Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

Greetings Cloudy!!!

Ok, so my neice (or is it niece?) is now a year old, eats like crazy (yet still tiny), and is learning words.
I'm still looking for work, but if the news reports are in any way accurate something should click soon. And my Church finally got the permits to start building their new 2000 seat auditorium. Now if we just knew a multi-billionaire who could foot the bill for a parking garage.

G'day one and all :)

It was the first cold morning of the year today ( I had to get up at 4:30 am) so I guess winter will not be to far away.

Still doing my Airbus A330 licence course - the training has been never ending since I started about 7 months ago. At least there is only 2 more weeks to go ... :heee:

Good to see you up and about Clouds. Give my regards to Jim and I hope he finds work soon

Hey Good to see you Cloudy and the Cafe on top of the GD board. :)

What a crazy week. I gave my baby some pain medicine to help with his teeth growing only to find out an hour later it and a bunch other children's medicine has been recalled for quality problems.

The stupid ass company involved is treating it like they are doing us a favor by telling us rather than acting like they put a whole bunch of babies at risk. NEVER buying that brand again!

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

Hey everyone! I'm trying to get in a few times a week at least.
FST, enjoy her while she IS tiny... LOL and good luck with the building!

Thanks Wellard, it's been a rough few months but hubby is close to finishing his studies for the computer certification he wants and with any luck, he should find something after that.

Chewy, ugh, I saw that recall on the news. I hope your little one is ok!

Have been making meatballs for the freezer and muffins with help from my hubby, who is great in the kitchen.. LOL He even cleans up afterwards! Yup, you heard me... he cleans up all the pans and bowls and whisks and such after I'm done... Gotta love a man who will do that! :D

*looks in, peeks around*

Afternoon, all. Seems a few things have changed since I've been out and about, but the basics appear to be there still... couch at the end of the stairs... Endless M&M Jar (tm) at the bar (bit dust-covered, though...)...

Lessee.... since I was actively here last (I think!) I've written my third technical book, finally fought off a serious Mafia Wars addiction, possibly have developed a Castle Age addiction, watched my daughter hit 13 years old (yipes!), set her up on Facebook (privacy settings... *not* just a good idea), had a good friend pass away far too young (and just a couple of years older than me... yeeps!), demolished our basement in hopes of remodeling it, and made it halfway through that remodeling project.

Oh, and thoroughly neglected the Trivia contest, which has been at least partially rectified.

*slides into chair, blows dust off of Endless M&M Jar (tm)*

A round for the house... on me. At least, if I still have currency that works 'round here...

Hmm..... I think, as long as you don't live in Greece or Zimbabwe, you should be ok.

Welcome back Bungleau. Thirteen is a scary age for parents. I don't have personal knowledge as of yet, but I know when I hear my young female student friends start talking about boys, I get nervous for them.

The job hunt goes on, and I really need to try and get something before summer when my Dad's business gets slow. He'll really need some help then. He already does, really, but it's manageable right now.

Construction is slow, they're packing the ground, setting the grade so it's level with our other building (and just plain level period), and laying down the sewage/plumbing, and storm drains. Still can't wait to see some vertical structure going up.

Here's an aerial shot if anyone's interested: http://www.cbglades.com/images/Great...ial_4-10_3.jpg

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

So quiet in the Cafe these days. Anywho, a game called Pool of Radiance (from around 2003 I think) came up in my Amazon recommendations recently. Looked pretty interesting at first glance, but the interface looks like it could be a bit of a hassle. Just wondering what the opinions areound here might be on this game before I completely pass it over.

Bungleau 05-24-2010 09:23 AM

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

Pool of Radiance... sounds like one of the original-style D&D games that... SSI made, IIRC.

Dusting off old memories, that was back in the day of turn-based grid-movement games. Fine if you're an old-time gamer who appreciates good story lines ('cause they generally had that back then), but if you're into eye-candy... well, it may not satisfy all that much.

User interface shouldn't be too clunky... probably keyboard-heavy with mouse options. You'll adapt to it within a short while.

