Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
Yes, why would they give a cute teddy bear such an evil name? 'course it seems everybody and everything is named mohammad, so what's one more thing.
If it's not too late, maybe Jesus would be a more fitting name!? |
Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
I actually think they showed a lot of restraint in only giving her 15 days and it seemed to me like a favor to Britain.
And she really is guilty of inciting hatred. What did she think would happen? Hasn't there been enough attention in the media lately about their prophet? Anyone going in that part of the world should know better. |
Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
We're talking about a teddy bear here. I don't think anyone could have guessed how far this would be blown out of proportions. It certainly isn't comparable to the Danish Cartoon row. That was deliberate critism. This is.. a misunderstanding.

Not knowing the law is not an excuse for not obeying it...

Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
I'm not an expert on their culture but I think if the prophet is such a major figure then all references to his name are assumed a reference to him.
As I said earlier, though, I don't think it was the teachers intent to insult Islam or incite hatred. But apparently intent doesn't account for much in their court systems. On a side note does their law specify what is to be considered an insult? or is it merely assumed that all would know an insult if they saw it. In which case it's wide open to wildly varied perceptions. Kind of like ancient japanese culture with the Samurai. A Samurai could kill you on the spot for a perceived insult. He would have to explain, as a matter of courtesy, to onlookers why he felt the offender had to die, but only after he'd killed them. So what is offensive? It was never specified exactly, it was left to the perception of the Samurai and his whims. |
Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
Well then she's guilty of an unpremeditated inciting of riots and hatred.
Here's a middle east survival rule: While in their land and under their laws and customs, never ever mention their prophet, either by name or any other way. Never do anything that could associate you with said prophet. |

In other words, don't touch their religion (period)

Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
The more i hear about that religeon, the more i'm convinced that it and it's followers are beyond retarded.
Are we honstly sending aid to countries like Sudan for development and such? What a waste of money that is. Let them kill eachother and die of starvation, let's not get in nature's way. |
Re: Watch what your kids call their teddy bear..
yeh - not good . . .
although the smart money seems to be on the arrest and the subsequent riots having been orchestrated by the Sudanese government as a negotiating position to head off international sanctions over their conduct in Darfur |
