arew fun to play ok?

Anyway, it makes the game more fun to play playing a weakish character, more difficult.

i think what really matters is whos in your team, not just a single guy. a group of fighters would suck by themselves with no magical aid. i myself have 3 fighters in my team, backed up by my cleric, thief/illusionist (jan), and mage (edwin). 3 fighters might seem too much for others but its been great for me.
whats the average number of fighters that most other people have?

Well I´ve got no pure fighter. Just Jaheira and Keldorn (taking the fighters job). I just love spell casting, so everbody except him is some sort of mage, druid or cleric......

My biggest regret qbout BGII is that I won't be able to take a sample of all the classes available !

i can't get why people diss the barbarian, he's the best in BG2, my barbarian has 200HP!!! he's faster then other classes exept monks. he's resistant to slashing, piercing and bluonge, or something like that my barbarian kicks ass with all enemys! he killed balor easy by him self...and don't diss bards eather...there great!!!

I think that they are classes that sucks and others that are way cool. But this is my opinion and all of you seems to have different opinion on each classes. Monk and Barbarian has they potential and the blade too but this one is a little weak cause I HATE the rogue thac0. It's like the ninja in the old traditionnal d&d game. Damn it this class is really hot for martial art combat like throw, block, cunter attack, kick, stroke, leg and arm twist.. but ..with a thac0 of -1 at every 2 levels is very stupid. 'Cause ninja use arm and legs as weapon and keep training very hard in martial art but the thac0 is of a rogue and I always missed most of all my attacks. Blade are like that. They do specialise in combat but they still has the rogue thac0 to make it weaker than a simple fighter. The class that I will always love is the fighter-mage. With spell turning on him and improved haste-improved invisibility, stone skin and 2 swords in hand ... no one is able to touch me before massive hps lost on all ennemy. The best class I know is the bladesinger elf kit.( not available in the game ) The grand-father of the Jedi Knight religion.

I dont really think there are classes that suck.It all comes down to how u like to play the game.There are some classes I wouldent play however,like the bard.I mean can u imagine the son/daughter of the god of murder being some dumbass jester prancing around wearing pink spandex singing his/hers stupid songs??I just dont find that very beliveable.Also some of the races u can play isent very beliveable.I just cant picture the lord of murder walking the earth,going in to a Orc village and finding one of the Orc ladies so attractive he has to spawn a son/daughter with her.I mean come on.......

I'd say the wizard slayer class is pretty bad. No potions? That means that once you start a battle it's either win flawlessly or bust. I'm no blade fan but there are a few here who are, so I'll keep that opinion to myself, and I don't like the inquisitor a lot either.
And the statement above is something I'd have to agree with: why do thieves have such a terrible THAC0? Wouldn't an assassin have a better THAC0 than a regular fighter? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Some classes are EASY and straitforward, Others require forethought and creativity. Every kit and class has advantages and disadvantages. Whichever class you play, all of them require taking advantage of the bonuses and gaurding against the penalties. This applies to character groups on the whole too.No class "SUCKS". How you use your characters as a group, and how you play characters with glaring disadvantages are what Make The Game.

Maybe its more challenging to play a bard rather than a mage. Or is the challenge the same only you have to think differently to succeed with a swashbuckler, bard, barbarian, archer, or sorcerer. Ive liked every class I've Ive playyed (14 total). In the long run I will play them all in at least part of the game. In the end I may have some favorite classes. What I enjoy most will be taking any given character or party and playing it well. Using the character()s skills and powers creatively to win, whatever the classes or kits. All of them have weaknesses to exploit, Every class, kit, party, and character.

OK, look you don't get many spells but casting magic missle 6 times is more than enough for me. And beyond that if you KNOW what spells you need then your set, Most people don't realize that the few spells you choose can make or break your sorcy. Frankly, I prefer a Gnome Illusionist to all these barbarians (Which are alright but the speed ((they have speed don't they?)) seperates them from the group quickly and ends up getting them killed).

Well, I'm playing with Paladin (Cavalier), Tiamat vs. Paladin no problem.
