2nd edition is what i started out with in roleplaying, so i guess it'll always have a special place with me, but i like that in 3e any race can play any class. :D

2nd edition all the way, I've always played where if you can meet the stat requirements for a class and can justify (to the DM) why a character would want to be that class then it was allowed (for instance a gnome paladin would be slightly easier to justify than a dwarven mage, as dwarves are completely anti-magic) so the race/class thing was never really an issue