You may also need a machine to play it on... double-check the requirements. I'm not sure that it will have a ghost of a chance running on a Vista or Win7 machine. An old Win98 box would be ideal... ;)

Is this "Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor" ? If so, my copy is for Win95/98/ME. I had it running on my XP machine though. If you play it make sure you get the patches. It was quite buggy. There were still some fan sites for this game last I checked, so google it for some tips (and those patches!).

Yeah, that's the one. So I'm guessing it's a decent game?

I never finished it, but it's on the 'to do' list. The game has some problems, though. The walking speed is maddeningly slow. Monsters aren't scaled to party level, so if you're getting your butt kicked...try a different area or dungeon. That's all I remember, YMMM, so give it a try!

I need to get some new games as well. I have not bought any for about a year. Trouble is that the local game shops are just full of Nintendo/PS/Wii stuff and nothing for PC's

It's a sad time when I can walk into 3 or 4 games shops and only see enough PC's games between them to fill a shoebox :(

However digital distibution isn't so bad.

Everytime Steam has a special, my wallet and free time weep for mercy :D

Yeah Grab them off steam or Aussiegamer has some good PC games stocked and pretty cheap as well.

Hey *B* good to see you around these parts. :)

I'll spare ya'll the complicated and painful details, but sufficed to say my family and I are going through the most challenging time in recent memory. All good thoughts and kind prayers sent our way are welcome.

Guys I was wrong about being safe and may have saved my Son's and other Childrens' lives today. It's not over yet and I am thankful for your prayers. At this point I'm going to spare ya'll the details until the books and movie.

Much Love!

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

Well, it's finally happened. Our landlord's patience has run out. And he's been extremely patient. He's reduced, yes that's right reduced, our rent by just shy of $200. And we've been three months behind for most of a year (it's been a tough year for music teaching (my dad) and job hunting(me)). Anywho yesterday my dad got an email from him saying we either needed to bring the account up to date in the next three days or he'd start the filing process for eviction. Close to $3k in 3 days is essentially impossible, so he was basically telling us he wanted us gone (I can't say I blame him, he does have to make a living afterall.) And he's given us til the end of next week to be all moved out.

We're going to move in with my sister for a little while we regain our financial bearings. My parents are hoping to save up to buy a house. I'll continue looking for work, I've got some promising possibilities, but nothing in terms of interviews yet. Anyways, I'm sure we'll come out on our feet one way or another.

Hope everything works out for you Chewie.

Wow... that's a story I want to hear when the time's right, Chewie. Glad he's safe... for all of you.

FSA, tough going on the house. I hope things work out well for you and your family.

Chewie - I don't know what is going on, it seems so enigmatic, but best wishes to you and your family. Same wishes for you FSA, this is a stressful time for your family but i'm sure if you stick together you will be fine.

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

I have to choose to keep the details close in the near future.

Also, I wonder if the mysterious aspect comes from several miracles I have witnessed in the course of events I have alluded to. Even taken as a set of strange, unlikely coincidences there is an enigmatic air.

Another thing I have been diagnosed with PTSD with a variety of symptoms. I have found simply talking about some details is very difficult. Not to mention the acute separation anxiety. I'll not burden anyone with those cruel details if I can help it.

Very nearly moved out. Pretty good considering we packed and moved most of our stuff in one week. Going to try for one major last push tomorrow, then some clean-up.

And my church has the footings poured, so I should be seeing some structure going up soon. This thing can't be built fast enough, it's making the parking lot a nightmare.

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, HAPPY 2010!!!!

Curious... for those of you who are familiar with Yorick's music, does the male singer in the group Steel Magnolia remind you of him?

Might be a brief advert in front of that... no harm.

In particular, on the chorus... just reminds me of Hugh.

Anyone else?

I'm doing great, johnny! Working at a small local daycare (me, 1 other responsible adult and 24 small children - and did I just say one other responsible adult? Surely a meant 'a responsible adult'...) until August 17th, when I'm off to Florida for six weeks. Very much looking forward to it, but I've never been anywhere hot before, so I'm taking bets as to how long it will be before I spontaneously combust.

What're you up to? Enjoying the world cup?

omg you know, I don't follow or much care about football, so I'd missed the horns until today... when my South African WoW guildies blasted them at us over vent while we're grouping up to kill the Lich King on 25. Way to go guys. :|
