Lol, those are some of the reasons I like it :)
It may be worth trying the latest versions if you experienced it a while ago, but hey, if you didn't like it then there's no reason why you should use it. Personally it gets my vote because I find it much speedier than FF (but then I find IE faster than FF), I have highly customised mouse gestures which I can't replicate with a FF extension, I love its email programme and Opera 9 has finally delivered an ad-blocker and site-specific preferences. And if security is your thing, I think FF still has a couple of unpatched remote execution holes whereas Opera 8 is the only browser to not have a single discovered security flaw. If you didn't like Opera's interface, it will be interesting to see what you make of the IE 7 interface as that's had quite a redesign and looks pretty similar. Do let us know how you get on |
The interface was the main reason I didnt like Opera (and the main reason I like Firefox), but I suppose it is a matter of taste.
Firefox is still causing same problems... looks like I'll be giving IE7 a try. |
I just downloaded Opera, and it doesn't look bad at all. A bit different from firefox, though, but I guess I'll get used to it.
edit: Whoah! This thing takes voice commands! Impressive. [ 05-19-2006, 05:03 PM: Message edited by: Iron Greasel ] |
OK, so my mom was cleaning my keyboard. As a result, Firefox's "Find in this page" gets called whenever I type " ' " or shift + 7 (/), the direction keys are not responding, neither are the delete/home/end/pgup/pgdn, shortcuts for copy and paste, ctrl + click for new tab...
Anyway, this is REALLY annoying. I can't begin to describe how much. It did it about a dozen times as I was writing this. I downloaded Keyconfig and tried reverting everything back, didn't(AAARGH!!) help. |
what the heck did she clean your keyboard with? acid?

I dunno... The problem only happens in Firefox, all other applications function normally.

? I have been using Firefox for well over a year now with no problems. Although truth be told, I had no issues with IE prior to my Firefox usage either( I switched to Firefox due to the added functions at that time).
Do you guys check and scan for spyware and viruses on a regular basis? Periodic defragmenting helps too. These little maintainences go a long way in keeping your PC and its' applications healthy. |
been using ffox for a couple of years, and i've never had problems with it. never even read about a problem like BoB is experiencing on the mozillazine forums: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38
the only thing i can think of is that you may have downloaded a trunk or branch version that's still a work in progress. i currently use 1.5.0.3, the latest stable build, and it's running great on my system. sorry your initial experience is so stressful. :( V***v |
I've been using Firefox for a while with no problems, and am happy with it. The two biggest things in its favour for me are: 1. tabbed browsing; and 2. the Google search box.
I tried to make IE6 as "Firefox-like" as possible by installing the Google search box as well as the MSN tabbed browsing - unfortunately MSN tabbed browsing comes with the crap MSN search tox as well. I fixed it by shrinking the MSN search box to a tiny size and putting it right on the edge of the browser. But I still prefer Firefox. I only use IE if I need to access bank sites or other secure areas which I can't using Firefox. What I *have* noticed though is that since I upgraded to v1.5, I've been seeing that "can't connect to this site" window a lot more frequently - I usually have to reclick it a couple of times before it connects. |
