Kickballs out next, as well as Dodgeball and other like games. I mean all those big bullies lobbing balls at little Jimmy, I don't think he can handle it.

This would be funny, if it weren't so sad; In basic training, we were not allowed to practice hand to hand combat, since somebody might get hurt. I guess somebody did get hurt the cycle before mine, and their momma tried to sue the Army. Ok, it's the Army. Heaven forbid the enemy might shoot at us, or we run out of ammo...Granted, that was the National Guard I was going for, but there were regular Army boys in there too. We had to run in jogging shoes too, no boots for boot camp...Well, at least not for PT.

Starting Jan. 2008 all military weapons will be replaced with super soft fluffy pillows, and bubble guns.

I hated it too. So I just lost as fast as I could so I could sit out and laugh at other people.

My old primary school also banned British Bulldog when I was there. *sigh*

I have the same issue with kids' sports at our local YMCA. Officially, there are no winners or losers, and they don't officially keep score... but every kid knows what the score was after the game, and whether they won or lost.

Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. You deal with it. Except for those who make up ridiculous games where no one loses, which also means no one wins.

Ridiculous.

What ever happened to losing building character? Now it just makes mommy go to the lawyer's office. I remember when a child that wasn't good enough didn't make the Little League team. Now, everybody plays is the rule. "But little Jimmy might get his feelings hurt if he can't play". Maybe, but maybe he'll practice more, and make the team next year. By all means, let's not teach our children that anything worth having is worth working for.

It's women. Plain & simple. Women (soccer moms, etc.) have brought the U.S. into jelly-like complacency.
"Oh NO! little Johnny might get HURT!" The more comfortable we become as a nation, the more the women want to protect us from ourselves. I mean, I know testosterone is a TERRIBLE thing (lol), but apparently we men can't do ANYTHING without hurting someone's FEELINGS or making them feel alienated. So, it is up to the womb-bearers to save us. I could get highly philosophical on this, going back to the beginning of time, but I'll spare us the litany & wait to see how badly I get crushed for this post.

Edit: wait! truly it is the MENs fault, for needing to get laid soooooo bad that they will give such arguments credence & actually think that they are doing mankind a service. No-backbone-having wussies! Come on, it's not LOVE, it's just vagina!

Hmm.. someone has issues, methinks! ;)

Bungleau, I couldn't agree more! Winning/losing is part of life on a pretty big scale. We may not always get the 'best' or 'first' of anything or be the best or first in everything we do. That's how it goes. Learning that lesson doesn't have to be harsh but it certainly can't be eliminated to anyone's good, I'd think.

Very true! Some kids will work harder and do better, some just won't be cut out to play that particular game and will learn/choose to do other things that they are more suited for. Games shouldn't be so complicated and I do understand where a child who has a tough time in all those things may feel less than wonderful, but his/her parents and teachers should encourage and support the child individually, IMO, not punish everyone and limit all the children's choices.

LadyZ...I wasn't a big fan of musical chairs, either.. but sometimes it was fun just to run around and second guess the next guy as to when the music would stop....didn't make being sat on much fun though! LOL

Yeah I've dated a few single moms, "soccer moms", and various psycho-bimbos who were out to save the world from my penis.... something about "I might hurt someone with that thing!"........ :)

It does seem to me that it is always the female gender involved in this touchy-feely "everyone's a winner & no one gets left out" stuff.
I was a total geek in junior high/high school, a little athletic but got bruised in any contact sport....tall & lanky, basically clumsy. I believe it was a large part of the reason I started playing bass guitar, got into a band, and *boom* everything changed! I had the hottest chicks around, made a decent amount of $, and opened for some great bands. Truly it was the best time of my life, and I think if I had NOT been "picked on" at times in my life, I would probably have amounted to nothing..... which is likely the end result of this "PC" that we seem to have embraced. It makes everyone feel that they *deserve* something, instead of feeling the need to WORK hard for it and improve themselves, even at the cost, sometimes, of (god forbid) a bruised ego.

mamby-pamby.
(dunno why I said that, I just like the way it sounds.... :))

LOL, my hubby just said "well, he's got issues, but he's got a good point", so I guess we'll leave it at that cuz I sure don't think our PG rated board can handle any more stories of your dates and their penis issues... ;) :D :D :D
