Bozos of Bones 08-12-2005 07:40 AM

Damn.. I should not have answered that...
Now to think up another question...
What is the name one Delnar's item that actually worked as wanted?

ZFR 08-12-2005 07:55 AM

delnar staff of delight

Bozos of Bones 08-12-2005 09:16 AM

Aha! The burden of the question rests no longer upon my shoulders! *passes the curse to ZFR*

ZFR 08-12-2005 09:36 AM

whats the only non-city area that can be fully seen once you enter it and why?

Bozos of Bones 08-12-2005 11:43 AM

The Black Raven monastery, because you're on a high cliff which gives an excellent view on the surrounding area...
Please be wrong, please be wrong, please be wrong...

ZFR 08-12-2005 11:55 AM

hehehe...

ask your question

Bozos of Bones 08-12-2005 05:41 PM

Agh! Just my luck...
OK, a simple one now:
What happens if you conspire with Iyachtu at the end of the game?

Dragonshadow 08-13-2005 06:05 AM

the world explodes

Bozos of Bones 08-13-2005 06:10 AM

Exactly right! Yes! Bravo!
...
Not! Next!

Marty4 08-14-2005 06:03 PM

If memory serves, demonic summons are barred from the final battle with I and M.

PleasebewrongPleasebewrongPleasebewrong

Bozos of Bones 08-14-2005 06:28 PM

Oh, how I would like to fulfil your wish, Marty... but it just wouldn't be fair You got it right.
You have my condolences...

Marty4 08-14-2005 08:41 PM

Okey Dokey...

Um...

What is the highest possible magic resistance? Tell how this is obtained. Anything goes.

For a bonus point, can someone tell me how to defeat Lysara in the Ice Temple without having to deal 1000+ damage? It's a nice challenge, but it gets tedius when I have her held and still need to pound on her with all tanks for over a minute.

Bozos of Bones 08-14-2005 10:56 PM

Highest Magic or Spell Resistance?
Magic Reistance has a potion for permanent 2/-, a staff for 3/-, a ring for 5/- and helm for another 3/- I believe. A few items and abilities which add to all resistances, but it would be too much trouble for me to count those. Having in mind that you can carry two rings, and find two potions, you could have about 20 MR just with that. No race has any starting MR, and due to a bug, the Barbarian damage resistance is also applied to it(it should only apply to physical, but somehow it applies to magic too).
Spell Resistance? Drow/Swirfneblin gain 11 +1/level, having 29 levels of monk adds 29 plus another 2(it adds 13 +1/level, but if it is applied to a race with SR, whatever has the higher initial bonus is counted), and adding a level of Paladin, you get another 30 from the sword. Now, add in a potion and a shield, and you get some 105. I've no idea why you'd want that, cause after you hit 50 you're immune to I&M's spells, but

How to defeat Lysara? Harm maybe? Most Bosses seem to have immunities to Instagib, but not Harm.

Sleeper 08-15-2005 02:30 PM

Theres two potions for permanent spell resistance.
Both found at the ice glacier. One for 1/- and the other for 2/- . (on the description it reads
permanent magic resistance but adds to spell resistance.)

Marty4 08-15-2005 04:48 PM

I should have clarified, I'm looking for SPELL resistance. It's the same as magic resistance in BG2, which I am currently playing, so I got confuzzled :(

BoB, I believe you are correct. I don't recall the shield you are using, could you tell me? Still, you get the question.

On Lysara, what I meant was can someone tell me how to trigger the suicidal dialogue thing with her (I recall her doing that my first game thru). Since my first game, this has never happened, and 1000 hp is, to my knowledge, impossible.

Bozos of Bones 08-15-2005 05:12 PM

I said shield? I meant slippers.. Sorry, I had a brain fart. Chimandrae's slippers add the +2 SR.
And I guess the curse is back to me now... Oh, the pain!
What item could be involved to make a sane character take 3d6 damage voluntarily?
And I've never managed to shorten the duration.. Atleast not in the last ten games I remember.

Marty4 08-15-2005 08:05 PM

I think this is like being addicted to a lethal drug. I can't help but answer!

