Running a relatively new Compaq Presario 5000 series, (512MB)P-4
I have NEVER had any problems with games b4, and run Everquest Shadow of Luclin (supposedly very hard to run) with all the Models installed, without a hint of lag- I get no lag/packet loss or "ping" with Multiplayer NWN.. but in both MP and solo NWN after i QUIT game, the system locks up! screen turns BLACK.. and nothing happens. Mouse frozen, Cntrl-Alt-Del does nada, and the "Instant-Windows" button on keyboard does nada! i cant even turn off the system!! i have to literally UNPLUG the machine *horrors* |
Well at least all of you guys have been able to play a little. i can't even get pass the black box with the eye in the middle.
right after i click on play... the big black box shows up for a couple of seconds then disappears. COMPLETELY!!! i even pressed alt delete to see if the program is running and it's not. i downloaded the latest driver for my vid card (tnt 2 32meg.. yeah kinda old but no money to upgrade :D ) So yeah any help or advice would be appreciated... i want to play!!!!!!!!!!! :D |

My computer does this every so often, after I reboot. I just let it sit for a while and the game eventually starts. Longest it took was 15 min, but its usually a few minutes. NWN isnt the only program that has done this, but NWN does it way more frequently. |

The little file is only a couple of kb´s. The main driver is bigger, you might not need that unless you have a really old mouseware installed.. ;) Good luck!

Just found another bug...if you have a potion in one of your quickslots and you try and drag that potion from your inventory into another quickslot (for example if you wanted to rearrange your quickbar) make sure you don't double click on the potion already in your quickbar, because the game will hang and you will have to unplug your PC to switch it off.

I have had a weird one
I did a couple of districts in the Core, and decided I would start again, you know, as you do and saved my character. I started my new game with my level 4 Ranger level 1 cleric and started to work my way through from chapter 1 again. On my journal it still had half a quest left from earlier game, I had left a couple of letters etc in my inventory. Didn't think much of it until I came to the area where that quest took place and each time I tried to get into several doorways, to try and further the plot, get keys etc. I got the door icon, but she (Lady Anastasia Zidane) my character, wouldn't go through the door. Now I am stuck again because I need a special key and I cannot get into the bloody place where I think it should be. Now I cannot actually enter the big aqueduct gate from the docks entrance. Help. I am one of those players who has to do every quest that is possible, look in every single barrel etc and this is really annoying me. I am now a level 5 ranger level 3 cleric and I am worried if I try to start to game again with my new save character(after stripping myself of every single quest document) I will level out before I come to the end of the game. I am thinking of risking it, but I don't know if I will come across the same problem again. Or if anyone knows a workaround.....??? Cheers Lady Zidane I am about to try again...sigh, but I will wait a while in case any of you can help |
Zidane, have you tried dumping the letters. etc, and going back to the Temple?
Also, I am officially reporting that bug when you fight the Intellect Devourer. When I reimported my character and started the game again, he popped right up when I killed the Gaoler. So, there definitely was a bug the first time around. Sorry, no work-arounds. |
I have started again with my saved character
When I woke up in the training academy I made sure there was absolutely nothing in my journal. It was blank, apart from the first thing I had to do. I HAD to start again as when I was in the Beggars Nest, and I went to the strange house, I was allowed entry, but when I tried to get in that door, she did the same thing, it is as if it doesnt trigger the load to next screen. The door opens, I get the purply blue light that says I can proceed, but she just stops in front of the opening, will not go through that door. I checked the other doors (three of them) in the docks district that I couldn't get in and still the same. This strange house is a the important part of the plot so I am buggered. I am going to make a detailed report to Bioware and Infogrames. Hell I even reinstalled the game, just keeping my saved character. I am just starting in chapter 1 again now, after speeding through the temple. I just hope it was a corrupt save game and nothing else. Lady Zidane |
For those of you who get the black, white, and blue screens of death, the NWN main site has great support forums about this, as i found out when trying to figure out how to view screen shots. That SoD effects tons of peeps, so the answer might b there

I'm having a problem with modules. I did all the Waterdhavian creature quests in chapter 1 and said to Aribeth i wanted to perfornm the ritule. It said loading module and then turned of that current game, went on to the pre made character select screen, said invalid and then when i canceled out of that it went on to the multiplayer screen and said 'Bad Strref', why ,why, why. I realy want it fixing, plz help!

