So... BoB, next question?

Bozos of Bones 02-28-2005 05:29 PM

Sorry for the procrastinations... here's the Q:
Which is the odd one out: Contangio, Undead Ward, Banshee's Wail, Cure Moderate Wounds Disintegrate, Finger of Death, Beltyn's Burning Blood.

Marty4 02-28-2005 06:22 PM

Wail of the Banshee. It's the only one that dosn't target anything. Tricky

Bozos of Bones 02-28-2005 06:25 PM

Actually, Undead Ward is also an area effect, centered on the caster(IIRC), not a single target spell. Care to try again?

Marty4 02-28-2005 06:30 PM

Contagion, since you mispelled it?
Or because it is the only druid spell listed, or because it is the only stat changing spell listed.

Bozos of Bones 02-28-2005 06:40 PM

OK, let me just help you with the rules of an "odd one out". If I say there is a red car, a blue car and a yellow truck, you don't say "the red car is teh odd one, because it's the only red vehicle there", you say "the yellow truck is the odd one out, because both the other two are cars, and this is a truck". You don't go searching for oddities, you search for similarities, and see which one doesn't fit in the general group. So I'm gonna give you a big hint now: go back to school

EDIT: Good luck on working it out now, I'm gone for the day. See ya tomorra!

Disintegrate. Transmutation.

About my above guesses, I wasn't just throwing out random unique features of spells, I was just wrong. What I mean is, I thought that clerics probably were able to cast all of those spells (including their domain spells), except for contagion.

Balintherlas 02-28-2005 09:30 PM

Im gonna go beltn's burning blood, thats not necromancy is it?

Bozos of Bones 03-01-2005 05:32 AM

Nope, Marty's right, all the others are Necromancy spells except Disintegrate. If BBB weren't necromancy, the whole "spell school" wouldn't make much sense, would it?
So take it away Marty!

Marty4 03-01-2005 03:23 PM

Okay, here's an odd one that only the bloodthirsty or thieving amongst us will know:

What robes does Malavon Despana wear?

For a bonus point: what does AIDBG stand for?

A little searching reveals this:

Aerich:
It's not so easy in the early going (on insane). I walked out of Easthaven and just barely managed to avoid AIDBG (<font color=red>an ignonimous death-by-goblin</font>).

Marty4 03-02-2005 02:54 PM

Bingo! Though you don't have the main question answered yet...

That is because I don't recall the answer It's been quite a while since I was in the Underdark.

Dragonshadow 03-03-2005 04:02 PM

His bathrobe.

ZFR 03-04-2005 12:22 PM

Do you mean the Desapana House Piwafwi (sp?) robe?

Marty4 03-04-2005 05:25 PM

Nope. This is the robe he drops if you decide that the pitiful drow should die :D

Dragonshadow 03-06-2005 06:11 AM

robe of fire resistance

ZFR 03-06-2005 06:24 AM

Traveller's Robe

Dragonshadow 03-06-2005 06:28 AM

robe of the evil archmagi, he has a hood?

(EDITed for spelling)

[ 03-06-2005, 06:43 AM: Message edited by: Dragonshadow ]

Marty4 03-06-2005 08:53 AM

Dragonshadow gets it! Yep, he wears the robe of the evil archmagi.

Dragonshadow 03-07-2005 06:55 AM

Where would you find Lucky Knucky?
BONUS: Who or what is it?

Bozos of Bones 03-07-2005 07:15 AM

Knuck Knuck Knuck!
You find it in the Gallaway trading depo. It's a shield.

Dragonshadow 03-07-2005 08:34 AM

Mmm,right place, it's not a shield

Balintherlas 03-07-2005 10:43 AM

isnt it a knuckle head trout that u wear as a neclace i think?

Dragonshadow 03-07-2005 11:57 AM

Correct.
THis is where I turn to Marty: who does it go to?

Marty4 03-08-2005 05:51 AM

Oof. I think BoB gets it, since the main question is where is it located, and that is what BoB answered. Balintherlas gets a bonus point, but no question.

I'll just add in taht the Lucky Nucky is an amulet that gives a bonus to saving throws and can be pickpocketed from Jeremiah who works in the trade depot. the HoF version is obtained the same way, but also adds 2 to luck (insane!).

BoB, you're up.

Bozos of Bones 03-08-2005 05:57 AM

OKie, then... can you all tell me... What's the name of the first enemy in the game to cast Banshee's Wail?

ZFR 03-08-2005 08:30 AM

No one!!! Since technically the correct name of the spell is "Wail of banshee" and not "Banshee's wail".

Ok seriously, is it Saablic Tan? Cant remember since last I played the game on HoF so cant remember who casts it and who doesnt withoutr HoF.

Marty4 03-08-2005 03:37 PM

I don't ever remember an enemy casting it... so Saablic Tan on HoF might be right. For the sake of a different answer, I'll say Isair.

Bozos of Bones 03-08-2005 04:45 PM

Nope and nope. I'll give you a hint: It's the only lich in the game that casts it first.

Balintherlas 03-08-2005 08:06 PM

Larrel?

Marty4 03-08-2005 09:15 PM

Dang, I forget his name. It's not Larrel, it's the one in the fields of slaughter, who takes you on after pwning the elven cleric dude. I probably just gave it away to whoever knows the guys name, but oh well ;)

Dragonshadow 03-09-2005 05:33 AM

Bob the mighty slayer lich

Bozos of Bones 03-09-2005 06:10 AM

His name is M'darfein. Marty gets this one.

Marty4 03-09-2005 05:50 PM

Hmmm... I'm running low on material, and one of my friends is borrowing the game... lets see...

Who is the smith who made the Haft Over Head axe?

Bozos of Bones 03-09-2005 06:34 PM

Dullcobble, the moron who somehow managed to get himself killed while throwing the mis-done axe.

Marty4 03-09-2005 08:14 PM

Like I said, I'm running low on material

You're up!

Bozos of Bones 03-10-2005 02:06 PM

OK
What is the ONLY item in the game that can ONLY fit in the shield slot, offers no defence, doesn't attack, but offers a bonus in place?
For a hint, only a certain class can use it.

Marty4 03-10-2005 07:12 PM

Holy crap.

I have absolutely no idea.

Magness 03-10-2005 09:12 PM

^Probably the Lyre of Progression (bards only), IIRC.