I'm not sure of this, but I think the "Harmless staff" (not full name) can deal 3d6 damage back at it's wielder.

I wont take the question away from you, but if spell resistance isn't taken from a shield in the above example, then the character can dual wield BOTH holy avengers for a grand total of +45 spell resistance.

Bozos of Bones 08-15-2005 08:09 PM

So now you got 120 spell resistance.. Come across any Prismatic Dragons lately?
The question I asked implied it was a sure damage, not a possibility. Nice try, but try again.

Dragonshadow 08-16-2005 08:24 AM

The sword taht, if you hit yourself with it, hals you? THough I don't know if you would be sane using it...

Bozos of Bones 08-16-2005 08:47 AM

I think you are referring to the Healing Blade, but no, that one does not deal 3d6 damage.

EDIT:
Oh, god I had a brain fart. Somehow, I mistakenly thought 3d6, but it's 8d6. My bad.
So now, the question is, bla bla bla bla 8d6 damage?

Dragonshadow 08-16-2005 05:48 PM

Oh yeah. Didn't read the question properly. Sorry.

ZFR 08-25-2005 05:28 AM

So the question is?
Quote:

What item could be involved to make a sane character take 8d6 damage voluntarily?
well technically since you said item spell scrolls should count. so a fireball scroll for example at the right level should do it.

there was also an item that could cast fireball once per day but i really cant remember it...

Dragonshadow 08-25-2005 05:35 AM

But wouldn't you usually cast a fireball so you don't take damage?

ZFR's answer makes sense to me. While you usually would want to cast it away from yourself, I have sometimes fireballed myself in an effort to hit more enemies. And last time I checked, I was sane

Bozos of Bones 08-25-2005 06:47 PM

OK, let me hint you: It's a potion.

ZFR 08-25-2005 07:37 PM

oh you mean the remorhaz extract?

EDIT: the name is thyrm extract... made from remorhaz though... you call a person who drinks that sane?

Bozos of Bones 08-26-2005 03:18 PM

Well, in some situations, it can be very helpful!
Yes. You go.

ZFR 08-26-2005 05:07 PM

ok, what in-game bug allows a specialist mage to be able to memorize all spells?

Dragonshadow 08-27-2005 12:49 PM

I had a paladin once who dueled to specialist and could learn all spells

And no one told me this why???

Woulda helped with my whole pally party thing back in the day. Oh well

ZFR 08-27-2005 02:37 PM

well...

close but not entirely correct...

ZFR 08-29-2005 06:00 AM

Ok I installed the game and checked. had a paladin dual to conjurer and tried. he indeed could learn all opposition spells (although he could NOT cast them from scrolls). so apparantly Dragonshadow's answer is also correct.

the answer I meant was to take one level of sorceror. since a sorceror can cast all spells the game will allow the wizard to copy all spells to his spellbook (and cast them from scrolls too).

Your question Dragonshadow.

Dragonshadow 08-29-2005 04:52 PM

Okay, an easy one:
What can transmuters do that noone esle can? (And I am not talking about spells)

ZFR 08-29-2005 05:27 PM

he can ask that girl (forgot the name) to use the wizard alchemist lab in DE...

Dragonshadow 08-30-2005 05:47 AM

Um.. could you try and amke taht a bit clearer so I can check please?

ZFR 08-30-2005 06:02 AM

Ok my mistake its underdark drider lair and not de ...

with a transmuter you can convince imprahili peacefully to allow you to use her lab in the near the drider lair in underdark. you can then use the lab to create potions and... *stuff* :D .

Balintherlas 08-30-2005 01:17 PM

He/she can use the lab in the drider lair to make a golem.

Balintherlas 08-30-2005 01:19 PM

Oh whoops, i didnt see zfr's last post.

Dragonshadow 08-30-2005 02:56 PM

Balintherlas - anyone with a high enough something or other (alchemy I think) can do atht. Nice try though.
ZFR - you're probably right, but I'll have to check, unless anyone knows for sure?

Krowlars 08-30-2005 03:10 PM

I don't wanna be meddlesome, but I could use my Illusionist to make the potions; but not the golem.