Sorry if this has already been posted but I was afraid I'd see too many spoilers if I read this thread.
When you buy armor from the dwarf at the beginning of the game in the training area, you can purchase unlimited paladin outfits for 0 gold and sell them right back to him for 1 gold apiece. Slow and cheesy way to make some cash.. |
Just giving it a bump!

Ok, I have frustrating issue I would love to get some feedback on. First my system:
Athelon 700 w/384 MB Ram GeF3 TI200 w/64MB Ram Win98 SE SB PCI128 Iomega 32x4x8 CD-RW (only cd drive) MS Optical wheel mouse On a very random basis, but enough to be a serious pain in the arse, when I select a game to load, the comp will lock hard at the "unpacking module..." point. I had a very hard time installing the game and eventually had to copy the install 1 & 2 CD's to my hard drive to get it to complete the install. Tech support, via phone, said the install issue was possibly outdated bios on the CD-RW and suggested I reflash it. I did, but after I had installed from the hard drive. I am wondering if this could still be my issue as you must have the Plat CD inserted to play. Last night I had to reboot 6 times while trying to play in a multi-player game due to system locks. Anyone have any suggestions...other than buy a new CD-Rom? Also, I had to disable my Zone Alarm software, software based firewall, to even get the game to run. Even if playing solo off-line it seems to conflict with NWN and cause system lock ups. Thanks |
Just a bump up.

Ok, I don't know if these have been addressed elsewhere, but I am having two bugs:
1. I have yet to see one of the movies between the modules. All I see is the loading screen frozen, and hear all of the dialog from the movie. As soon as the movie (that I can't see) is over, it finishes loading just fine. So I know what went on during the movie (since I can hear it just fine), but saw none of the animations. Kind of like being a blind man in a theater. 2. I was in Luskan in chapter 2, and had finished the sewers. I had the game freak out and crash (hint, never use Windows Messenger while running the game, since it can crash it when you receive a message). When I loaded back up, suddenly all the quests that I had done in the sewer were back in my "unresolved" journal area. I had all of the stuff I had accumulated in the sewers, except for the quest items, and my xp was right were it was when I finished the quests. I went back into the sewers, and the sewers were completely unexplored! I had to go back and redo all of the quests again, giving me extra xp and extra items (hey, I'm not complaining, it's just that I had finished it, and it was a little frustrating having to do it all again). I had made sure to save after I was out of the sewer (that's why I still had all of the stuff I had accumulated in the sewers, like the Dragon Slippers). Thus, I ended up with 2 pairs of dragon slippers, etc. Also got double the xp, so definitely not complaining. It was just a weird bug. |
I'm reporting a possible bug with the Toolset - the three times I have tried to use it it has abnormally crashed, which is annoying, to say the least. ;)

Well I dont know if its a bug... but sometimes one of my B/S's level of spells went up to 255 casts or something during rest.. and if I canceled my rest.. I would have 255 spells of that level for me to cast.
Also my sound never copes past the loading screen... |

Bug with hot hey // weapon swap feature
I have a flail ( foundation for knocking locks ) protector shield combo and astral blade//protector shield combo hot set for quick swap. If all of your inventory is full I mean all 6 pages are full of stuff and there is not room for you items to swap out too the - 1. item being coming out of the slot falls to the ground and can be hovered over but not picked up. 2. the shield that was the same for both hot keys stayed however does not apear in your hand on the model and cannot be removed from the inventory screen. ( I curred this by swaping to bow which brought the shield to the back pack.) |
