Yes, but can Cernd cast spells and fight at the same time?
No, but since a priests primary role is party buffing up rather than pure offensive spell casting like a mage, Cernd can cast spells X,Y and Z on himself and the party prior to combat, then shapechange and hey presto, a tank with iron skins, 3APR, 21STR, 40%MR, a decent THAC0 and a *base* AC of -10! By level 31, he'll have 80% environmental damage resistance (when shapechanged), and be able to shapechange to a greater werewolf 7 times per day. And Jaheria? well, she could always change into a weedy brown bear :D

I must be going mad, but a few things in Jaheira favour.

1) She is half Fighter. This means she gets to have ToB Warrior HLAs.
2) She has excellent DEX which combined with good equipment, can beat Cernd's AC.
3) She can cast and fight at the same time.
4) She can specialise in her weapon proficiencies.
5) She has more Hp than Cernd.
6) She can wear armour.
7) She only loses 1 spell slot from level 5-7, and the last level of elemental resistances due to her multiclass. This is more than compensated by the Fighter half.

Well, that is all I can think of now, but I am sure the Jaheira fans can think of more. Me? Jaheira never even makes it out of her cage in my games... ...

I seek answers! (please)

Don't underestimate getting 5 *'s in quarterstaves, being able to max out the staff of the magi is a very useful ability.

I dualed my character at L9, and frankly I don't miss the extra few tweaks the extra levels give me - I don't often use the Kai ability, my "normal" damage being quite nasty enough as it is, when I'm not throwing melf's meteors or magic missiles, etc.

Ideally, with ToB the "perfect" switch is pretty much at L13 - you get a Kai at that level, and you can still max out the mage half of the character inside the xp cap.

Hey it finnnaly worked well everytime I try to start a topic that is I would appreciate if some1 can answer these 2 simple and unsimple questions!

1) Minor problem the letters use to be soooooo clear but lately it has been sooooooooo blurry and hard to read.

2) Lets say I save the upper right corner of da screen. When I load the dam thing it gets SO FREAKING MESSED UP bYU Staying at the same place even though I try to move it to my characters it just stays there NOt MOVING! I am very frustrated today! Tried to install 2 game my bud gave me I have been waiting to play for months and turned out they are messed up TOO!!!!! I feel so Angry I guess I should go buy a punchin bag.

As for weapons, max out (grand master - make sure your game has the grandmaster fix!) one type of weapon, and select either 2H weapon (with 2H swords) or dual weapon use (most anything else).

I like 2H swords - they are pretty powerful, and are capable of whacking a lot of critters in one swipe, plus Lilarcor is available fairly early in the game.

Another good choice is Katana, despite the warnings at the beginning of the game. Two very powerful katanas are available for use.

Do consider the quarterstaff - staff of magi is very useful for a mage, and deadly with a kensai's THAC0 and Kai ability.

Party really depends on alignment.

Good party:
Airhead
Keldorn
Jan
Minsc
Jaheira (if desired), Cernd or possibly Anomen.

Evil party:
Edwin
Yoshimo or Jan
Korgan
Viconia

Jaheira and Cernd are Druids (neutral) and can also join an evil party.
