98 pro is good, make sure you have enough power in your PSU to run it though.

Larry, the 9000 series cards were good cards at the time and ATI was kicking nVidia's butt with them as nVidia's FX series were having serious issues. Of course then nVidia came out with their 6000 series and the tables were turned. Now it is neck and neck -- which is good.

I've had used both brands and I am a fan boy of neither. I go with what works. For what you need the 9000 series will do you well.

What sort of price range are you in, adn what sort of performance are you needing? If you want to do some decent NWN's-ing then you will probably need more than a RADEON 9000(one of my all time favourite cards btw) but the 9600 would be an aweosme option, also the 9650 is decent too (came out a fair bit after the 9600 and had some good improvements to beat the NVidia competition)

Well when you're ready to buy all you should need to do to avoid power issues is get a card that has the 4pin molex aux power connector (so it won't pull as much power through the mobo).

Another thing to remember is that the real world performance difference between 4x and 8x agp is next to nothing. Most reviews back in the AGP days claimed the 8x thing was a gimmick. Get a solid engine... the pipe between cpu-and graphics card is not taxed as hard as the on-board stuff.

I have a gforece MX440 around here somewhere if you want that.... not sure that it would help though hehehehe
